Twenty-eight stories, published between 1891 and 1994, but with a concentration on the period between the World Wars (fourteen stories) and, unsurprisingly in this famously British genre, British writers (twenty-four stories). At its core, I think spy fiction is ill-suited to the short story, as it is built around complication and betrayal of trust (which requires time for the trust to be built in the first place).
