I can't even summon a snarky comment. That's how boring it is.

Fuck this book.

It robbed me of snark.

Therefore, I must DNF.

I wonder if the people from two centuries ago would feel the same way about HRs as I do about New Adult books. There they were, living their lives at balls and morning teas and shit, paving the way for the future, and they had no idea that their generation would be portrayed as a bunch of overly talkative and shallow assholes banging in carriages and making love way more com

Last Man Standing serisinin ikinci kitabı da serinin okuduğum Sonunda Bende Sevdim kitabı kadar keyifliydi.

Kitapta benim gönlümü çalan kişi kesinlikle Leydi
So I had the last 2 books on my shelf, had to get 1 ans 2. Must read books in order. Found number 1 in the library, and ordered #2 from Amazon and waited and waited!! Received and read today. Am really enjoying this series!!What I liked. The heroine Felicity was 23, practically on the shelf! She was waiting for the right man. An amatuer astronemer, she was looking through a spyglass and saw a man climbing over her fence. She had just wished on a star and a man drops into her garden. It is fate. ...more
I can't believe I took so long to finally read the 2nd book of The Last Man Standing series. I really enjoyed this book! Felicity made a wish that she'd meet her future husband, a man who would give her adventure instead of living a dull married life. Her wish came true when Nigel Cavendish climbed up her balcony. From that moment on she knew she wanted Nigel as her husband but how could she make this man her husband when he was so opposed to the idea of marriage? Nigel was mesmerized by Felicit ...more

Second book in Victoria Alexander's Last Man Standing series.

Again, I was impressed! The plot was very convincing, I thought, despite the 43 million references to "fate". It was definitely the MOST well-written we-fell-in-love-because-it-was-written-in-the-stars type of book I've ever read...!

Anyway, so the Lady Felicity Melville is a 23-year-old woman who's about the enter her 5th season. She took the last year off to tour Europe and such... (Sounds good to me! Where do I sign up?) Anyway, she
I thought this book was fun and sweet, the characters and situations were engaging. Victoria Alexander always brings charm and wit to her novels.

& Daniel.

Nigel Cavendish is known for his scandalous behavior, married women, widows, anyone but those newly turned out virgins.

Felicity Melville was star gazing and wishing upon a star for an adventurous man to marry. At 23 she was on her 5th season, as she missed last season by going on a grand tour. Suddenly there was a dog barking and yelling and a gun shot. She watched as a man shimmied down from the balcony of the house next door and
The second in this series about a group of men who put together a tontine, each man putting in one pound with the pot going to the last unmarried man. As usual, many characters from other Alexander books appear in this novel.
Nigel Cavendish wants to get married some day but not in the near future. He is spending his days bed-hopping, but only with married or widowed women, all of who know the score. But one night, an irate husband tries to take a shot at him and Nigel escapes over the wall to th

One of the funniest books that I have read if not ever then in a long time. Felicity is looking towards marriage but none of the men in her acquaintance stir the least bit of interest in her, they all seem quite dull and not a bit interesting. Until she meets Nigel Cavendish as he flees the irate husband of her next door neighbor. With in moments she decides that he is the one for her, unfortunately Nigel happens to be the least marriage minded man in all of England; to the point that he seems q ...more

3.5* rounded up to 4* for goodreads.

An implausible but nonetheless entertaining romance. It was refreshing to read an historical romance about an intelligent young lady using her brain and her wit to "catch" her man. The writing was often humorous and both main characters well-drawn and likeable. The cast of secondary characters was also entertaining. The story falters a little when the author has Felicity acting inconsistently. Toward the end, Felicity makes a decision about her life, then when

I like Victoria Alexander as an author. She has a clean writing style. Her plots are well-constructed, her dialogue is always well-done and she knows her time period and history.

Here's the problem I have with this book. I simply never liked Felicity. My sympathy was always with Nigel. Yes, he had a lot of control over his own behavior and the scene in which they find themselves in the middle of the book is mostly his fault, but I can't abide a heroine who picks her hero for no apparent reason, p

Okay, this may not be the best romance ever, but it was chock full of a fun take on the regency tropes. Our heroine is, of course, a virgin trying to find a husband during the London Season. It's her 6th Season, and she's totally bored by the concept. Also, she sets her cap for the rake who is determined never to marry. Ever. He sleeps with plenty of women, but he's never hurt a young virgin's reputation; he only sleeps with married women and widows. His particular form of honor won't let him hu ...more
Thought this was going to be a four star book. The story zipped right along and at times made me want to keep reading. Because there was no big conflict between the hero and heroine, the story became rather dull. After having finished the book, I was just left filling let down.
Story line wasn't bad... and it may have been my kindle copy but it was really annoying how tonight was to night with the space and the same with plea sure. They are one word but there was always an annoying space.

Really2 enjoy with this story,,funny and romantic:) love the hero and heroine character :3
Part of series. Found it repetitive. All lead talks about is the want of excitement in her life, but she just flirts for most of the book. There's no excitement if you're not a little daring. Alexander has written better.
I've read several other Victoria Alexanders and this was my least favorite. I am still intrigued to finish this series to learn who will win the bet amongst the four men but, the development of this particular couple's story was rather slow and very lacking in sizzle.
loved this one- my heart sank, I swooned, I laughed, I cried, I breathed a sigh of relief...
I enjoyed the romance and heat between Nigel an Felicity. I interactions between the two are funny and frustrating at times. I got a little sick of their almost making up then comes a surprise and they fight and separate. It happens a few times in the story and by the end I was saying enough already. Though I do quite love the ending. And over all it's a great story and great second story in the series. I am very interested to see how the series ends and how the next two bachelors meet their 'fa ...more
This book was great! You may not believe in fate but you can't fight what the heart truly desires.

Some of this is fun and enjoyable but Nigel(?)the hero is annoying in his refusal to at maturely at the end of the book.
Felicity, our heroine, seems to be the one with her head on her shoulders, it isn't exceptional though so I'm not keeping it.
Plot, basically Felicity sees Nigel after wishing on a star for a husband and decides to make him hers. That's it

“My desire, my sincere and heartfelt desire is to rip that surprisingly sheer garment from your body, toss you onto that bed, and indeed ravish you from head to toe. I wish to make love to you until you are too exhausted to do so much as stand without support. Until you call out my name in your dreams and reach for me in your sleep. Until you can think of no one and nothing beyond the touch of my hand, the caress of my lips.” 13 likes
