I am a massive Doctor Who fan. Can't begin to describe how much I love that tv show, particularly the new incarnation. With that in mind, I'm also quite aware that some Doctor books are better than others. This one is, frankly, a fun, breathless pastiche of Stevenson's Treasure Island, with steam-driven spaceships and robots and one surprisingly endearing, horrible-hairly monster who decided to call himself "Kevin." The BBC Doctor Who books are mostly geared toward their child-demograp...more

Sometimes, in Doctor Who's off season, I find myself wanting a little dose of the Doctor, and the Doctor who books are perfect for renewing your interest. The Resurrection Casket was my first experience with the books, and I enjoyed it immensely. I really got a sense of the Doctor's character, I could practically hear him saying his lines! The plot started a bit slow, but at the end it really picked up, and it was also chock full of twists and turns. And it was all in good robot space pirate fun...more

This is my third Ten Doctor book and the last of the first Ten series that came out last spring. I enjoyed this one. It's full of twists and turns, it has an interesting space pirate subplot and some droids that are frakking mad. We get manic Doctor in this one. The author "got" the tone of Tennant's manic, borderline psychotic delivery. Overall, I liked this one. Yes, it's not the strongest plot but it's had enough punch to keep my interest.

I didn't think this story was very strong- although I did like the steam powered robots and spaceships- although it was nice to have another story with Rose and the Doctor (although it seemed Rose wasn't around very much). Overall, not great, but it was still nice to listen to a Who story read by Tennant.

If you've not listened to The Stone Rose, I'd recommend that over this audiobook.

This book grew on me. The start is pretty clumsy, but it serves to get the characters into a steam punk universe. And, at that, it is quite good. Not only are the rules of steam punk physics strictly adhered to, but critical plot points rely on them. And the end has a classic Doctor Who ethics point.

Space pirates! David Tennant's reading is once again awesome, and this book has a lot more silly than the previous two, which is a nice change. Bonus for a twist on one of my favorite plot formulas - the supposed bad guy turns out to be you!

I listened to the audiobook read by David Tennant. The story is fairly good, though I understood what the "Resurrection Casket" did about halfway through the story. The character of Kevin is hilarious in that British sort of way.

I love Doctor Who so I decided to try out the book. Well it was great! Let me just tell you that you have to have a sharp mind for scifi and sort of understand the show but this book is just like an episode.

Again, another good Ten/Rose novel. Once I started this one I couldn't put it down.
