Cindy Woodsmall (Goodreads Author)
Reeling from an unexpected betrayal, can Sylvia find relief from the echoes of her past…or will they shape her future forever?
Although Sylvia Fisher recognizes that most Old Order Amish women her age spend their hours managing a household and raising babies, she has just one focus—tending and nurturing the herd on her family’s dairy farm. But when a dangerous connection wi

I loved this book. Having not read the first two books in the series, I wasn't sure how jumping right into book 3 would feel. Right from the start, I felt perfectly at home. While characters from previous novels are present, even vital in this third installment, the main characters and the main love story are unique to this book and thus easily read without feeling lost.

Sylvia Fisher is an Amish woman who wants more than anything to run her family dairy farm. She just needs to learn about the business end of the farm. But her father and her fiance have other plans. Everything backfires and she is betrayed in more than one way. She leaves the comfort of her parents home and farm to work for an Amish family that desperately need help getting back on their feet. Sylvia thinks she is the person that can help them get their dairy farm more productive. Then here come...more
The Harvest of Grace by New York Times Best-Selling Author, Cindy Woodsmall, is an Ada House Novel, with the central figure being a “plain” girl named Sylvia Fisher. Sylvia was one of several daughters, raised in a large Amish family. She and her sister closest in age, Beckie, were very close, until something happens and Beckie suddenly is marrying Sylvia’s beau, Elam. This occurrence breaks Sylvia’s heart and throws her into such a stage of depression and confusion that she begs her father to l...more
My second foray into a digital book led me to Cindy Woodsmall's The Harvest of Grace. This is the third and final book in the Ada's House series.
This third installment introduces us to Silvia Fisher, a young Amish woman with a broken heart. She meets up with Aaron Blank the (former) alcoholic son of Michael and Dora Blank.
Any book that comes with a cast of characters list is always suspect to me. If there are too many characters how does one keep it all straight? I would gather to think the even...more

The Harvest of Grace by Cindy Woodsmall is an enjoyable read with interesting characters. It's not great literature, but, then, I don't think anyone picks up a book in this genre with the hope of discovering The Great American Novel. It's the kind of thing to read when you are curled up in bed with a cold, and you want to enjoy something sweet, predictable, and soothing. I have many such moments in my life, and, apparently, a lot of other women do, too, for there are shelves upon shelves of Amis...more
***Though the publisher provides the free book, I offer the opinion.***
My Look:
The betrayal of a sister who marries the man Sylvia Fisher loved gets even more complicated. Years later, Sylvia indulges her sister's husband in an adulterer's kiss, and she must give up her family. She takes a job on a farm, the Blank's farm.
Cara Moore is discovered living with her daughter in Ephraim's barn. Alone with her daughter, Cara's background is heartbreaking; her mother died and her father left her alone a...more

I have to begin my review by saying, this book by far exceeded my expectations!! I always expect Cindy Woodsmall books to be good, but this one was above great! It drug me in and I could not put it down until I finished it.
Now what made this book so good? It was full of twists and turns that you just don't expect in the average Amish novel. Romance gone bad, single woman kissing a married man, Amish man in rehab program for alcoholism, anger, rage, and much more. All the characters of this book...more

The Harvest of Grace is book 3 in the Ada’s House Amish Romance series by Cindy Woodsmall and it’s another hit for the author. I’ve read the first book but have not read the 2nd and it was no problem to follow along in this book, even though there are a lot of characters is easy to keep them straight as you follow the life of Sylvia Fisher. Sylvia isn’t your typical Amish woman – she doesn’t desire to be only a wife and mom, she wants to be an equal partner in her marriage but after a heart brea...more

The Harvest of Grace
An Ada’s House Novel

But when Elam got angry over her hesitation, she never realized that she would be betrayed by those closest to her. The Harvest of Grace is probably one of the best romances I've read in a long, long time. I was a bit surprised to find so many main characters, but each one distinct story, yet all woven together perfectly. I loved watching each couple grow together throughout the book, accomplishing their goals while overcoming their obstacles.
At first, the Pennsylvanian Dutch words and phrases used - frequently - threw me for a spin and made it a little difficult for me in the first couple chapters. It was in...more

This is a long overdue review.
As this book has been sitting on my desk for nearly 3 months!
However, I'm glad I chose the first snowfall to read this heart-warming story,
and final book in the trilogy.
I love Amish fiction, and this one did not disappoint.
At times, I found it hard to get into, but overall, I loved it.
It was a fabulous end to the characters I have been following.

The Harvest of Grace is Cindy Woodsmall’s third book in her “Ada’s House” series. In this book we meet Sylvia Fisher, a young Amish woman whose skills encompass tending and nurturing a dairy herd more than the homemaking skills that her friends excel in. A heartbreaking development sends her away from home, where she finds employment on another farm, becoming a trusted friend of the arthritic Amish farmer and his wife.
But when Aaron Blank, the farmer’s son, returns home after months in rehab, hi...more

Picking up right where The Bridge of Peace left off, Cindy Woodsmall takes us once more back into the lives of the characters we have come to know and love to see where their lives are headed, in the latest novel, The Harvest of Grace. This is the third book in the Ada's House series and it feels nice to head back to the Amish farm lands once more.

