Proper decorum has never come easily to Carlotta Anne Fairleigh—not even tonight, when the lovely, impetuous miss is finally making her debut. As she waits to make her entrance, she can't help wondering about the darkened house next door, the supposedly abandoned home of Hayden St. Clair, the man society has dubbed the "Murderous Marquess." Certainly one small peek through...more

I just cannot get enough of Teresa Medeiros' works lately! Every novel that I read by her always contains lots of drama and hot love scenes that just gets me in an excited mood! Well, I have just recently read my fourth Teresa Medeiros book called “One Night of Scandal” and believe me, I immediately got hooked onto this book! “One Night of Scandal” is the second book in Teresa Medeiros' Fairleigh Sisters series, being the sequel to “A Kiss to Remember,” and this time, the book stars Carlotta Ann...more

Carlotta Anne Fairleigh has always been a little too curious for her own good. Which would probably explain how she got the nickname: the Hereford Hellion. Of course, it could have nothing to do with the fact she let loose a pony in a teacher's room, or the multitude of other pranks she pulled as a child. No, it just seems Lottie has always had a knack for getting herself into a heap of trouble, which would probably explain why she is finally having her coming out ball at the age of twenty-one....more

A very pleasant way to spend your reading time. Teresa Medeiros always tells a good tale.

I love Teresa Medeiros' writing; she creates such vivid pictures, it doesn't take a whole lot of imagination to "see" her stories. I loved the gothic feel of this story- Cornwall, the moors, the cliffs by the sea... I loved it all! This story was also very Jane Eyre-esque, which I loved. However, there wasn't enough interaction between the H/h for their love to be believable. I craved more time between the two of them, especially once the conflict was resolved.

This was a fantastic story! This book is the sequel to A KISS TO REMEMBER, but really stands alone. I didn't read the first book and it didn't take away anything from my enjoyment for this book.

The characters come alive in this story with a wide range and depth of emotions and personality. The heroine, Carlotta, tries to make the best of the situation she finds herself in, being married to a man who is rumored to have murdered his first wife and stepmother to a little girl who is both older and...more

This is the sequel to "A Kiss to Remember" and finishes the story of Lottie, the younger sister in the previous romance novel. While it is still a historical novel, there is one key change to this story. This story is gothic in tone. It is not quite "Wuthering Heights" good, though it did remind me a LOT of "Jane Eyre." Instead, it is reminiscent of Louisa May Alcott's "Blood and Thunder" tales. This fact alone had me endlessly delighted in the moors, the ghosts, and the heroine's melodramatic t...more

This book had it's high and low moments but I thought the plot was a little haphazard. Too much thrown in. The paranormal references were totally unnecessary and unappreciated on my part at least. I liked Lottie better in the first book. I guess I wanted a bit more rebellion and wildness from her other than just her annoying screaming ¬¬

I definitely liked Laura and Sterling's story a lot more, with plenty of good humour it made me smile plenty of times despite the overused story line. This book...more

One Night of Scandal is the sequel to A Kiss To Remember and tells the story of Lotti, Laura's younger sister. After finding Lotti's character annoying in the fist book, I was hesitant to continue the series. However, once I start a series, I have to finish the books in it! As the first book only deserved three stars, this story def earned the four star rating. I was suprised to find how much I enjoyed the story, especially the mystery and little plot twists. I liked watching Lotti's character g...more

It's never a good sign when I decide I've had enough of a romance just as the sex scene is beginning. It usually means, as it does in this case, that I have absolutely no faith whatsoever in the connection between the two characters, and that the chemistry has utterly failed.

I've rarely seen less chemistry between two characters. I didn't dislike either one of them, nor did I find them inherently incomparable, I just felt like every instance of the two touching, kissing, or even thinking about...more

Ini novel sequelnya A Kiss To Remember…

At first I wasn’t sure if I liked the lively heroine, Carlotta (Lottie) Faileigh. Rather than simply high-spirited, she seemed immature and totally unrelatable to me. But as the book continued on, I found I liked her just fine. She not only had courage, she was kind and what’s not to like about that? (Plus she’s an avid reader and wanna be writer!)

The typical tormented hero, Hayden couldn’t get passed the seemingly very real ghost of his dead wife even though he felt more for Lottie than he shou...more

3.5 stars to be exact.
This is the sequel to "A KISS TO REMEMBER" and is Lotties story. The other reviewers do the plot brilliantly so I wont add to it.
I really enjoyed this book and the wit ,humour and sexual tension in it is TM at her best, just brilliant.
I have a couple of reasons I dont give it 5 stars and the first one is because I dont think that Lottie and Hayden St Clair spend enough time together,in my opinion there was not a lot of interaction between them.
My other problem is that why I...more

This wasn't bad. The author actually took the time to establish a real plot, which is certainly a help in these types of books. ;) I actually liked the heroine alot. But I have to agree with another reviewer who said there wasn't enough interaction between the heroine and the hero. The majority of the story focuses on her finding out what actually happened to his first wife and establishing a relationship with his daughter. "Jane Eyre-lite" indeed.

