Some Like It Wicked is the first book I've read by Teresa Medeiros and I really liked it. I bought The Devil Wears Plaid a whole ago but never got around to reading it. Then I saw that Laurie had this and it sounded good, so I figured I'd give it a go. Plus, it would give me a little bit of feel for Medeiros' writing before I read The Devil Wears Plaid since this was one of her earlier works. At this point, I really want to jump right into reading the next book, Some Like It Wild, because I abso ...more

Really 3.5 stars.
My historical streak continues with “Some Like It Wicked” by Teresa Medeiros. I enjoy Ms. Medeiros’ writing and I also enjoy stories about Scotland (ah, brawny highlanders in kilts!), so I couldn’t put this one off for long. As I began the book, I was soon lost back in time in England, rooting for a beauty that refuses to give up on her hero.

Catriona is determined to find the brother who sent her off to England when she was just
SOME LIKE IT WICKED has inconsistent characters (now he's a wicked rake! now he's a mellow sweetheart! now he's wicked again!), a totally ridiculous plot (heroine wants to run off and do...what?), and not much else to recommend it. Oh, and as a bonus feature, there are a ton of historical errors (the author refers to buying commissions in the navy, seems to think the card games whist and faro resemble poker, has a mail coach drop a passenger off at her front door...and then there's the super-eas ...more
I really enjoyed this book.. Teresa Medeiros' books are a lot of fun to read, they are fast-paced, funny, romantic and sexy all wrapped together and this book is no exception! I usually don't read all the books in a series back to back (call me weird, but I tend to get bored!), but with this book I find myself wanting to jump right into the next book, so I think I'll do just that! Highly recommended! :)
It was a light and fun read, nothing serious and heavily emotional. It has just the right amount of humor and romance, the characters were likable, and the chemistry between Catriona and Simon was very well written.

After dealing with the gruesome deaths of her parents as a child, Catriona was sent to her uncle by her brother Connor to grow up as a respectable young lady. She has this fervent dream of reuniting the Kincaid clan and later on she grows up to make it come true, and there's nothing

2 stars. I wanted more plot and more character development. It needed something special or different.

Catriona’s Scottish parents were killed by the English. Her brother stayed in Scotland and sent her to live with an uncle in England. Her cousins made life difficult, and she dreamed of returning to Scotland. Catriona first met Simon when he was having a tryst with Alice, Catriona’s cousin. Simon then served in the Navy and was given a hero’s welcome when he returned. But he was mise
It has been a while since Ms. Medeiros released her last novel. So, I had high hopes for her latest release. When I first started this book, I did not like the hero at all. He was a womanizer who seemed to have no hope of ever being reformed. Half way through the book though, you find out more about him and why he acts the way he does. I became sympathetic to his character, and I wanted to keep reading to see how things would work out with the hero and heroine (the latter, by the way, is a nice ...more

I would give a long review but it would be pointless because there's only a few words to describe Some Like it Wicked. Wonderful, Funny, lots of adventure, and most importantly lots of romance! Teresa Medeiros delivers yet another awesome historical romance!
My English review:

Catriona has been in love with Simon since she was 15 years old. She finally finds a way to spend time with him and realize her dreams. Simon introduces her to the decadent world of passion and lovemaking: making her a woman and a wife in all ways. This love story is a great read and I didn't want to put it down!!

An OK book... nothing special. Engaging story, but it follows the "romance" pattern without fail.

Simon seems to be the "bad boy" - he thinks he is, and he tries to make Caitriona think so, too. Problem is, he just won't admit to himself how much her caring for him means to him... and then won't admit how much he loves her. So that seems to make him a horrible person, treating her meanly, if not brutally at times with his words.

Caitriona is more than naive. She's spunky and intelligent, but for

This was really a great read. I truly enjoy Medeiros' style and the story was smooth and fun and even tender. It is just a bit reminiscent of an old Errol Flynn or Cary Grant movie where there is adventure, witty dialogue between characters, and romance of the softer kind. Not steamy but very warm. TM's writing talents give you a clear view to the story and it plays well in your mind, captivating enough to take you completely in and let's you look around. It's like those optical illusion posters ...more

This is the first book I’ve read by Teresa Medeiros and I’m several years behind those who read it when it was first published. I love the thrill of finding a new author who can take me away and I admit I was engaged immediately and found her tale of her fiery heroine and sexy, sometimes vulnerable, rake of a hero enjoyable.

I won't give you all the details because you can read them from others who post here. I'll just say it’s a story of two people who are fighting their pasts as they find their
In SOME LIKE IT WICKED, Catriona Kincaid was sent to her uncle when her parents died. Reading in a hayloft, she espied her cousin (kind of akin to an evil step-sister) about to be compromised by a dashing soldier, Simon Wescott. Luckily for her (and for us), Catriona fell atop Simon before Alice's utter ruination could take place. (I don't know about you, but I don't want to see the hero having sex with the heroine's cousin. That doesn't seem heroic to me. Luckily it didn't happen.)

After reading Shadows and Lace, this book was a breath of fresh air. You've got your spunky heroine, the reluctant hero and a motley of side characters that makes the story funny, heart-warming and just fun to read.

Love the banter between Simon (seems to be a very popular common-sounding name for a not so straight-laced hero in many books) and Catriona. Found myself smiling when reading = that means to me the story is entertaining enough and manages to engage me to a point that i can't keep my

Recommends it for: romantics, Medeiros fans
I haven't read a romance novel in a very long time that caused me to sit down and read...and read...and read. I read this entire 372-page novel in less than 24 hours. I just enjoyed it so much that I could not put it down. I'm a Teresa Medeiros fan to begin with, but I have to say that this is the best novel out of her last three or four.

Catriona Kincaid is a proud, naïve, dreamer of a girl. She's been in love with Simon Wescott since she clapped eyes on him at 15 years old. As for Simon, he cou

This was a library find that I grabbed on a whim. Teresa Medeiros is definitely an author on my “must read” list, so I figured it’d be worth it. The premise is fun. Catriona enlists the help of her childhood crush, dashing Simon Westcott, with an offer he can’t refuse – marry her so she can claim her dowry and go off to Scotland to find her estranged brother, and she’ll pay off his debts. A problem arises, though, when they end up having some serious chemistry. In order to annul their marriage t ...more
