The Trove of the Passion Room
by
Marcia Lynn McClure (Goodreads Author)
“The Trove of the Passion Room is not simply a story. Nor is it only a fable, a legend or mere nonsensical superstition. It exists. There is a trove hidden in The Passion Room…a trove that has never before in its fullness been found—for it is hidden by the spell of passion that lingers within the room itself. The passion inspired of the room cannot be denied. It cannot be...more

This has become one of my top 5 Marcia books. Don't get me wrong I actually love and have read and own all of them ( don't remind my husband). This is one of Marcia's contemporary stories mingled with the old, which I love.
Sharlamagne works in her parent's small antique boutique shop along with her sister and parents. Sharlamagne loves people, is kind, sweet, and she loves old things. She loves old things not just because they are old but because of their story and the people behind the objects....more

OH MY STARS FOR THE LOVE OF LIZA!!!!!!!!One of the best book by Marcia Lynn McClure!!!!! I am in love.....thank you so much for sharing the story with us. i loved the characters....loved the WWII dance.(would really want to go to one now) All the kissing made me have the thrill of being kissed.(that what i love about all her books....they all do the same thing.) so all in all Love, LOVE, LOVE this book!!!!!!!!
I might actually rate this 3.5? I really LOVED the first half of this book!!! I loved the back and forth between Max and Shar. I thought it was so great. I even squealed a couple of times!!! I do wish there would have been a little bit of a better ending. There were a few things, in my opinion, that needed to be wrapped up a little better. Like Max's parents. I think there could have been more to that. I was a little uncomfortable about what Max's grandma's dream....who wants their grandma dream...more
This book is another new favorite of mine from Marcia Lynn McClure! She truly knows how to write a book that pulls you into the story and makes you feel as if you just made new friends with these characters. I loved everything about this story. The passion with this couple was amazing, and fit the story so well. Very well written, and I hated to see it end..even though I loved the ending as well! Just when you think she can't possibly top the last book she wrote... she does it again, and I love...more
November 2011: Once again, I ended up liking this one more the second time around. Maybe because I knew what to expect? Anyway, it's a fun story and I really liked the characters. I liked that we were able to "hear" things from Maxim's point of view. Lots of great kissing and great chemistry between the two. A conflict free relationship, which is fun to read once in awhile.

My review is to come but can I just say this.... Marcia has always dazzled me with how swoony and delicious her men are and the kisses that make my knees melt. I went into this book expecting the same and was left with the following statement: "HOT DAMN!" I really feel that she has FAR outdone herself with this book. She's gone from swoony to SEXY swoony and it wasn't just my knees that were melting. Not only was Sharlamagne endearing but Maxim was compeltely edible and OOZED sexuality. I really...more
3.5 stars for this book...
I finally, FINALLY received my copy of this book in the mail. I have been waiting forever to get it. I ordered it way back in April or May but due to some printing issues, I guess, it got pushed back and pushed back. I got it in the mail on Tuesday and had it read by Wednesday morning.

Normally I don't write negative reviews, but since I have always loved this author , my disappointment ran deeper. Yes, I was sad she decided to add quite a bit of language to this book, but what I found worse was the justification for it in the author's notes. If you choose to write a certain way, just do it. Don't try to rationalize your reasons because your worried about offending your readers. That's the part that makes me more angry about her deviation from the norm. I've always been able t...more
Hmmmmmm....I had to let this marinate in my mind a little before giving it a review.
Things I liked: the story, the characters, the kisses :o)
Things I didn't like: Ok, I know people swear, and I don't mind a few in a book, but this was a little more than average, for a McClure book. All of her books have passionate kisses, but this book pushed the limits a lot for a "clean" romance. It talked a lot about carnal desires, sex and lust. (Yeah for abstinence before marriage!) Now, I know these are na...more

I really enjoyed this book! The title would have sent up a red flag for me if it wasn't written by Marcia Lynn McClure. Usually the word passion is only used in a romance book when talking about the "s word"(you'll understand the reference if you've read the book). This book is all about people who feel really strongly about things or people ( or are very passionate about them). I really liked that this book championed deep passionate love in marriage. She also made it very clear that the swoon-...more
This book took me by surprise. I was expecting a retelling of the 12 dancing princess and instead Marcia delivered another modern romance story about an old woman's secret in the passion room. I loved how Marcia has unique names for her characters and how they seem so real...except for the kissing scenes of course! :) Sharlamagne is the daughter of an antique dealer and loves the history behind everything that is brought in. She finds a friend and customer with their common love of antiques in E...more
Ok so I love all her books, this one included. But there were some minor annoyances that could have easily been remedied. Some of the story felt like filler, a lot of repeating the same information over again in a slightly different way. It started off a lot slower than I am used to her in her books, not a bad thing, but I am used to jumping right in to the action. This book takes a bit before getting to the "passion." The passion bits were good though. Some friendly farm language, didn't really...more
So good! Did I expect anything less? Answer: Nope-not really! While this wasn't my absolute favorite (Pirate Ruse being number one) it's still definitely on the top ten list! I love that Marcia can write a book for any time period! If it's olden days it's a lot of longing or smoldering looks and brief touches. If it's one of her modern books it super fun dating situations. From westerns to old english to modern day each book holds something special! In this particular book I loved the message of...more
Like the main character, Sharlamagne, I have my own taboo words. I would blush at using the word sexy, at least, the 21 year old version of me did. So, I could really relate to Sharlamagne. I also paused in reading this book because I kept thinking, "Passion room? What kind of story is this?"
So, here's the plot: Sharlamagne works for her Dad at his antique store. She's good at it, and really gets attached to one of the customers, Elisaveta. When Elisaveta dies years later, Sharlamagne is surpri...more

