This book was very enlightening on the science and medicine of hypnosis. I am one of the people who thought that hypnosis might be more of a scam and stage magic act rather than a true medical practice. This book really opened my eyes to true hypnosis practice--in which you do not quack like a duck but gain control of your life in whatever direction you are seeking help with. The author, Dr. Steven Gurgevich, is an associate of Dr. Andrew Weil, whose integrative approach to health and medicine offers a sense a balance and logic missing from other opinions in those fields. "Hypnosis House Call" is the first I have read on hypnosis as an instrument for healing and while the stories of successful cases that were shared by the author were impressive, I am guessing that hypnosis is far frim achieving unuversal acceptance for healing. I read this for professional reasons and enjoyed it. I've been curious for a while about using hypnosis to sleep better and ignore the ambient noises that wake me up. It's cool to learn that it could potentially work for other issues like stress management, headaches and weight loss.
