Dull and predictable. I was waiting for something to happen, but what really put me off was this ridiculous moment:

Taking the square packet from him, she brushed her arm against his hot erection. Deliberately, she brushed him again as she got to her knew. 'We really don't need this.'
Cameron's eyes dilated and his nostrils flared. 'You're protected?'
Jessie tossed the condom aside. 'Absolutely.'

WHAT THE %&*$?? She has not had sex with anyone other than her husband (who is dead). Cameron has re

Not worth your time unless you like watching or reading in this case train wrecks.

Basic storyline of High school tomboy gets asked to prom by hot, popular jock. She think she is his last ditch effort since breaking up with his GF so close to prom. Several kisses at the end of the night with little actual storyline and he is gone. 17 years later guy comes back for his mom's birthday & drops by tomboy's gas station to fix his jag. Story goes from there in a very disjointed fashion while the ma

AMN, why did you make this heroine so bipolar? Come on! Surely you had to realize how annoying this heroine's behavior was.

- The heroine can NEVER break a promise, but that ONLY pertains to her DEAD... NEVER GOING TO SEE AGAIN... husband, but not ALIVE... GOOD TO YOU... neighbors that are there for you.

- She at 1st can't sleep with the hero because he's never going to offer her something serious since he'll be returning to his life in another state. Then he offers her something serious, like sh

I was really disappointed in this one, because it had so much potential. Boy goes off to the big city, though he longs for the girl next store in his small hometown. The execution of this, however, missed the mark.

Misunderstandings and doubt are cornerstones of romances, but can't be the only source of conflict in a story. This book seemed to be one long miscommunication, and if Jess and Cameron had just sat down and had an adult conversation, the story would have been 1/3 the length.

I liked Cam

The heroine was the problem in this story. First she made this ridiculous promise (about the land) to her dead husband that she did not even love two years ago when he dead. However, she has no problem breaking a promise to her friend and Cameron's mother. Then she says ridiculous things to Cameron that she has to take it slow because of the memory of her dead husband AND remember this is not this is the husband that she did not even love...ever. Cameron was

Had higher hopes due to most of the reviews. Glad it was free. Story got old before I was even halfway through. Kept flipping pages in hopes of more... No luck. Will try book 2, but only when I can find it for free. Heroine & her CONSTANT promises she JUST HAS TO KEEP (to a dead husband--that she didn't even love) get SICKENING. The GOOD DOCTOR :) on the other hand, was the ONLY reason I finished this book instead of deleting it off my kindle by halfway through. As for this being the steamie ...more

This was a 3.5 star read for me.
This story was promising at first - the storyline was nice and the characters were likable - but then it didn't seem to want to end and got a bit boring and predictable. I feel like things were going on too long and it was making me restless at times.
I liked Cameron - he was really sweet and fun and seemed like a overall good person. He was the boy who moved from the small town to the big city to pursue his dream of becoming a doctor. Jessie was nice and smart and

This was a pretty good book. Cameron McCade left Salt Fork, Texas to pursue his dreams. Jessie Kincaid was fifteen and innocent when Cameron asked her to the prom. She lost her heart that night but his plans didn't change. Now he is back and she is a widow and fire still burns. This was a pretty good book and I love reading about second chance romance. Jessie had big plans for her life, but life had other plans for her. She has lost her mom, dad, and her husband TR and now Cam is back in town an ...more

A book with an unusual title, this was my first book by Anne Marie Novark. I got it free on Amazon and bought it because of the intriguing blurb.

Jessie and Cameron went out just once but Jessie had always had a crush on Cameron which turned into love that day. While Cameron left town for higher studies, Jessie is left behind with an ailing father and a crumbling business. The story picks up after seventeen years with the return of Cameron who is now a famo

This was a good story. I liked Cameron and Jesse and overall I liked their story. This is the first book I've read by this author and based off this I'd be willing to try more of her work in the future.

