Once Bitten . . .

This story centres on Lucian, the twin brother of Jean-Claude, Marguerite's deceased husband (making Lucian the uncle of Lucern etc.). He's one of the "original" immortals, and has lived for over two thousand years. He's on the Council and hunts down rogue vampires. It's while he's on the hunt for another ancient vampire, Morgan, who has started his own "nest", that he encounters Leigh. Morgan has just turned her but she hasn't yet gone through the painful process when Lucian grudgingly rescues...more
Another consistent entry in the series, an enjoyable vampire romance with lots of humor and good characters. All of her books in this series seem the same, following a proven formula.
#6 in Lynsay Sands Argeneau series. Walking home from work late in the early morning - typical for her as the owner of a bar - Leigh is kidnapped by a vampire. He forces her to drink his blood and her fate is sealed, she will go through the change and become vampire. Lucien Argeneau is a hunter of rogue (evil) Immortals. He and his fellow hunters are at the "nest" waiting to attack when the van carrying Leigh and 2 rogues arrives. When left alone for a few minutes Leigh escapes the basement pris...more
Leigh is walking home after closing down her bar when she is approached by a friend who she thought was missing. Unfortunately, he is not alone and brings his vampire sire with him. Donny's big plan is for Leigh to be turned by his sire so that the two of them can be together forever. Thankfully for Leigh, Lucian, one of the oldest vampires has been hunting down Morgan on behalf of the vampire council. He and his crew manage to save Leigh but Morgan escapes.

A friend gave me this book for my birthday, because she kept telling me how much she loved the series, and thought i would like it too. I was a bit skeptical, since it seemed like one of those cheesy bubblegum books, and don't get me wrong, i love reading bubblegum cheesy romance books, but there are just some kinds of cheesy i cant stand.
I hadn't read any of the previous Argeneau books, but my friend told me i could read it as a stand alone book, and i have to say i actually liked it. A lot. I'...more

While this book was not my favorite book of the series I found that if you can manage to make it past about 10 or 15% of the book it does quickly redeem itself. I did love seeing the uber strict and straight as an arrow, Immortal Enforcer Lucian, get his comeuppance when he meets his second life mate and he has to help her while she makes the change.
It was a good story but as I said the first part was a bit boring in that it was all about Leighs change and how it affected Lucian.

this book was amazing!!!. as you all know i love this series and think that every book is as good as the last. therefore i gave this a 5/5 stars. i was able to speed read through this book because i loved it so much. i adore the whole argeneau family so all the characters i loved especially Lucian. again this has some very mature content which is somewhat on the soft porn side. i would of said that this book be for and age group of 16+ but someone made a very good point on youtube that it should...more
If you've read through the first 5 books of this Series then you know that Lucian is.. well.. a grump to say the least. He is one of the oldest immortals and he is hanging on by a thread from turning Rogue like so many before him.
Lucian is out hunting, hunting rogue vampires that is, when Leigh is thrown into his lap. Leigh is a bar owner who just happens to be in the wrong place, at the wrong time and has hired the wrong type of employees.

Vampires are always considered creatures of the night that aren't able to go out into the sunlight or go anywhere near crosses. However, in the romance novels by Lynsay Sands, they aren't called vampires; they are immortals. Lucian is the most rude one of the bunch that doesn't appear to ever be able to be polite, let alone have someone to share the rest of his life with. That is, until Leigh shows up. They are the perfect couple and are only encouraged by the rest of the Argeneau family. Lucian...more

I've read the entire Argeneau series but this is the first one I read and my favorite. I'm not real fond of vampire stories usually but the vampires here are not the undead kind so okay.
Another reason I went ahead and read it the first time is that it starts out in the Kansas City area where I live. Even though the KC geography is pretty wonky and full of mistakes it still gives me an affection for the book. For example if you just say Kansas City then you mean Kansas City, Missouri not Kansas...more

