Monique ~ Sinfully Sexy Book Reviews
This is a fun, short and very sexy read from Fae Sutherland and I loved it...

 photo d4c362d5-f9a7-4990-a3bd-3c759fee76f9.jpg

Zach our fabulously dazzling Twink and Stevie the shy retiring Police Officer are both great characters and Ms Sutherland manages to keep us smiling right to the end with this most unlikely pairing, you just can’t help but adore them both.

Sergeant Stephen Miranda, after breaking up a disturbance outside one of the clubs on The Strip in downtown Pheonix is left shocked and speechless when a young man dressed in a mesh...more

The 10,000 word ebook Gambling on Maybe introduces us to a cop, 38 year-old Sergeant Stephen Miranda and Zach West, a flamboyant five-foot four-inch gay twenty-something who is so out there that compared to him, a gay pride parade looks like a funeral procession.

After responding to an incident at a gay bar, Sergeant Miranda (aka Officer Hotness) is enchanted by the the stranded Zach and gives him a ride home. After walking Zach to the door he is quite unexpectedly the target a burning kiss foll...more

This was a sweet little read that left me all warm and gooey inside!

Zachary West is 26 years old and about as out and proud as his cute little self can possibly be! Police Officer, Sergeant Stephan Miranda (aka: Officer Hotness) is 38 years old, a career officer, and so far in the closet his world probably looks like that drab beige they paint every new house closet in. So, when he meets Zach, after watching Zach's designated driver reunite with her boyfriend and walk off, leaving Zach driver-le...more

This book was just what I needed. I laughed out loud, a lot. Zach and Stephen (Stevie or Officer Hottness) were awesome. I loved them together. Zach reminded me of Edward, from Edward Unconditionally. He had me rolling, from his lime green shorts with YUM written across the butt in pink lettering, and his fast one-liners. He is an amazing character and just what Stevie needed to brighten up his dull life.
Can't wait to read book two. This was a surprise hit for me and my only two complaints are 1...more

3.5* I have to be in the mood to read twink/flambouyant characters and even then I can only handle small doses but I really liked this pairing. Would have given this book a higher rating if it had been a full lenth novel.

Yesterday I needed a little pick-me up, and I found it in this short story.

Zach and Stephen are so different from each other. Stephen is 38 and a closeted cop, who one night drives home Zach, who is 26 - with 21 looks - and is proudly flamboyant. He is also very perceptive, behind all his glitter. He understands Stephen's needs and engineers a meeting and a dinner to seduce the cop. Stephen is a bit reluctant at the beginning, but he's also tired of hiding, and Zach ignites his passion and also...more

I wasn't crazy about this story at all!! Yeah, it was cute, well Zach was cute, but I feel like I slept through a big chunk of Zach and Stephen's story. One minute Zach is chasing Stevie, then they are fucking, then Stevie is chasing Zach. And somewhere in the middle of all that I totally missed the connection between them...or was it even there?! Blah blah blah

This is short, sexy and fun! Zach is flamboyant, swishy, glittery and full of it, but not in an arrogant way , full of joi de vie and an 'I'm me take me as you find me' attitude, exudes mischief and fun. Steven - a cop - meets him outside a club where he's called to smooth over an argument thats kicked off. Because of it Zach loses his lift home and cheekily persuades Steven to take him home in his squad car. Zach's a major flirt and a minx and before he knows it Stevie (as Zach deides to call h...more

What’s here is great, but it ended before I could get really attached to the characters

Warning: This review might contain what some people consider SPOILERS.

