This book has fun pictures with all sorts of dogs getting into plenty of trouble. But, the book poses a problem because the one to two words on each page is too simple for older readers or a read aloud, but the vocabulary (words turned into adverbs, some made up) is complicated and the book doesn't have enough repetition for the beginning readers it is marketed for. I do like the short focus at the beginning of the book on the big, bigger, biggest and small, smaller, smallest.

This one got bumped up to a 4 star rating because the 3-year old I read it to incorporated it into his playing for the rest of the afternoon and composed a sort of song from it. No, not Mozart quality. It was just a silly "dog ..." or "... dog" tune all afternoon. If his song didn't rhyme the first time around he'd change it to the later sequence.