My only real beef is with the supernatural eleme...more

I usually enjoy Teresa Medeiros' books. The problem I had with this story was the lack of interaction between the Hero and Heroine. Too much of the story focused on Lottie's relationship with Alegra the daughter - who I found weird and creepy. I didn't understand where the basis for the attraction was between the leads. I stuck with it until the end, but by then I didn't care if they got their HEA. I would recommend reading A Kiss to Remember which is Lottie's older sister's story and avoid this...more

Lottie would not know decorum if she fell over it. She has had some difficult times in her life, but also has been well loved by her married sister's new and large family. The being well loved has allowed her to develop a reputation for doing things which are not exactly what a young lady should be doing.

Hayden is a man who has a reputation for murdering his wife, a friend and generally being not a very nice man - "The Murderous Marquess". He has isolated himself far away from London, but has re...more

While I really enjoyed this story I can't decide if I have read it before or not. I think that this plot is one that has been done by several different authors all in varying story lines of course but they tend to be similar enough that while enjoyable it's been done. The heroine though is to-die-for! Of all the things to do on the night of your coming out ball climbing into a tree and then into the house next door to catch a glimpse at a possible murderer is not one that I would think of. Thoug...more

Teresa M has become one of my fave historical/regency romance writers, due in large part to her re-working of well-known and standard fairy tales: Beauty and the Beast in particular. This book is not a re-working, but entertaining just the same. I picked it out of a fifty cent bin, based solely on the author's name. It took a few pages but eventually caught my complete attention. Quite by accident I discoverd it was the SECOND of two books, oh no. But wait, the first book (A Kiss to Remember)sou...more

I really enjoyed the book, but the end could have been better , but everything else was perfect. I laughed a lot and it was like i could actually feel what the characters felt.

I recommend this book.

I started with this second book eventhough I have never read A Kiss to Remember. I read the book well through the night because I was so engrossed with the story.

What a page turner!! Practically read this in one sitting. This had humor, wit, darkness, tension, and love. Medeiros is a gifted story teller.

Yet again, I'm thrown into the brilliant mind and creative world of Teresa Medeiros. :)

She is an author whose become one of my favorite. Even though I fell in love with her writing a while back. Reading one of her books always just seems to remind me why I fell in love with her writing in the first place.

Strong heroine, amazing yet aloof hero, and amazing support characters from other books.

Loved reading it. Was highly entertaining and enjoyable.
Glad I read it!!
Hope you enjoy it too

My first book by this author and I absolutely loved it, I could hardly put it down. You have adventure, intrigue, scandal, madness, a little ghost thrown in and redemption all wrapped up in a beautiful love story!!! Lottie loves adventure and is curious as a cat with nine lives and you have Hayden who has lived in scandal for the past 5 years. When these 2 accidentally get together the sparks and intrigue start from there. With a ghost at the end saving the day this is a novel you will not want...more

Look this book is readable because Teresa Medeiros is a good writer. On the other hand, some serious "Jane Eyre" moments going on here.

Way too many plot points and characters.

The paranormal aspect definitely could have been omitted. The beginning of the story and first couple chapters were great with Hayden and Lottie displaying fantastic friction, sexual tension, and chemistry. Their competing dialogue had me highly anticipating their relationship....more

I was impressed by how this book was written, it was funny and adventurous given the robust heroine who made everything right. Unfortunately, the guy didn't have a redeeming value, one would think he's getting better and he's getting out of his shell but one moment he'll shut everyone out.

The heroine dominated the whole story and it evolved around her, how her character developed, the ups and downs, and all that jazz. I liked this book but the author could've done better with Hayden. He was too...more

Lottie Fairleigh is overindulged and not quite ready to grow up, in spite of the fact that her coming out party is tonight, delayed due to her antics in the past.

The last thing the Murderous Marquess wants is another woman in his life. Hounded by enough scandal, he wants nothing to do with society. So when he catches Lottie peering in his window, he isn't quite sure what to do with her.

This book is a fun look at a strong-willed, childish woman who is forced to grow up literally overnight. I cri...more

Some individual episodes in the book were quite enjoyable (the tea parties, the cats, the chapter headings), but there are so many inconsistencies, typos, anachronisms ("It's my lunch" ???) and just plain mistakes (spring arrives in Cornwall at the end of June???) that I can't give the book a higher rating. More gripes - is the book supposed to be a farce, a psychological character-driven story, or a ghost story? The book veered ("careened" might be a better verb for it) among all three types. T...more