I have just recently started read Amish books, and I was surprised to find out that I liked them a lot.
The characters were all very easy to fall in love with, and I found myself flipping page after page, eager to find out was going to happen next.
There are several storylines going on at once, and it can get a little confusing as to what's going on if you're not paying attention, and especially if you haven't read the previous books. There is a "story so far" page at the begining of the book, and...more

I'm still basking in the wonder of this read. Like all of Woodsmall's books, I lost sleep racing through it and then end up lamenting that the reading experience was over too soon! LOL.
Woodsmall knows how to tell a story. Rich characters, complicated plot, soul searching questions all combine to make this an astounding read. And to add to the pleasure of it readers get to reacquaint themselves with Ada, Cara, Ephraim, Lori, Deborah, Jonathan, Lena and Grey....and, of course, Better Days! Each co...more

The Harvest of Grace is the second book in the Ada's House series. As you can tell from my review of The Bridge of Peace, I absolutely fell in love with Woodsmall's stories and love the subtle lessons in them. While I liked The Bridge of Peace more than it's sequel, The Harvest of Grace was immensely enjoyable and I couldn't put it down.

The Harvest of Grace by Cindy Woodsmall is the third book in the Ada's House series. Sylvia fled her family farm after she nearly betrayed her sister, Beckie, to work on a farm in a new town. The Blank's farm seems to be her chance to start over. But when their son, Aaron, returns home from a stint in rehab, all her dreams are again in turmoil. Aaron has always just wanted to please his parents, a job that often seemed impossible so he turned to alcohol to escape the feelings of helplessness. No...more

Harvest of Grace by Cindy Woodsmall is a fabulous read and is really uplifting and teaching.
At first I was just a bit confused with it because of the many levels this book as. Being use to a story about one or two people I was surprised that this story has so may characters and story plots in it.

Women are daughters, mothers, wives and lovers. They are amazing in their ability to nurture, negotiate, navigate, and neutralize. They are masters at multi-tasking. When a woman steps off of the path she is expected to follow, and lets her inner compass guide her way, she may face great obstacles along her chosen course. Sylvia Fisher is such a woman. Born into a conservative Old Order Amish family of dairy farmers, Sylvia has an intuitive knack for the care and management of the herd on the fa...more
What an enjoyable read, and am sorry to say we will be leaving Ada's House, at least it looks that way to me. I love visiting with these old friends, and some new ones!
A recurring theme in this story seems to being able to accept God's forgiveness. Sylvia Fisher has left her Dead's farm, because she can't forgive herself for a sin she has committed. You will wonder if she and Aaron Bank will make a match?
Cara Atwater Moore is now learning the Pennsylvania Dutch in hopes of the Deacon and Bishop...more

This is book three of the Ada’s House series and has several story lines going on at one time—all intermingled together—just like life! The main story line is that of Sylvia Fisher, a young Amish woman who would rather help her father with the family diary farm business instead of working at the traditional roles for young Amish women. Sylvia is content with her life until a string of events take place that disrupt her entire world. Determined that she must leave home, she finds a job as a dairy...more
The plot of this book revolves around Sylvia Fisher, a twenty-two year old Amish girl who is different than most. She's a girl who isn't afraid to get out in the dairy barns and work, actually the love of dairy farming was instilled in her by her grandfather, who actually left her his home when he died. When she hesitates to give her boyfriend an answer to his marriage proposal he does the unthinkable and marries her sister, life becomes difficult on the farm, but when something unthinkable happe...more

This book was absoloutely phenomenal. It is the third book of a fantastic series, and I cannot wait to read more of this author. I wish I could write like this. Cindy Woodsmall has some gift!
It is one of the most interesting Christian romances I have ever read. These couples are so in-depth and unique it is hard not to love the individual characters. The Harvest of Grace by Cindy Woodsmall is a sweet Amish story. The main story is about Aaron and Sylvia, but also about several other couples. It was easy to follow along and keep up with the different families. One thing Cindy did that I like is have a list of characters and told a little about each of them. That really helps to keep everyone straight especially when you first start a book. This is also the 3rd book in the Ada’ House series and I would have been lost without the list of chara...more
This was a great read. I haven't read the first two books in the series, and as a stand alone, The Harvest of Grace fell just a bit flat, especially at the end. The entire epilogue was about Ephraim and Cara, a secondary couple/romance in this book--though I gather they are a prominent plotline in the other books. But it wasn't necessarily out of place and didn't interfere with the storyline.
The main storyline follows Sylvia, a dairyfarmer's daughter, who is betrayed by her boyfriend, Elam, and...more

At first, the “Story So Far” page lost me. This is the first book I have read of Cindy Woodsmall’s Ada’s House Novels, and yet I enjoyed it. Sylvia Fisher’s story talks about love, betrayal, family, and feeling left out. It talks about so many issues that I and the readers of my blog can relate to personally. I especially found the secondary character, Cara, relatable.

This book was a bit unbelievable. I have read numerous Amish books in the past, but this one seemed to paint the Amish in a different picture. The hero (who is Amish) is a recovering drunk, the heroine (also Amish) kissed her sister's husband and ran away, they barely speak any Dutch or German. On the back of the book, it talks about Sylvia and Aaron. But half the book is about a woman named Cara forgiving and reviving a relationship with her once-drunk father. I didn't care much for Cara. I wan...more
My review: Sylvia Fisher is gifted with a special touch with dairy cattle, so when she makes a horrible mistake with her past love, she flees to another Amish community to work for Michael and Dora Blank.
Their son, Aaron Blank returns home after spending time in rehab, to sell his parents farm and move them to an easier lifestyle in their ole age. But his father doesn't believe he's really changed. And then there is the pretty young woman who tends his parents livestock and for whom his parent...more
This is the last book in the Ada's House trilogy - so all the characters' story lines in the first books are wrapped up but there is an additional character (Sylvia) introduced. Sylvia's story took a turn I wasn't expecting and I felt so sad for her and a bit angry at her father for not understanding her feelings at all (I thought some of the beginning story line could have been written a bit better). I have to say that I really did enjoy this series. The stories of the four couples are each ver...more
