Humor and romance with just the right amount of heat, that would be my short description of “All I Want for Christmas is a Vampire” by Kerrelyn Sparks. This book is part of her ‘Love at Stake’ series about vampires in the modern world and I think the series has improved with each book she’s written. They’re certainly not ‘serious reads’, but if you’re looking for a book that will leave you with a grin, this is a good series to try.

Another winner from Sparks! All I want for Christmas is a Vampire is the fifth novel in the Love At Stake series, and honestly I am really enjoying the series. Sparks really knows how to write a paranormal romance story.

I must admit I was really looking forward to this book after reading The Undead Next Door(book 4). Ian was a reoccurring character throughout the series, and he's been one of my favorites, so I couldn't wait to see him "all grown up" and finding love.

Ian is nearly 5 centuries o

Before considering the rating of any book, one must consider the book itself and what it sets out to do. This book, and the series "Love At Stake" as a whole, isn't going for deep philosophical meanings in writing. It is just light, enjoyable fun! The plots are entertaining and the characters both humorous and endearing. Ian, the hero/vamp in this book is especially so. He is sweet and lovable, the kind you just want to hug, but also a perfectly capable, potentially lethal warrior. What's not to ...more

All I Want for Christmas is a Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks may have a very unappealing title along with a cover that looks like the Batman signal in the sky, but this was an enjoyable read. Her vampire men are beyond sexy and the majority of her heroes are highlanders in kilts! This latest tale is about Ian MacPhie. Ian was changed into a vampire when he was barely a teenager, and because of it, he always looks like a young boy. Dating for him was impossible and since he has taken a drug called St ...more

This is the one I read first. After zipping through this one (I couldn't put it down!) I quickly found the rest in the series. You don't have to read them in order. She is very good at recapping major events without spoilers. She doesn't summarize past books, like so many other authors and honestly, having read several of the other books now, I don't feel like I was missing anything by reading this one first. The other main characters were briefly introduced, their stories mentioned and that's i ...more

This book was very good. I was the first book I've read by Kerrelyn Sparks but it won't be the last. The characters of Toni and Ian seemed destined to be together from the start of the book. But it was not predictable by any means. The true natures of Carlos and Howard were totally unexpected to me as I read the book. I liked the fact that it wasn't just a love story. It also had humor adventure and action in the story. I would highly reccomend it.
Samantha (Book Lover's Cozy Cafe)
this is by far my favorite of the series, I just Love Ian, i'm so glad he got his HEA! Toni's friend Sabrina, gosh I wanted to smack her quite a few times, I hope she grows out of her animosity. Carlos I knew, just knew something was different about him.

This series is turning out to be really good, I think I've enjoyed all but the second book of this series. I cannot wait to read more of it. It's becoming highly addictive to me.

Effing hysterical! I laughed throughout the entire book. Kerrelyn Sparks is my hero! Not only does she create wicked shmexi characters, she makes them funny as all get out. Love, love LOVE Ian. There's nothing sexier than a man with an accent. And a Scottish accent? SWOON! Off to buy the rest of the series. Woot!

This was the first book I read from K. Sparks and I loved it. Love the style of writing. The Scottish words/language made the story more lifelike. Good romance. Good humor. It had a HEA ending. I'd love to read others in the series.

Like what Lynsay Sands said on the cover of the book, "Can't wait for the next book in the series!"
Shannon (Giraffe Days)
Hugely enjoyable, this one was. Really, I'm so glad I gave this series another try after starting with book 3 ( Be Still My Vampire Heart ) and disliking it so much, because all the other books I've read (eight so far) have been so much fun and not at all annoying. Toni is a solid heroine, hired as a day guard by the "good Vamps" to watch over them while they sleep because her fighting skills impressed Connor so much when he rescued her from a group of Malcontents.

There are several storylines go

I have to preface this review with the simple fact I’ve never been a fan of funny vampire romance novels. I’m a “the darker the better” vampire fan. However, it is with great pleasure I can honestly say I truly enjoyed All I Want for Christmas Is a Vampire. What a delight!

Toni Davis’s Christmas is not looking like it will be an enjoyable one. Her best friend has been institutionalized after claiming she was attacked by vampires. Toni knows her friend isn’t cra

This was another great story in the Kerrelyn Sparks Love at Stake Series.

Ian MacPhie has been a vampire for nearly 500 years but he was turned when he was only 15 and he is always treated as a teenager and is tired of it. In the last book “The Undead Next Door” he took a drug to stay awake during the day and he has aged 12 years and now he wants to find his Mrs Right. He goes to his friend Vanda at her vampire nightclub “Horny Devil’s” and she does a profile for him and puts it on an internet da

*sigh* What can I say Ian...Fantastic tale of a man trying to find himself and true love. The novel although very relationship based has some great action scenes. Also it was nice to see a new venue with Vonda's Club, the girls who wanted Ian were absolutely hilarious. Toni's character has a fantastic sense of humour. Once again Kerrelyn Sparks has written a fantastic novel..action, romance, vampires and a tough heroine.

Strong 4 diamonds...a great read.

I laughed so hard when I opened this book on Christmas Eve. I said "Oh my gosh, you got me a smut novel" and my sister-in-law said "no I didn't" but upon closer inspection, yes, in fact she did buy me a smut novel.
This is the first I have read in many years and lets just say it reminded me of why I really don't read them. First of all it's about this Scotish vampire who is seeking true love, then you throw in a girl who is trying to prove that vampires exists in order to bust her best friend ou

Narration: B-

All I Want for Christmas is a Vampire is a fun and sexy paranormal listen.

