I love the way Chris's lines move backwards and forewards, elaborating on a point by going somewhere else altogether, instead of just stating the obvious. Stroffolino can have it any way he wants it, rococco or not. Very good selection of his work, Chris is a wonder. When he reads, his eyes go up to the ceiling, as if he's looking for yet another way to digress, and he often does find another way, interrupting the poems with a sort of running commentary on whatever, which can be infuriating and ...more
Within Stroffolino's framework of logical knots, ideas mostly in metaphorical roles follow dizzyingly upon each other in trains of association (and thoroughly non-gratuitous pop song references), seemingly driven by a compulsion to try to make life's swirling fragments of every size add up to some coherent scheme which could only be reached if their interrelationships could be explored to the fullest depths in all directions simultaneously.
