Nice light novella. Good story but pretty predictable. For those who enjoy Brennan's Lucy Kincaid series, this is a prequel, billed as Lucy Kincaid, 0.5. I got this for $.99 on Kobo and it was worth it. Only a few digital imprint errors.

Okay, here's a diversionary rant. When a well known and well respected publisher digitizes one of their books, there are very rarely spelling, grammatical or word usage errors. Now that many authors are self-publishing direct to digital and direct-to-digital pub...more

This novella made me want to write Allison Brennan a letter. A letter pleading with her to write novels like this: quick-witted, streamlined, developed characters, fabulous family interaction, and just a bit of sap. For the first time since Kiss Me, Kill Me, I am giving four stars to a Brennan story for all of the reasons listed above.

I actually like Sean and Lucy's relationship (minus the ill-timed sex scenes) but I feel like the relationship often takes away from exploring Lucy's relationship...more

It really isn't fair to rate this book because I thought it was the continuing story after Love me to death. Instead it is a prequel to Love me to death and I could not read the story knowing what she was going to go through. I think the author could have just made this a separate book and I could have given it a shot.

This book reminded me of the game (& movie) Clue. Guests in a lodge during a storm. & because of the storm none can leave. Someone is murdered. Who did it?

The suspects were narrowed down pretty quickly so the "who did it" wasn't much a surprise, but it did keep my attention. Quick, easy read.

This novella is a "locked-room" mystery. One of six guests staying at a secluded resort is murdered during a snow storm that prevents law enforcement officials from getting to the resort. A brother and sister solve the case through careful analysis of the crime scene.

This was a 74 page novella e-book. It was pleasant enough, with some suspense and action. Lucy Kincaid is a nice heroine, backed up by her older brother. One of the guests at the Delarosa has been killed, but no one knows why--at first. Treachery abounds.
Darcy
This was a quick little story where Lucy ends up solving things mostly on her own. Patrick is there to help, but he is quickly incapacitated and things are left to Lucy. She makes some great leaps in thinking that help to figure out the bad guy.

Fun and refreshing. I liked the mystery and the suspense; the way Lucy’s mind worked as she processed every detail. I’m not familiar with Ms. Brennan’s work, but I liked what I read, so I will be reading more from this series.

a little slow to start and a little fast to finish. brennan seems to have some beginning of series pacing issues. charcters are ok and might be awesome when the author finds her footing. might try first full novel and see where it goes.

I seldom like short stories or novellas since I want to read more of the story and characters. However, since the characters are from other books I've read I enjoyed this more than usual.
Ann
Novella that was a "Free Friday" choice from Barnes and Noble for my nook. The author has written several other titles with this main character and I will certainly put them on my "to read" list.

A great little novella, which in the time it takes place, should be placed as 0.5 rather than 1.5, as it takes place before the first book in the series.

Lucy & Patrick go on a ski vacation and a dead body turns up. A blizzard keeps the sheriffs dept out but Lucy finds the evidence.
Joanne
Lucy and her brother Patrick take off for a ski weekend and end up encountering people being drugged, vandalized property and murder.

Kathleen
part of a series, kind of a short book - have read some of the other books related to her family, would definitely read more
Roxy
Novella length story. Good insight into the Patrick/Lucy brother-sister dynamic.
Books n' Cooks
Not a bad story, but I missed the detail and depth of Brennan's other books.
Dawn
I really liked this book. It was just the right kind of suspense.

Not terribly thrilling compared to the other books. Novella may not be her best style.

This is a prequel to the Lucy Kincaid series. For being a novella it was really good. I haven't read any books in the series, but after reading this I will.

Lucy and her brother are on vacation at a ski lodge when a murder happens. The two of them take action and try to figure out who did it, before anyone else meets an untimely death.
Bronwyn
Not terrible for a short story.
Stacy McKitrick
The only thing wrong is that it was too short (78 pages). But hey, it's only got me more interested in reading the rest of the books in this series. I really like Lucy.
