When I think of prayer, the song Sweet Hour of Prayer comes to mind. I have always thought of prayer as an Art. To succeed I must take time to learn the proper attitude, etc. I would like to hear the words more often The Art of Praying. As DANIEL HENDERSON writes in TRANSFORMING PRAYER, prayer isn't just a "list" of bless hers, bless hims, help that family, make me stronger, please help me pay that bill and so on. Prayer allows us the chance to have an intimate relationship with God. I learned i...more

This is the book I have been searching for for a very long time. I have been so dissatisfied with praying through a prayer list and have tried praying using Christ's example of prayer, but just couldn't seem to connect well. My "quiet time" consists of reading from the Bible and then praying and waiting to hear from God. As I read through this book I was encouraged to "seek God's face" and to pray during my time of Bible reading instead of waiting until the reading was completed. The book includ...more

The book is filled with testimonials from several people who have attended the conferences and have had their lives, both prayer li...more

This book tells the importance of seeking God's face in prayer by acknowledging His character and praising Him instead of just giving a list of your requests. You can do this by personalizing a psalm or other scripture. I was blessed by reading this.

"Transforming Prayer: How Everything Changes When You Seek God's Face" by Daniel Henderson is a non-fiction book that discusses why prayer should be more than what we as Christians have made it and how we can go from an ordinary prayer life to one that is extraordinary.

The author argues that prayer should first and foremost be an act of praising God and that only this will prevent prays degenerating into "shopping lists". I found this a helpful book on achieving a right balance in prayer.
