The prologue to Julie Ann Dawson’s A Game of Blood opens with Vampyre Night at Club Decadence, but the vampires in question are costumed party-goers and really don’t seem worth the effort Rachel went to to get a fake ID. Then she sees that one perfectly handsome stranger…

The cops assigned to find or save Rachel when she goes missing aren’t impressed with vampire wannabes either, but clever detective work and wise intuitive leaps offer surprising leads. Soon Mitch is obsessing over rich guy Dariu

This book combines two of my favorite things: paranormal elements and a good ole police procedural. It is also an enjoyable alternative to the standard vampire tale. I enjoyed the fact that the vampires here are what I consider "old-school" vampires and the author includes their reaction to some of the popular vampire fiction out there today- very entertaining.

I liked the interplay between our hero, detective Mitch Grogan, and his nemesis, the vampire Darius Hawthorne. You never quite know what

This book did keep me reading..but I didn't like the ending so well. I like the ending for one of the characters, but I didn't fell like the character "Mitch" got a good ending for himself...overall it was kinda interesting

I normally don't read vampire stories however I won this on good reads and I really enjoyed the book. This is less a true horror novel than it is a twisted crime thriller with a cast of supernatural characters.

“In a way, Darius brings the vampire back to a more classical interpretation. A modern day Dracula who is charming, sensual, and completely monstrous. There is no pretense of humanity with him. He considers himself a member of a species that is the true apex predator of the world, feeding on humans and using them as puppets for their own bizarre games. He's not struggling with any inner angst. Most humans are either food, entertainment, or useful tools to him. Sometimes all three. He finds the modern popular interpretation of vampires both amusing and useful for his own agenda.” 3 likes
