recommends it for:
those interested in environmental health regulation
An important story about an environmental health tragedy in Woburn, Massachusetts. Well-written and researched, it offers an incredibly detailed account of the legal case that was fought in order to prosecute the corporations responsible for the pollution. Weaves the personal lives of the lawyers into the story, focusing especially on Jan Schlictmann, lead lawyer for the prosecution, who becomes a man haunted by this case.

Uh, my copy isn't the reading group guide, but, you know, close enough...
In the top right hand corner of the first page where most people write their name, as in "This Book Belongs to Shanna Sanders," mine says "John Travolta."
Maybe its purpose is to get me to rethink my career aspirations?

I actually read this one for my Civil Procedure class in Law School. I probably would've enjoyed it a lot more if I read it on my own without focusing on all the legal procedure. Pretty solid overall.

Very dense legal story about toxic waste dump site in MA. Packed with detail and legal drama, it was ultimately a depressing story about the state of our legal system.
