Marvel delivers another great art book for Thor. The unique design was one of the most fascinating things about this production, albeit often taking things in an odd direction. Still, for lover's of film design, this book is a treat. Filled with wonderful concept art and costume designs, led by the magnificent Ryan Meinerding, this book is a treat for the eyes. Best of all is seeing all the variations on Thor's iconic suit of armor, from interpretations of the classic comic looks to the final de...more

Another art/design book featuring a movie from the latest Marvel releases (The Art of Iron Man, Iron Man: The Art of Iron Man 2, Captain America: The Art of Captain America - The First Avenger, Avengers: The Art of Marvel's The Avengers).

Some brilliant concept art, design info and other great pictures are printed to these pages. Some of my favorites are in promotional photos, some of which never saw the light of day but definitely should have.

All in all the book focused a lot on the designs of A...more

The Art of Thor is a 240 page hardcover art book that comes with a slipcase. The cover has a faux leather texture with the title embossed and a sticker of a piece of art pasted. The paper quality is like thicker magazine paper, just like the Iron Man movie art books, also published by Marvel.

If you haven't watch the movie, the spoilers in the book will come in the form of characters that aren't shown in the trailers. There are lots of designs for the characters,...more
This book's one fault is that some of the images appear either slightly or in one case heavily pixelated. This is not good for an art book, where the pictures ARE the book...nevertheless I still loved the book as a whole. (I did know about this issue before I got it; that might have helped keep it from being too bothersome.)
It has what you'd expect from a movie art book: concept art and production stills (plus a few pieces of art from the comics, as well a few pages of poster designs, both used...more
My rating would have been higher if there would have been more about Loki. Also, some of the pictures are a bit grainy and pixellated, which you wouldn't expect in an art book. But aside from that, I enjoyed the book. It has beautiful photography and really went through and explained all the art-aspects of Thor. It also had fun tie-in explanations between the comic books and the movie. Most of all, I enjoyed seeing the progression of the concept costumes to what actually made it on film.
I am caught in Avenger' s frenzy and it cost me already great deal of money. I rewatched Thor for sev... I would not tell how many times and decided to buy this book and it showed to be good hit. The book itself is handsomely done and the content is fitting for any fanish question and lot of pictures made one droll. The early art concepts were quite scary.