I picked this book to read for three reasons -- 1) I was sitting with my eight-year-old in the doctor's office for FOUR HOURS this afternoon, bored out of my mind while she played iTouch games (lots of sick kids being fit in on a Monday); 2) I've enjoyed other Lynsay Sands' books; and 3) the title made me giggle.
I'll confess to having skimmed the narrative and focused on dialogue and/or action. I'll also confess to having a massive pet peeve about repeat words . . . and, as much as I enjoy Sands...more

Ohhh i want to read again !!!!!
I loved how Lucian is just his typical grumpy self and i just absolutely loved Leigh's character.
I knew Leigh was going to be strong right from the beginning, i thought she was able to handle everything that came her way quite well. I thought how she was introduced into this story was put together well. I also enjoyed how she seemed just a tad grumpy in parts of the book that just made me laugh out loud.

My thoughts:
Another good and light Argeneau vampire novel. I truly like that about this series. And once again, this one can easily be read as a standalone novel. I have only read 3 out of 6, but it works. There is a new couple in each, and the whole vampire thing is explained to the newbies. Trust me on this.
In this one a woman, Leigh is out walking and gets attacked. Luckily for her Lucian comes to the rescue as he is hunting down her attacker. Since she is bitten he explains things to her *co...more

Title: Bite Me If You Can
Series: Argeneau #6
Author: Lynsay Sands
Rating: 4.5/5
Hilarious and gripping! Lynsay Sands has done it again (I seem to be saying that alot). It was extremely hard to stop reading about Lucian and Leigh. Lucian is one of the original 'vampires' from Atlantis, making him over 2000 years old and it shows! Definately not in his looks but in his complete ignorance of the mortal ways of living. I'd give Bite Me if You Can 3.5 stars if I could, because I really did like it more than some of the other books in this series. Still, I was kind of hoping for more out of this one. I always thought it would be interesting to see the crusty old Lucian fall in love...because you just knew he was really going to screw it up in some hilarious way. Don't worry, he doesn't disappoint. My favorite part had to be when he bought books on how to 'woo' a woman.

Irealy enjoyed this book!!!! it was funny and Lucian became my favorite male character..... he is so protective of his family and you'll find out why... Since he is an older vamp he is able to block his thoughts but when he meets his lifemate he lets loose and the family attacks his thougths TOO FUNNY... I WOULD READY THIS AGAIN
I really like reading about the misunderstood guys or characters.
It was funny and sad at the same time. The books!! LOL!
Luckily, Lucian didn't need them and I felt bad for him for thinking he needed to buy them.
Poor guy, but he got his HEA in the end and that's all that mattered!
Now, on to the next one!!

This is the story of Leigh Gerard and Lucian Argeneau. It follows the same formula Lynsay Sands has been using in her Argeneau series. It's a clever formula that I know yet still buy more of her books :-)
There were a couple of books where the formula was forced, here it wasn't. Love took its time to develop between Lucian and Leigh and when it did, Lucian was so cute. I love a cute hardass.

This was actually the first novel in this series that I read. I could not put it down. I pushed through it and read it in one day. After reading it, I googled the author and went back and read every book in the series and follow it religiously.

At times this book really had my chuckling, so funny in places and I loved Leigh's character. Seeing Lucien through her eyes was just hilarious.
Unfortunately this book isn't a difficult read but if I ever came across the other books in the series (as this is the 6th book, i didn't realise) I would read them. They are pleasant enough, just not something I would rave about. The ending was predictable and didn't have me on the edge of my seat. It wasn't a clean romance either. I am sure some peopl...more

At First Sight: Leigh Gerard was walking home after closing her restaurant when she was attacked by two men who turned out to be rogue vampires.
Turned against her will, she barely escaped dying at the hands of a trio of enforcers -the immortal's police - and was taken in by them to help her through her change.
Lucian Argeneau was the one most reluctant to help out the newly turned Leigh; since he has 'lived' for a few thousand years and he's quite weary of the world, much as his body seems to rea...more