Rating: 7/10

PROS:
- Zach is one of the most adorable characters ever. He’s fun, flirtatious, and absolutely flaming--and proud of it. He “giggles” and “beams” and “traipses” all through the story.
- The story is very funny, especially when describing two things: one, Zach’s attitude toward life: “ugh, his aura just spoke of not nearly enough...more

Fae Sutherland’s Gambling On Maybe is a quick, sexy, sparkly blast of fun topped with an inspirational squeeze to the heart. I had so much fun here! Zach and Stevie had me grinning from ear to ear! Haha…Over the weekend, I made a promise to myself to cut down on my exclamation point usage, but hell…promise broken already! This book is an exclamation point user’s dream come true! :D

This was so freaking adorable - just wanted to pick Zach up and keep him in my pocket, him and all his sparkles and glittering. What a sweet soul and pretty to boot, not to mention that fantastic attitude of positivity and yeah, sparkle that just surrounded him. I think he'd be able to shine that goodness on everyone he meets. But he doesn't have to now that he has Stevie. Wasn't sure about him - seemed too straight-laced and uptight to jump our "heroine" but he wasn't and he...more

I was going to give this 2, but considering how pissed off I still feel almost an hour after finishing, it's got to be a 1.

I don't know what the hell weird alternate universe version of this story I got because all the rest of you seem to like it and it just made me ragey.

1. Stevie, 'Officer Hotness', Sergent in the Phoenix PD. "Hi! I'm a cop! I just got off a long shift patrolling the streets of Phoenix dealing with the dregs of society, and I'm inappropriately cheerful! I think I'll skip home...more

This short story could've gotten better rating for me if not for two reasons:

(1) It's too short. It's only 37 pages and I cannot help to be disappointed when a great story is being cut too short by the author. It's like I just start enjoying a meal but suddenly taken away by the waiter without my permission

(2) A couple of words chosen are weird. I never heard the word a sentence "It totes so", ever! Duly noted that English is not my native, still this sounds weird.

Aside from that, I think it's...more

A cute little story that I enjoyed very much except for one annoying thing. I loved both of the main characters, especially Zach and wished that the story was longer so I could find out how things went with these two. Sometimes it's nice to read something light that doesn't tax your brain trying to keep all the facts straight and this sweet story filled that bill for me.

This would have rated 4.5 stars but the reason I knocked off a half star was the use of a couple of words that might be common...more

Very good short m/m romance about a delightfully flamboyant guy who decides he needs to add some sparkle to a closeted cop's life. My only complaint was that I wanted more! Be aware that this has a HFN ending. Update: And now there's a sequel! :)

The first sentence of Fae Sutherland's Goodreads Author Profile says, "Fae Sutherland has always dreamed of being a published author, starting her writing career off at age 11 with a series of stories she charged her classmates a dollar to read."

She started charging $1 a story for a series at age 11? That explains it. Making money by overcharging for a series of stories is deeply ingrained in her. Great little story but Three Dollars for for just 10,000 words is just plain greedy. After that she...more

It's not often I fall for the characters in a short story so completely, but I was head-over-heels in love with Zach the moment he stepped onto the page. He makes no apologies for who he is, and his genuine, open, fun-loving personality won me over in an instant. I desperately wanted him to find a man worthy of him, and Officer Hotness (AKA: Stevie, AKA: Stephen Miranda) was that perfect guy. I loved the way Fae Sutherland managed to pack so much into so few pages. The characters felt well devel...more

Short, sweet & hot! I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys opposites attract theme. Zach is one of those characters that will make you smile, laugh & wish you knew someone like him.

Zach is the Twink of All Twinks and cadges a ride home from the club from the cop who's there settling a lover's spat, Stephen -- that would be Sargeant Stephen. Or if you're Zach, that would be Stevie or plain old Officer Hotness. Zach is instantly in lust and so is the closeted Stephen, who falls for Zach in spite of himself. How can a closeted cop and a guy who thinks there just is not enough glittery sparkle in the world make it work? Oh my. Be still my heart -- and READ THE BOOK. :D

4.5 stars. I absolutely loved this story and would have given it 5 stars if it had only been longer! Zach is just too stinking cute! He is the most adorable character I have read about in a long time. There's just something about this tiny little twink with a love for pretty clothes and sparkly things along with his cheerful attitude and self-confidence. I couldn't get enough of him. And the way he kept calling his big strong Sergeant Stephen Miranda "Stevie" and "Officer Hotness" had me crackin...more

