This will appeal to young truck lovers of which there are many, however in this brief story (appropriate for a level one easy reader) the few words are not the ones usually found in a level one - barrel, decorates, the names Gabby and Melvin. The story is appealing - but I would have preferred language that was more accurately a level one.
My boys love Jon Scieszka's Trucktown series.
I had high hopes for this. For those familiar with the characters or young beginning readers, this will do fine. But as an overall piece of reading, it holds together very loosely. It's hard to distinguish the characters, and a plain font might have been easier to read. Nevertheless, the art and author's name ensure this will generate attention!