The narrator, Coleen Marlo did a pretty good job with the narration but I found her accents for the male character slip from time to time. A Scottish brogue would change to something that sounded Russian then back to Scottish. And I didn't care for her voice for Phineas I thought it was cheesy and a little racist or stereotyping of a black man, which changed my narration rating from a B to a B-. I thi

This book was deffinately the best book of the series so far. Ian has always been my favourite charcter and his heroine Toni was the best of the girls by a mile. What I loved the most about this couple was their combined banter. Right from the first time they meet they are sarcastic, funny and flirtatious.
When the book starts we learn that Ian has taken the 'Stay Awake Drug' for twelve years adding another twelve years to his looks. He has gone from looking like a fifteen year old boy to a tw

I can not wait to read this one! And how funny that the main female character in this story is named Toni Davis...the same name of my childhood's friend's mother.

This one is my favorite of the series. I love wee little (now big) Ian. And Toni is such a great match for him, matching him hit for hit phsyically and mentally. The way things work out in these books is so enteratining. While I figured out Ian would help Toni get Bri out of the mental hospital I did not see him breaking out Teddy too a

I just love Ian [who can not??:], and the fact that he and Toni know exactly about each other - vampire vs. human daytime guard - is refreshing in light of the other books in the series. Toni's great 'secret' is personal but a little hard to believe, since her relationship with her best friend isn't explored very deeply. Her persistence and the lengths she goes to [becoming a guard for the Vamps, being so adept at personal defense, etc:] seems over-the-top. And poor Ian ... his situation, while ...more

I've always liked Ian MacPhie's character and as this book started, I couldn't help but feel sorry for him. (view spoiler) After 500 years trapped in a teenagers body, it must be tough. His awkwardness came across loud and clear. Thankfully, as the story progressed, he fell back to the self-assured character I remember. I thought Toni was a good match for him, too.

I'd describe this installment as "extra" on the cheezy. Dr. Fang is

Another cute vampire novel by Sparks. These are light hearted and fun. There is not a lot of angst. I liked the hero although I might have liked to have a prologue where he was still 15 years old physically instead of 28. It would make the whole I'm a 500 year old vampire in a teenage body more real. The heroine is a nice strong character who has a definite plan for her life. The ongoing story of the good vampires versus the malcontents wove through the story. I was anxious about what was going ...more

Ian McPhie wants to be lovedand cherished for who and what he is. He wants an honest and steadfast lady. But he hasn't had success so his friend Vanda sets up a profile on a vampire dating site and suddenly hes flooded with prospects. Too bad all he can think about is his daytime bodyguard Toni, who is missing an important criteria --she isnt a vampire and she loathes vampires.
Too bad because they both want love so desperately!

What a great read. I read book 1 a couple of years ago and

I LOVED this book from start to finish! Great characters and funny situations and dialog. A very refreshing change from the "usual" vampire books. I had quit reading that type book because I got tired of the same old routine or no plot/just sex kind of books. The world this author created was different, interesting, believable and funny as hell! I can't wait to get the rest of the series!! even though I stumbled into the series at book 5, I wasn't lost and felt like these characters were old fri ...more

Oh and little Tino!! I wonder why his name is Constantine... I don't have book 3&4 :(

This series juust gets better and better. Now I have to read the two I haven't read yet and then hang about waiting till another comes on the scene.

the main characters in this book are the wonderful Ian who was turned at 15 and has now done something about getting to be older, even though he's a vampire.
Toni comes into his life as a day guard at the townhouse and suddenly, looking for a vampire for his mate no longer seems as interesting and this brave and intelligent human looks very interestin

What can I say? I dig this series even if some of the stuff in the books is implausible and sometimes ridiculous. I don’t care. I like the stories so much that I want to believe it all so I just roll with it.
Ian MacPhie has just physically aged twelve years in twelve days thanks to a drug that was originally invented to keep vampires awake during the day but has the strange side effect of aging the recipient one year for every day the drug is taken. He was transformed almost 500 years ago at the

Oh baby....There's something about a kilt and Scottish accent that gets us ladies hot and bothered. And there is something about an independent, strong woman that makes me think 'you go girl' and feel a little more proud of my femininity. Before I go any further, I'll just say that it is not usually my style to give away many plot details in my reviews so if that's what you are looking for, sorry for letting you down. If you are the more open minded sort, I hope I don't let you down.

Ian McPhie wants to find love. In the previous book, he took the drug to make him stay awake and now he does not look 15 anymore. More like 27. He has some issues with people who have known him for years no longer recognizing him. One problem Ian has always had is that people treat him like a kid. You would think vampires who deal with him all the time would get over that. Vanda fills out an online profile for Ian and every girl and vamp in NY is after him. Corky Courrant even interviews him. I just loved Ian and Toni’s story! I thought it was one of those Christmas-themed short stories and was pleasantly surprised to see that isn’t the case.
Ian finally grew up to look like a man instead of a boy and he’s looking for true love…in a lady Vamp. This hope was thought of in a logical sense, Ian good man that he is, doesn’t want to lie about his true self. He’s really adorable and since I’m a fan of Scottish Highlanders it was easy to love his character. He went to Horny Devils to find hi

Kerrelyn Sparks is the New York Times bestselling author of a series that mimics its sexy heroes by refusing to die.
