Holly Lin is living two lives. To her friends and family, she's a pleasant, hardworking nanny. To her boss and colleagues, she's one of the best non-sanctioned government assassins in the world.

But when a recent mission goes wrong causing one of her team members to die, she realizes she might no longer be cut out for the work -- except the mission, as it turns out, is only...more

Review of No Shelter by Z. Constance Frost

This was one of the first novels I downloaded for Kindle, as I'm slowly integrating myself into the wonderful world of e-readers. I saw Frost's name mentioned on a message forum, so I thought I'd take a look. Very eye-catching cover, intriguing blurb, so I decided to grab a sample. I burned through it in one night, got to the end of the sample section, and immediately clicked to buy the entire novel…it was that gripping.

Review by A.M. Donovan

This is a fast paced story that gets you right into the action.
Starts with the first mission, and shows you the characters through their actions, instead of trying to describe everything in minute detail. This is something I very much like.
This is the type of Nanny (or Parent) every child should have. Willing to do whatever it takes to keep the children safe.
The main character, Holly Lin, is not one dimensional, but has complex relationships w...more

Well this was a action packed book, filled with vulgar language and violence. However I really don't know where the plot went, it kinda got jumbled up

We met Holly on a mission, she is an assassin/nanny which in itself is a strange combo. Holly is a fighter with a past that most probably wouldn't be able to get over. Its this past that we learn about little by little that drives her in what she does and what she is.

But...apparently its driving her in the wrong direction, because she messes up on...more

This book is a suspense thriller about a young woman who is a nanny by day and an assassin for hire by night, so to speak.

The premise is not bad, though the story faltered once in a while and things were done that didn't make sense to me. The whole thing was written in the present tense, which I do not favor, as it always reminds me of Silence of the Lambs: "It rubs the lotion on its skin, or else it gets the hose again." There were also a few errors, such as the one in which the author refers...more

I don't normally read these types of books anymore, but I got a free copy and was sucked right in. I love that the main character is female. She's quick. She's clever. She kicks ass. Yes, she kills people for a living (when she's not being a nanny!), but I *love* that the author has shown that she's not 100% cold hearted and emotionless. Makes her all the more real. I'm excited to see what comes next in the series. Definitely pick this book up and give it a read. I don't think you'll be disappoi...more

The first book featuring Holly Lin, our heroine, who is a nanny to two children and also a highly skilled assassin.

This book is a fast read (65k words, 247 pages), the story flows smoothly and the dialog is very natural. You believe Holly is fully capable of all the things she does, but not that she will always win. Swartwood has created a very likable character (if you’re on her good side) with some real-world issues. No extraneous 'info dumping' to slow things down.

The action will take you fro...more

If you like your reading fast and action packed, you're going to enjoy Robert Swartwood's exciting and riveting No Shelter. Once you start reading, it's hard to put this book down. The action is non-stop and the Holly Lin character is just as much an action hero as she is witty and compassionate. This book is a real page-turner! Well done, Mr. Swartwood!

Not a bad read at all. Although I did have some issues with a character I really liked dying way too early in the story. But this always happens. I need to just stop picking favourites.

This gets really good in the beginning, then kinda gets boring in the middle, but picks right back up again around the 70% mark. Wherever the part 3 (I think it's three parts) starts.

I wouldn't mind getting the second book when it releases.

This was a good, fast-paced, solid read. Character development is especially well done for the action-hero, Holly Lin, and the action never drags. The prose is well-executed and clear, all while remaining out of the way to allow for quick enjoyment of the story. Although I didn't feel enough wow factor to give the novel 5 stars, it would have been 4 stars except that I remained unconvinced by too many elements that were critical to the plot. Without giving away any spoilers, I just didn't buy th...more

If Goodreads would let me, I'd give this book 4.5 stars actually. It was GREAT! I was not a huge fan of the "C" word but other than that I loved the book! GREAT character development, great story and griping action. I loved it. I hope there will be more Holly Lin books to come!

This was a fun read and an extremely well-written action novel, with a good amount of character depth to help draw me into the situation. Frost (Swartwood) knows how to keep a reader turning pages.

Wow, what a wonderful surprise this book was! I love a tough, strong, butt kicking heroine, and Holly Lin is just that.

another book that my step-dad bought and I read. I was enthralled and can't wait for the second book to come out!

Loved this book! It was action packed and easy to read. Really grabbed me at the halfway point where I just had to find out how it ended. Holly was an incredibly complex character and the various situations allowed you to see all sides of her. The plot twists were unexpected and realistic in that not everything ends up all perfect and rosy. I got this book as a free read through an Amazon Prime trial thinking it looked entertaining and like something I wouldn't mind borrowing for a while. Wrong...more
