This was another enjoyable read by LMR. Strangely enough, Nick and Charity were my least favorite H/h by this author so far, even though this wasn't my least favorite book.

I don't know, I got the impression that Nick wasn't as uncomfortable as he should have been about lying to Charity and, quite frankly, he should have never agreed to let her pull that stunt in the villain's mansion before all hell broke loose - especially if you consider that he knew she wasn't a good liar and couldn't be expe...more

Maybe its just me, but I wasn't blown away by this one. I did enjoy the main characters and story, and the romance was certainly hot. My biggest issue is that I have trouble with any book that forces a full scale romance into just a few days. In short, the timeline of how and when things happen moved at hyperspeed to the point of unrealistic, which drives me nuts in romance novels. I also found the bad guy's obsession with Charity a bit over the top, but it worked. There really is a lot to love...more

Lisa Marie Rice can write the hell out of a story!!
"Dangerous Secrets" is her new release and her fans will not be disappointed. She's done an excellent job of making the jump to a big publishing house without losing her trademark steam.

Charity is a small town librarian who sacrificed her dreams to tend to her failing, elderly aunt and uncle who ended up raising her after the traumatic death of her parents. She's stunned and thrilled when a wealthy, handsome businessman turns up in her small tow...more

Dangerous Secrets is one of the best romantic suspense books that I have read in quite awhile. That is saying alot, as I have been fortunate enough to read numerous really good ones lately. This book included everything I could have wanted in this type of novel - wonderful characters, an engrossing and suspenseful storyline, and an intense passion that turned into an enchanting romance. I was almost immediately captivated with this story, and was kept enthralled throughout the book. I loved the...more

Finally, a new book by Lisa Marie Rice and another for my "favorites" bookshelf. This author knows how to weave a good story with fantastic characters, toss in some good suspense and mix in some steamy scenes. I don't believe this qualifies as an erotic read, but more sensuous in nature. The intimacy was hot mainly in the feelings of the characters not in the graphic details. It was well done.

This author has a nice style of writing. She does more than pluck down a few words. For instance, when...more

A very good book. I liked this one better then the first one. There is a great plot, steamy sex and romance. Could not put it down.

Nick is undercover in a small town in Vermont. He is trying to bring down a Russian mob leader. Part of this plan includes getting close to Charity, a good friend to the bad guy. The bad guy is delusional and also thinks that Charity is his reincarnated dead wife. She of course has no idea that the bad guy is a bad guy at all. Charity is a librarian in town, and leads a very quiet life. She has no family aside from her elderly aunt and uncle, whom she looks after. Nick ends up bedding Charity—ra...more

I was really disappointed. Rice's books are usually pretty dead-on for me, whereas this one didn't really have any moments or chemistry that I was able to get into. Charity was a good person, but not all that interesting as a character; lost her parents when she was young, spent some time recovering from an injury, would like to travel but is trapped in her hometown because her uncle and aunt are infirm. A very good person, but she was just so serene, well-adjusted, compassionate, and intelligen...more

I really enjoyed this book immensely. LMR has a way of drawing the reader into the story immediately. She weaves a wonderful tale. This book's ending was perfect, unlike Dangerous Lover; this is how an epilog should be written. I believe she has another Dangerous book coming out soon. I look forward to reading it.

I didn't know that this book was in a series till about an hour ago. I proceeded to make arrangements to get the rest of the series immediately. I've had this book for about a year, and I've read it start to finish about thrice. I've also read just bits and pieces of it whenever I needed a pick-me-up. I love Nick. He's funny. The conversations he has with himself are so endearing and so well-written, I sometimes feel Nick himself wrote them.

I usually stay away from the girly, too-pure-to-even-to...more

Lisa Marie Rice's Nightfire was reviewed on Dear Author today. Because I am cheap and am unwilling to pay premium e-book prices for authors I've never tried, I downloaded this instead based solely on the fact that it was $4.99. Having read it, I'd say that it was well above the 99 cent level, but not quite to the five-dollar level. Really, this was about $2.99 worth of book.

Warning: the below is going to be spoilery, although if you've read many romances, really, nothing in this should surprise...more

4.5 stars. Hot lustful sex scenes, no kinkiness, a fluffy read. Undercover agent protects delicate heroine from someone evil.