I think that this is actually my favorite now. I still liked Vincent's story, but this one had me laughing so much. Lucian is over 2000 years old and is pretty stuck in his ways. He has isolated himself from his family, and tends to show a rougher side to himself whenever he is around them. People don't ever get to know the real him...until Leigh. Lucian had to actually analyze the type of person he was, how he dealt with others and how to take down the wall he uses to protect himself with. Leig...more
I deeply enjoy Lynsay Sands' ability to take us into the heat of the moment, and explore that first flush of passion and desire, that palpable need to touch and be touched by your lover for the first time. She mixes a wealth of character development into each story, though I must say that each story (at least the early ones) tends to follow a formula of vamp meets mate, mate gets turned, vamp is there while mate turns, ushers them through the change and they grow closer as this happens, sex occu...more
Lucian, and original immortal, is on the ruling council and an enforcer for those who break immortal law - no killing humans, nothing to expose them, etc. When he arrives to take out a rogue named Morgan, he meets Leigh, a mortal woman in the early stages of turning because of Morgan. He doesn't realize right away she is his life mate, but he can't bring himself to abandon her. Love is in the air as Lucian tries to help Leigh adjust to her new life and keep her safe from Morgan. The book wasn't too bad. I liked the characters enough to keep reading. The plot was a bit worn and it was obvious where it was going, but there were some red herrings thrown in to keep it kind of exciting. Its major drawback was the typical romance novel cheese. It inspired me to make a list of words that should be banned from romance novels, including "molten," "chiseled," and "bucked."
I would probably read more of her books in the series--provided they were cheap--but they're the sort of boo...more

Pros: Character Development
Cons: The series prior to this book was getting boring
I really liked this book better than all the other Argeneau novels. Lucians character in all the other books was so cold and scary that it must’ve been fun for Sands to take him into a romance. I think the books are getting better and better and I feel like this one may have saved the series. I was beginning to feel like the other books were just carbon copies of each other with that ‘typical romance novel’ sort of...more

I was really looking forward to reading Lucian's story, and it didn't disappoint. From Eitenne and Rachel's story I thought Lucian was a cold-hearted jerk, so when I found out he had his own story, I had to read it. It turns out Lucian is one of the cutest characters. It was cool when he picked out clothes for Leigh, cute when he got all embarrassed in the lingerie store, and majorly cute when Rachel read off the titles of the books he got from the bookstore on how to attract women in front of a...more
Another good one...I really enjoyed listening to Lucian and Leigh's story. I appreciate Leigh's personality and how she dealt with matters. In the last several books I've read, not by Sands, the leading lady annoyed me so this was a refresher.
The storyline was basic but there was the typical humor I've come to enjoy with this series. Although I didn't have any laugh-out-loud moments, I did smile a lot while listening. Outside of the good writing and storylines, I can always count on the humor....more

The Argeneau Vampire series is paranormal romance with a unique spin on where vampires come from (hint: it has to do with the lost city of Atlantis).
This particular book features Lucien Argeneau, the 3+ millennia old uncle to the protagonists of the first five books. While chasing down a rogue vampire in Kansas, Lucien meets Leigh, the owner of a local restaurant/bar who has been kidnapped and is in the painful throes of being turned into a vampire herself.

“What is it?”
Leigh glanced up with uncertainty, then back to his groin with a sort of horrified fascination. “Well, um… is there something about immortals you haven’t told me?”
“What? What do you mean?” he asked with bewilderment.
Leigh shook her head, then leaned forward and said “Hello?” to his groin, only to stiffen again and jerk back as if it had hissed at her.
“Are you talking to my penis?” Lucian asked with disbelief.
“It talked to me first,” she said defensively, and frowned. “You didn’t mention this little skill.”
Lucian decided she must be joking and laughed. “So, what did it say?”
“It said, ‘Lucian? Lucian, are you there?’” He blinked.
“Why would it say that?”
“I don’t know. It’s your penis.”
That’s when he recalled the cell phone in his pocket. A laugh bursting from his lips, Lucian reached in his pocket to retrieve the phone.”