Marcia has done it once again. I'm not surprised at all to have been sucked in and finished another one of her books in 2 days. Romantic story of a spunky grandmother that manages to hook her hottie grandson up with her cute little friend from her favorite antique shop. The funny thing is that I have been in and out of antique shops this past week and started this book not knowing the underlying love of antiques that the characters have. Coincidence.... maybe, or maybe not. Definitely worth the...more
It made me laugh out loud with it's ridiculousness. It's too bad she has such a limited vocabulary and talent for putting words together - like she has a dictionary and thesaurus sitting next to her with a list of favorite words - because she has pretty good story ideas, and in the hands of a better writer they would be much more satisfying. Her speech and sentences are formed in such an odd way, it's uncomfortable to read, and she just uses the same adjectives over and over. There are lots of e...more
I find I really struggle with Marcia's modern books that are written with no conflict in the relationship(besides a little self-doubt here and there), and also where she writes the story more about or for close friends. I think there is such a thing a puting too MUCH passion in a story, and that is what I feel she did here. You can tell Marcia is passionate about antiques, so that is ALL the story is about. I like a story to be more REAL with struggles and misunderstandings and jealousy, ect. Bu...more
This is probably one of my favorite contemporary novels that Marcia has written. I am a big fan of Marcia Lynn McClure and almost always start my reviews with “this is a favorite of mine”. That being said though, I always prefer her historical over her contemporary novels. I just find the romance more believable and intriguing in historicals but I must say that this book was amazing! I completely bought in to the romance and loved every sweet and passionate second of it! The way the story is wri...more
When one of Marcia's books come out I just buy them. Yep. I don't check them out from the library and read them first because I know I will fall in love and end up buying them anyway. This is another treat I fell in love with. How dang cute is that slightly crazy, have to love her just as she is Elisaveta? She is the darling grandmother that every kid wants to grow up with. Lucky Maxim! I lovvvved him. I was thoroughly disgusted by his parents and had so much empathy for his somewhat shallow lif...more
About 8 pm last night a wonderful surprise was awaiting me. An email from Marcia that contained a Kindle version of The Trove of the Passion Room. Despite being caught up in the middle of two other books I just had to start this one! And is always the case once I start a Marcia Lynn McClure book I have a hard time putting it down! Sleep was sacrificed and cleaning and errands had to wait so I could read this.

I loved this book. I couldn't put it down. Read it in one day. It was fun, romantic, and full of mystery. Sharlamagne and Maxim (a very hot jeans model) meet, and fall in love quickly. But will family troubles, and a mysterous Passion room be an obstical for them?
McClure is one of my favorite authors. She is clean, but very passionate. Tons of kissing, but control before marriage. This book had a few light cuss words, and the kissing was intense, but very good.

Modern romances by Marcia are not my favorite, and this book was no exception. It is a cute story that true to form keeps you interested, but there was a little too much emphasis on the physical part of the two main characters relationship for my taste. There didn't seem to be much else happening after their first kiss besides, of course, more kissing. I was hoping for a little more plot in this book, but it is a fun little romance, and I did enjoy reading it.
I guess I'm more a fan of Marcia's earlier books. Her historical fictions are great! I haven't loved her modern romances much.
There was absolutely no plot in this book- just a lot of antique talk and nonstop kissing for the second half. She didn't need to make excuses for her farm language. Repetition was tedious at times too.
MLM has three more books coming out soon. I hope they are better. She is such a talented writer and one of my favorites!

I really liked this contemporary romance, partly because I am totally in love with antiques. (Oh, and I have also been accused of having a hickey because I burned my neck on a curling iron.) The story itself is pretty cliche; a little predictable, but still interesting nonetheless. I loved the humourous scenes that made me laugh along with the characters until I almost cried. Overall not too bad in every other way. MLM is always a good clean read, no matter what may be insinuated...
Loved it just like I've loved all Marcia's books. In the beginning, I struggled with how much all the women characters "giggled". There was a lot of giggling. I have no objections to the actual giggling process, I just got sick of that word and the air-headedness it connotes in my head. But, I kept reading and the characters got less giggly and more real and I found myself laughing and crying with them. Loved this story!
I absolutely loved this book! I could not put the book down. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good clean romance. It reminded me so much of how life was when my husband and I were engaged. The title of the book makes it sound like it is gonna be a trashy romance novel, but since I've read other Marcia Lynn McClure books I knew that it would be a clean read.
I loved this one! LOVED! I love the antiques. I love the WWII stuff. It reminded me of my Grandpa who was a WWII vet. I love the main characters. I love the passion room. It sounds so s-word-y. :) It is obvious that McClure is passionate about this story. I think the where McClure is passionate about her subject matter it really takes the story to a whole new level.
I know this title sounds like it would be an absolutely scandalous book...but its very tame as romance novels go. I love how the whole story is wrapped up in the love of a wonderful grandmother and friend and comes full circle. Maxim is the idea of a perfect gentleman. Loved this book, so glad I stumbled across it through my amazon recommendations.
This was not high on my list of favs from this author. I had trouble with her "modern" dialog. It isn't realistic for anything current. I don't know any twenty something men who collect rare marbles or twenty something women who are too embarrassed to say the word sex? That said, I still enjoyed the story and I'm still a big fan of this author's other books.

Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Marcia Lynn McClure grew up influenced by the reminiscent stories of rugged, rural Colorado farm life fascinatingly recounted to her by her parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts…tales of runaway buckboards, mule-drawn plows and dust pneumonia; verbalized images of stream-flooded meadows, frozen over in winter, where a child could peer through the crystal clear ic...more
