So much for romanticizing the lives of women in the antebellum period.
This book took the ordinary lives of all women from both Charleston and Boston and compared them to give an accurate standing of what it was actually like for women during this period. I found it surprising the that in some ways the south was ahead of the north in rights for women and found that what I expected Boston to be advanced on I was correct.
