Every sorority has its secrets...

And college freshman Ginger Carmichael couldn't care less. She has more important things on her mind, like maintaining her perfect GPA. No matter how much she can't stand the idea of the cliques and the matching colors, there's something about the girls of Alpha Beta Omega—their beauty, confidence, and unapologetic sexuality—that draws Ging

This was a (mostly) light, fanciful, often silly, rather cute read.

Written well enough to fall into the 4.5 to 5 star category for me, I found myself enjoying this book very much. The characters were interesting and likable (except the ones that we were not meant to like, obviously), the dialog in keeping with the characters, ages, and situations. The premise was fun, the execution of it pretty near perfect (for me) even though it was somewhat predictably predictable.

Though the book began with
This was a fun book to read. There wasn't a big plot of any sort, but it is more like a sitcom or soap, where the interest is in the characters and their day to day lives and interactions. (although, rather rated xxx)

The writing style flows easily and requires little work on the reader's part. And the story wont require to look much up or think too hard. It's a great book for when you just want to kick back and enjoy something lighthearted and not too deep.

Towards the beginning, there were a few

So, Better Off Red follows college freshman Ginger as she rushes a sorority full of beautiful women, discovers they are a vampire cult, and falls in love with their leader.

Insta-love PWP just about sums it up. Other reviews state that the story picks up towards the end, but if I didn't catch it at 65%, then no.

I'm giving it one star for the setting and characters. College is a great time, especially surrounded by these hot sorority sisters who fuck all day
Rebekah is a new to me author and I was pleasantly surprised by her writing style.

I wasn't sure I was going to like the entire vampire, sister sorority thing, but the author pulled it off wonderfully.

I enjoy the characters, the plot was interesting. The sex scenes were smoking hot, and beautifully written. Sensual.

I would definitely recommend this story to others, and look forward to reading more books by this author.

Vampire are Not My Thing. Lesbians - whatever floats your boat, but they don't "do it" for me. Sorority sisters? Like, NO, d'uh!

So I expected this book to be a sludge, hoping to find some slight thing I could praise, because I know the author personally and I wanted to find something, anything, nice to say about her debut novel.

Instead, it was cover to cover pleasure. I wouldn't have read this book if I didn't know the author, but I can honestly say that I loved this book despite my normal indif

I was expecting this one to be a lot of things, but mindblowingly boring was not one of them.

Poor writing, lazy romance, paper thin characters, repetitive and boring sex scenes, no plot, plain bad world building.

I was prepared to love every cliche, disregard every mistake, move past every rapey and problematic aspect, if only it had some good porn to get off to.

How can you go wrong with vampire sorority girl on girl smut? Well, apparently like so.

I really thought it was impossible to mess up

Fantabulous, here comes another over-the-top exultation for Rebekah Weatherspoon. This is the third book of hers I’ve read. The two previous works were completely different, but they all share thoroughly amazing and mind-boggling imaginative storylines…seamless pacing, momentum, and continuity…beautifully heartening endings. What puts this one a stratosphere above the other two is a completely credible but out-of-this world context where vampires are key players. Most of the action occurs at Mar ...more

I rolled my eyes a LOT in the first 20 pages or so of Better Off Red, just because hey, look, another vampire book. But I have to say, I was really surprised to enjoy the book a whole hell of a lot (no pun intended, of course). In fact, once I was done with it (and its sister, Blacker Than Blue) I went back and read them both all over again.

Better Off Red may have been one of the campiest, sexiest books I've tackled in a while, actually. Without spoiling, the book focuses on a sorority with a s

I really loved this story and the main characters are great. My favorite quote is "Honey, I'm an ex-pothead who married a mobster's son then adopted a black kid. You think I'm going to judge my only daughter for being gay?" I was going to go right to the next book in the series, but $9.99 for an eBook made me stop in my tracks. I just can't justify that expense right now. :(

I just finished reading this story again and I can honestly say that I enjoyed it even more the second time.

Better Off Red, the first volume in the new Vampire Sorority Sisters series, starts simply, almost predictably, with a pair of roommates pledging the hottest sororities.

Except, of course, Ginger really has no interest in pledging, and is only doing so to appease her roommate . . . and keep her ignorant of Ginger’s sexuality. Except, of course, the sorority that so draws their attention seems to have a few secrets . . . such as how an empty table has managed to have so many people sign the pledge
God damn it, I wanted to love this book and was fully prepared to do so. I mean, it has vampires and it's written by Rebekah Weatherspoon! Come on! It should have been great!

Except it wasn't.

Now, I realize that this is Rebekah's first book published by Bold Strokes, and is likely her first book published at all. So I wasn't expecting it to be as amazing as some of her more recent works, like "Treasure" and "At Her Feet" (both of which I highly recommend, by the way). But I just could NOT get int

DNF. I never dnf, and I tried really really hard to finish, or to find atleast some aspect I could still like about this book, because it honestly started out well enough, but I just couldn't do it.

After settling into this world, there is no real plot until suddenly everything starts to happen at once, but I was past caring at that point. The protagonist is pathetic and even though she does not develop as a character at all, we are supposed to believe the plot developments for her.