STORY BRIEF:
Vassily is a famous Russian novelist who spent years in a Soviet prison camp. He is now wealthy and recently moved to a small town in Vermont. Vassily becomes good friends with Charity the local librarian. She moved to this town to care for her elderly aunt and uncle. Nick is an undercover agent for Homeland Security. He suspects Vassily is involved in terroris...more

I was going through my reviews the other night when I found that I had not reviewed my favorite Lisa Marie Rice novel from her Dangerous series, the other 2 in the series which I have already read and reviewed before. I remembered Dangerous Secrets to be a novel that made a huge impact on all my senses and that is the main reason why I decided to re-read and do a full review on this one. It has taken me ages to read and review this, not because this book in anyway fell short of my very high expe...more

I liked this one a lot more than i liked the first of this series. this time around the H/H seemed to really click. you also had not just one heck of a bad guy, but he was incredibly crazy to boot. as if being a terrorist, selling all sorts of illegal contraband, hiring killers, and running a mafia isn't enough he also thinks that a random girl in Vermont is his dead girlfriend reincarnated. being held and crippled in russian prison camps did make him slightly sympathetic. at least you can imagi...more

4 1/2 stars. A wonderful suspenseful tale of a dangerously competent agent who endangers his mission when he becomes entangled with the surprisingly passionate librarian who is a link to a vicious madman. The connection that springs up between the two people who are constrained by many circumstances beyond their control grows despite everything that should prevent it. Nicholas Ireland, the man known as the "Iceman", discovers that it is possible for someone to get past his barriers even as he is...more

So I ate this up, pretty much, but like the first book in the series, there was this elaborate bad guy set up and then the epiphany was so brief, it leaves a reader feeling like - Why bother with all that build up? That's IT?

And the complicated love relationship, if you'll excuse the reference, climaxed in a non-climactic way as well.

So if you love the law enforcement romance genre, this is not a total waste of time. I like that it's actually not really tied to book #1 at all. The only glue hold...more

being the second book in a series, I was expecting a tie to Dangerous Lover and yet there wasn't an open tie. The theme of former military connects this tome with the first.

A quiet and lovely librarian becomes the focus of an undercover agent, as well as his conquest, in his endeavor to arrest an international crime lord. The love between these two burns hot and bright in just a few days and when her safety becomes threatened by the man she believes to be a literary genius and quietly retired m...more

Charity Prewitt is a small town librarian whose only living relatives are an elderly aunt and uncle. She is not prepared for Nick, billionaire stockbroker to enter her life and sweep her world from under her. Nick isn't who he seems to be, he is an undercover agent and right now his mission is Charity. Having been around the world on many assignments Nick feels up to challenge of this one. But Nick isn't prepared for the feelings that arise from spending time with Charity and lying to her. This...more

Excellent read! At first i thought that the long book would bore me halfway through it but the author managed to keep the hooked on every page! I feel in love with Nick and felt a surge of pride when Charity was willing to risk everything and go undercover. At some points i found the books dragging like when the same situation was being told from Charity's point of view and Nick point of view causing them to overlap, having me read the same situation twice. I also found Arakady's point of view c...more

I really loved this book. I have loved everything that Lisa Marie Rice has written and I have read. Ms. Rice is a wonderful writer with a real sense of how tough alpha males think and speak. I have loved all her heroes and look forward to each new book. She also knows how to write really despicable villains. The one in this book is no exception. This book was set in Vermont in winter and you could almost feel the cold and see the snow falling. I loved Nick and Charity and the way they seemed to...more

I picked this book up just because I like branching out into new writers every once and a while. Reading the back cover I put it back and came back to it and put it back and finally picked it up and purchased it. NO REGRETS!!! I love a book that is like a good movie, and that is what this book is. It is reading a movie. Edge of your seat, falling back in relief when all the excitement is over and then flipping more pages to find out what is going to happen next. My only issue is the while the ro...more

A good, quick read. Once I started, it didn't take me long to finish.

I really liked the characters and the chemestry between Charity & Nick. I've read a few 'Covert Op's' books, and things were simular, but still this was a unique story. When Nick came isn with a 'Fake' Name and background, I was waiting for when he was going to have to come clean.
Charity was a bit nieve, with a 'small town' trust, and Nick could have really taken advantage of her (more then he did), but he was one of the 'G...more

After re-reading Dangerous Lover (Avon Red) and liking it alot more than the first time around, I thought I'd give this one a try. I was a big fan of Lisa Marie Rice when she wrote for Ellora's Cave, but her first Avon Red title was a bit disappointing, although much better after a second reading. Unfortunately, Dangerous Secrets didn't measure up for me. The last third of the book was pretty great, but the first two-thirds dragged, the evil doers weren't that interesting, and the hero, although...more

This was a great book. I loved Charity & Nick. Even though they fell in love & married all in a week, it was totally believable. The suspenseful aspect of the book worked, too. My biggest complaint, aside from a QUICK ending, was the big misunderstanding. Nick fakes his own death after someone tries to kill him, and Charity has to bury her "husband" and grieve for him, basically while he watches from close by. LMR did redeem herself by having Nick blow his cover to tell Charity he was st...more