Jessie is a good woman that tends to think of others before herself. Unfortunately this means that she tends to make herself miserable about things that aren't her fault. She lost her mother before she was old enough to remember her and her dad got cancer her senior year of high school

I've always been a sucker for cowboys...don't know what it is about them, but there ya go. So when I saw this one, I jumped at getting it. I did have a few issues with Jessie at some points. However, I can certainly understand where she was coming from. She had made a promise to her husband and does't want to dishonor that. Anyone who can't understand that has obviously never made a promise before. Does that mean I agree with her? No, not at all, but I can see where she's coming from. As for wha ...more

Cowboy stories are always fun - I have a hard time writing them because I'm too cynical (and I prefer the fictional version over many of the cowboys I've met in real life). But I love to read 'em, being a Montana girl, and this one certainly didn't disappoint. It takes place in a small town, where life happens much like you'd expect it to, aside from the sports car that the town's prodigal son drives into town one night. What eventually happens to the car...well, that just cracked me up, but suf ...more

This is an okay read. The plot is predictable until the end and gets a little bit frustrating. The characters are underdeveloped. I was put off by the heroine. Jesse created so many unnecessary drama through the story that in the end I just think she’s a silly woman.
There were two scenes that made me lost it. The first was the one when she states she doesn’t need a condom, because she couldn’t get pregnant. Has if the only reason for using condom was because of that. Are there no STDs in Texas?

The Doctor Wears a Stetson is the first book in the Diamond Back Ranch Original series. This book is about Jessie and Cameron. When Jessie Kincaid was freshman in high school Cameron McCade asked Jessie to go to the prom with him, only days before the prom. She agreed, thinking she was a last choice since it was so close to prom, and had a wonderful night. But when they went to lover’s point, even though Cameron tried to be somewhat gentlemanly, they kissed and sparks flew. That is all that the ...more

I'll start by saying giving bad reviews is not something I enjoy doing. Giving one-star ratings is something I like giving even less. With that being said, I'll keep my complaints to a minimum.

I was halfway through this book when I stopped to check out other Goodreads reviews. I saw that I was not alone in my frustrations with this book.

Like others, what bothered me the most about the book is the heroine's constant repeating that she "couldn't break a promise". And yet that's what she did. The h

I really enjoyed this book. It was a slow and sweet romance. Jessie was 15 when Cameron invited her to Prom. She shared her very first kiss with Cameron up on Lovers point. The two only kissed, but she knew in heart that she loved him. The two both had plans after high school. He was going off to med school to become a doctor. She was going to college to become a journalist. Her plans came to a halt when her father got sick with cancer her senior year. She stayed home working in his garage, and ...more

I really liked this story. 15 year old Jessie was asked to the prom by 18 year old Cameron. He was her first date and kiss. Basically her first love. He felt so much for her but he had his plan to go to college and become a doctor so he knew he had to say goodbye.
17 years later she was still smitten/in love with him and he came back to town for his mothers birthday. The sparks fly and he could not deny them any longer. She never did and everyone knew she had always loved him, but he never knew u

The Doctor Wears a Stetson tells us about Jessie Kincaid who has always had a crush on Cameron McCade. She was an innocent 15 year old when she went to the prom with Cameron, and she realized she loved him. He had feelings for Jessie too but wasn't changing his plans to go to college and become a doctor. She was heartbroken when he left town without saying goodbye. This is the first time for me on reading anything published by Anne Marie Novark that has created a reunion love story.

Jessie Kincaid was fifteen when Cameron McCade asked her to the prom. After the prom, they went parking where she had her first kiss and gave her heart that night to Cameron. The next day, he left for college and to pursue his dreams never looking back.

Seventeen years later, Cameron is back in Salt Fork, Texas, for his mother’s birthday party. Newly widowed Jessie Devine still

The storyline was very well written and weren't any errors that I had noticed. There were some sex scenes but there were no in depth details to cause concerns. What I liked most about this book is Jessie and Cameron had a past that sets things up for the rest of the book. In the beginning Cameron was written as though he were a bit cold and didn't care about those around him, especially Jessie, but that was starting to change when he ran into Jessie. Cameron realized that there was some sort of ...more

I thought I would give the Diamondback Ranch Series a chance since all books, except this one, have an over-all Goodreads rating of over 4 Stars.
I found the McCade Family to be likeable, with Dallas McCade being the only exception. Cameron McCade is the lead in this book and the story revolves around his interest in Jessie Kincaid.