I'd been hearing that this was really cute and sweet, so I figured I could add it to my collection of 2013 reads. At best, it would be a cute, short read that goes toward my reading challenge. At worst, it would be disappointing and I could return it to Amazon and get my money back. It ended up being the latter; Zach is basically a collection of Fabulous Gay Guy!™ stereotypes, the writing is shoddy and immature (it could've been written by a 12-year-old), and it's obviously just something quickl...more

4.5 stars. Zach has got to go on my list of favorite flamboyant characters and the romance was adorable. As everyone has noted, this is just plain too short and stops right when the interesting part of the story would be starting. (The "where do we go from meeting here" part.) But the author is entitled to do that - it is a complete story, even if I do really want a sequel novel. However the reason that I docked the half-star was that the plot was a little too conflict-free and easy for my prefe...more

A short, sweet tale of a twink and a cop

Great review from Monique, so a quick 'thanks very much and really enjoyed it' from me. Zach is a wonderful character, and Stevie is just drawn to him like a moth to a flame, the fact that he's a cop not seeming to matter, and why should it??

Well done to the author for writing believable characters, and making it a fun and hot read!!

This is a short, HEA read, which is packed with goodies that I really liked. Wanted it to be longer to see how Zach and Steve’s relationship works out. The story takes place over the course of a few days. There is a “hiccup” in there (bitch), but it gets sorted in the end.

We find officer Miranda aka Officer Hotness (Steve), confirmed bachelor, *phffft* at the scene of a dispute at a gay club. We also find Zach, wh...more

Being out and proud is a very personal choice. Not everyone is strong enough to be true to themselves, regardless of the consequences. Zach, in 'Gambling on Maybe' by Fae Sutherland, accepts these consequences with a bravery that I wish I had. Zach lives his life with a grace and style uniquely his. One of Zach's strong points is being able to read a person's behavior. When Officer Stephen Miranda enters his life, Zach immediately feels the chemistry between them and suspects that the other man...more

This was a wonderful short little read that suffered from … being too short, ending too quickly, leaving me desperate for more. However, Zach is exactly the kind of character I love. He’s sparkly and optimistic and proud of who he is and has no regrets. He’s not ashamed of himself or his life and doesn’t care if others don’t like it. That kind of thing totally confuses straight-laced cop Stephen whose spent most of his career coming off as the straight confirmed bachelor. He’s been happ...more

First off, I must admit that I love the cover. Better yet, I loved this story. I am not a big fan of short story's, but this was something special.

Fae Sutherland wrote an opposites attract story that just worked. Almost from the first page I was laughing. I fell in love with both Zach (who should of annoyed me, but didn't) and Stephan. Both these men were brilliant. I am so happy that I found out about these little treasures. I am reading the next one straight away. I can't get enough of this.

I like it, really like it, but it's just too short! So I give it 3 instead of 4 stars ^^

Zach is so cute, a bit reminds me to Jory (A Matter of Time), while Officer Hotness (ha...^^)is kind and mature, i like how he handling their circumstances.

I wish it's a bit longer, add some more twist, about that lady officer maybe... XDD

New category: books I read just because I was bored and wanted to see why Daniel hated the MC so much.

I didn't have enough brainpower left over to be annoyed at sparkly twink; I was too busy being horrified that Officer Steve was chuckling over the domestic assault perpetrator making up with the domestic assult victim, and letting them leave together without a second thought.

Please fix the typos

This is a really quick and fun read! Zach is a Twinkie fashionista spreading his sparkles everywhere he goes. Stevie is brawny cop - deep in the closet but looking for a way out.

As much as I enjoyed the story, the typos were annoying and made some parts of the story unreadable. I would have rated it higher were it not for the typos.

Fae Sutherland has always dreamed of being a published author, starting her writing career off at age 11 with a series of stories she charged her classmates a dollar to read. She has since progressed to more serious writing, though always keeping that dash of irreverence and fun (and a hell of a lot more heat!). Also, she charges just slightly more than a dollar now.
