In 1811, New Madrid, Missouri was shattered by a series of massive earthquakes. For weeks, the shocked citizens coped with a world gone mad. They all changed, fell apart, and endured. Interesting and well written story about day to day life in New Madrid at the time of the earthquakes, told mostly by the members of a family new come to the area. The author obviously did a lot of research, but the information is skillfully woven into the story so it doesn't read like a history book. I highly recommend this book.

Historically accurate, but fictional account of the New Madrid Quakes of 1811-12. Enjoyable, quick read. Wish there was more history on the event and area, but it wasn't very populated in the early 1800's. Characters were enjoyable.
