I bought this book because I'd really enjoyed one of this author's earlier books, ENCHANTED, which is a Harlequin release. If an author can write a good book in the oppressive restrictions of catagory romance, I usually deem them worthy of a try with a full-length novel, where there are fewer rules.
At first, there were a lot of things to like about THE DAMSEL. Though it's the second book in a trilogy, it works perfectly well as a stand-alone. The reader doesn't have to have read THE More...

Three years ago Burke de Montvieux visited Kiltorren and met Alys, a woman who captured his heart. But her aunt and uncle were determined to have Burke marry one of their own daughters. Through their scheming they sent Burke away, but he continued dreaming of his Alys. Now Burke has been sent on his own bride quest and he refuses to return home until he finds his lost love.
Alys is treated like a maid by her household instead of the noble lady she is. And there is a rule: Alys shall n More...

About a knight named Burke, who is going to find his bride, a woman he thinks turned him away 3 years before. Turns out she never knew that he offered, and she was treated by a maid by her aunt and uncle. They leave for France, to get married, and she brings her shy cousin with them so that they can find her a husband. Turns out that Alys is an heiress, and her father is a knight. This is the 2nd in the Bride Quest series. First one is The Princess. Third one is The Heiress.

I didn't pay attention when I picked this up. It is a series; and I'm going to apparently have to search for the other books.
This book is your typical romance novel. It isn't bad. But it ain't the Great Gatsby either.

I was looking forwards to a good Cinderella story: gotta say, I was disappointed: the heroine spent the first 2/3 of the book not believing the hero, and I just felt that she was sometimes TSTL.. 3 stars..