Simply put I loved this book.
This comes from someone who never read a vampire book or anything in this genre.
Well written, engaging and sexy. I can't wait to read the next one in the series.

Ginger Carmichael came to college to learn, not join a sorority and meet cute guys like her somewhat daffy roommate Amy would like. Out of a sense of loyalty - and to make sure no one harms her friend and roommate - Ginger agrees to go through the process with Amy, at least until Amy joins her sorority. Then Ginger is out, and the studying can once again be front and centre.

Except the girls of Alpha Beta Omega are enthralling. Ginger, who has begun to realize she's a lot more into girls than boy

Knowing that this is Weatherspoon's debut, I'm excited to read the rest of her books and see how she's grown as an author. You can definitely see the seeds for some great erotic storytelling in Better Off Red, even while there is a lot to improve upon as well.

My main issues were with pacing and character development. It was a really nice surprise when the main character turned out to be a very down to earth girl who, when confronted with a sorority full of vampires asks all the practical questio

This is a story of discovering love and yet, with each one of Weatherspoon's rich characters, love is a given from the very start. Ginger is a smart, witty, self-aware young woman on an exquisite journey, and Camila a wise soul whose been around long enough to know just how precious her new girlfriend really is. Ginger grapples with insecurities and her attachment to her demon-angel love, while remaining true to herself. For that reason alone I found her to be a rare and powerful kind of heroine ...more

Vampire lesbian erotica? This is not exactly in my usual reading repertoire, but (full disclosure, Rebekah and I are Twitter and Facebook friends) I had to see how she writes. The answer: Very well.

College freshman Ginger Carmichael is appealing from the get-go: sassy and strong but still with enough insecurities that make her a likable character. When her roommate Amy wants them to go through sorority rush, Ginger decides to do it just to make sure Amy doesn't get walked all over in the proces

I was first introduced to Amy. A blonde who I found to be the college roommate to our lead girl. And even though I knew loads about Amy, I didn't know anything about the lead. Her name wasn't given until a good piece in the first chapter and I had no idea what she looked like until well into the sorority of things. That put me off for quite a while. Amy is one of those overzealous, super perky, college freshman that want to get into everyt

Love it! Though the lust are too strong for my taste, but it dropped a tad bit later on in the story and concentrated more on emotional conflicts. I really like the conclusion about dominance, submissive relationship at the end, in which they "should take turn". (bravo to the main protagonist for reaching that conclusion).

There is no big plot in this story, its main central focus on two major characters and how they explored their feelings to each other. No force, no awkwardness, it just come an

From start to finish, Rebekah Weatherspoon writes her main characters Ginger and Camila beautifully. To me, this book was character driven so the entire plot revolved around their feelings and interactions, which I loved! Another great thing about Better Off Red are the steamy sex scenes. There are plenty of them and a lot to enjoy about each one.

All the characters are well-developed and for the few days I read through this book, I couldn't put it down. There were a few parts that had me concer

Ms. Weatherspoon writes as if she has been doing this her whole life! The characters in Better off Red, the first book in the Vampire Sorority Sisters series (of which I hope there are many more!), come to life quickly and easily. They are each well-developed and distinct so you aren't able to mix up the characters. I was never in a sorority myself, but if they're anything like this one - sign me up! The vampire mythos that is introduced to us in this novel is definitely a new and refreshing app ...more

you know, the cover being two nude women should have tipped me off that this was more of a sexy erotic story with minimal plot, rather than the suspenseful vampire thriller I was expecting. maybe that was my fault, assuming a story involving vampires, sororities, and lesbians wouldn't be saturated with sex. plus naked ladies on the cover what was i thinking

This book was way better than it ever had to be. I stumbled upon this title and thought it would be a fluff story (...come on, vampire - sorority - sisters) that would be on par with a Harlequin. But boy was I wrong. From the first chapter I was hooked and I could tell I was in for something much more.

Ms. Weatherspoon created a vivid vampiric world full of detail. There are a ton of characters but they're all well thought out, rich and each their own. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of erotic

Better Off Red was such a lovely surprise. I'm not a huge fan of vampire erotica but this book caught me from the very get-go. Ginger, the protagonist, is funny, well-grounded, very quick witted, and did I mention really really hot? I thought the book was really well-paced, the writing engaging. The mythology Rebekah created was on point. Nothing felt cliched in the way paranormal romance novels usually are. The thing about Better Off Red is, you can't help but fall in love with the ABO girls. A ...more

I arrived at the 5% mark of the book and closed the book, thinking in the lines of :
— damn, the cheese of college stuff plus the cheese of vampire stuff? I feel like I drank a whole chocolate fountain. I can't, no more, please.
— an orgy of 18 year-olds sounds terrifying. I should go back to my thirty something jaded lesbians.
— why does this book reads like hetero porn?
— was there a "mind control rape erotica" tag on the book description? I can't remember.

Lesbian vampire sorority!!! What's not to love? That alone was what made me pick up this delightful novel. Its well written with a whole boat load of extremely hot sex. I found myself grinning a lot as I was reading this, there's something about the style and the story that had a touch of humour to it. I don't know if that might have been just the way I read it.
My first impression was oh just a lot of vampire girl on girl soft porn when I started, but there was actually a pretty good plot and I
