Anyone who likes paranormal romance
Hmm... This book was tacky, but in a good way. It made me laugh, with Jessica and Sweetie Pie and Sparkle Stardust; I mean, how could you not laugh? It was actually a pretty good book all-in-all, the background for the characters was intriguing, the dialogue was witty and the Castle of Dark Dreams was an excellent setting for this paranormal romance. I would recomment this book to anyone who doesn't mind reading about sensual vampires (who unfortunatly have too long hair), strong minded women, a...more
Oh. My. God. I think Nina Bangs is my brain twin and possibly Tom Holt's somewhat more romantic doppelgänger, and I absolutely freaking LOVE her, even if she calls herself Nina Bangs, of all things!! ;P
I read a lot of funny books, so I won't go as far as to call this the funniest book I've ever read ... but it's definitely the most hilarious Paranormal Romance I have come across to date. Possibly the most ROFLMFAO one ever written. IN THE HISTORY OF PNR. I heart mycrappy local book exchange, b...more

I feel bad rating a book 1 star but god it was awful, for me anyhow.
I didn't like Nina's style of writing, it just didn't flow right. The plot kept getting interrupted by unnecessary musings/descriptions/explanations. The interaction between the characters had potential but never really sparked my interest!
As for the characters themselves... ugh! I disliked them all. Maybe I'm picky but they just didn't have any depth or likeable qualities. And don't get me started on the names...

3.5 more like it. This was my introduction to Nina Bangs, and I enjoyed her humor throughout the book, about an adult entertainment park staffed by three immortals who play, well...themselves. The Castle of Dark Dreams is investigated by a late night radio talk show host, Donna, and you know things are going to get perky when she's given the "Wicked Nights" suite with two houseplants, Sweetie Pie and Jessica, who gain sustenance from human emotion, particularly sexual emotion. A fan of houseplan...more
I can't tell one Castle of Dark Dreams book from another. They all sort of blend together in my mind. However, that said, each one is a treat in and of itself. Vampires, warlocks, Cosmic Troublemakers, these are fun, light, highly entertaining novels. I would have given them all 4 stars except for they are never memorable enough for me not to keep picking them up again and again to start reading them, only to go "oh, I've read this before". I'm a huge fan of Sparkle Stardust! :) one of the most...more
I really enjoy reading Nina Bangs; she is a witty writer and I always find myself laughing out loud when I read her novels. I really like Sparkle Star Dust and Ganymede, Two Badass Cosmic Troublemakers, that alternate taking the form of a cat...go figure! And then you have the wacky sorcerer and the Castle of Dreams, and the hot yummy vamps...how can you not want to read this series. Let's not forget our heroine, who is always strong minded and willing to go into battle, YES!! I love it! Oh and...more
More like 3.8 for me.
I LOVED a lot of it and I thought some of it was kinda "cheesy" The fantasy scenes for example. Hard to read and VERY cheesy.
The storyline was "OK", a bit "odd". The background on these characters was interesting and looking forward to reading more about them. LOVED Asmina! lol
Donna and Eric. He's NOT your typical vampire. He reminded me of a puppy actually. Really sweet and just wants to love someone who will love him back and know the REAL him, not the stigma that vamps h...more

THis is a story about 3 men who say they are brothers. One is a vampire, another is a love slave, another is a demon. The Castle they provide fantasies for is owned by a mysterious person. There is a wizard who is the lawyer and helps with the fanties keeping them on time. THis book is about the Vampire and him finding love. THere are several funny supporting characters, a sex crazed candy shop owner and a cast who is connected with Bast. It is a very fun read.
I enjoyed Nina Bangs' Wicked Nights. It's a contemporary vampire romance that is graphically erotic. It's fun, witty, irreverant, modern, and sometimes sweet. What it isn't is goth, dramatic, brooding. Wicked Nights doesn't take itself too seriously. I like the theme park/midnight radio premise; it's original. I reccommend reading it while eating candy. You'll look at chocolate covered cherries in a whole new way.
I read this one a couple of months ago and I really enjoyed it. If you like paranormal then this 3 book series is one you'll want to pick up. This one is about a vampire, but since it is a romance it is about him finding someone to love and someone to love him. There is plenty of other supernatural stuff in the book to keep it fun and interesting. Pick it up...you'll be glad you did.
The writing wasn't bad, nor was the plot. I just didn't like the lead character. She was so...I don't know. I'll try the next book in the series for three reason: 1) I already own it, 2) I hate starting a series (even a bad one) and not finishing it, and 3) because Bangs really wasn't a bad writer, I won't judge her entire works based on one annoying character.

I didn't even get past the prologue. Who the fuck is named "Sparkle"?
I only bought this because (a.) it was for sale at The Dollar Tree and (b.) the author's name is Nina Bangs. I mean, that's a joke, right?
So, between the back cover and the prologue, I'm thoroughly disturbed. What the fuck is an Adult Theme Park? Who greenlighted this manuscript?

It started off a bit slow and I seriously wondered if I was going to like it. But it turned around and surprised me. Eric and Donna made a great couple. I was interested in the glimpses that were given into Brynn and Conall and will read their stories too.

I liked this book. It had its moments. But I did think that the heroine was a little to quick to accept what was going on around her and I felt as this booked lacked any depth. There always seemed as if sommething was missing. I just couldn't put my finger on it. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it for what it was, however it is not a keeper book for me.
Despite my having said in my review of book #4 in this series, I did wind up reading this one, the story that started it all. There were some smile-worthy passages and certainly more than a little steam here and there, but for the most part it was silly and way over the top. Don't even get me started on the ending.
I thought it was a bit cheesy, it was ok.. It was the first book of Bangs that I have read, and I'm at a loss as whether I should press on and read the rest of the series. I probably will only because I hate starting a series and not knowing how the characters fare later on. I would rate it a 2.5 stars.
This book was recommended to me by a friend. I am only on chapter 3 and I am not sure if I like the writing style. I am going to give it a bit longer before I make a definite decision on the story.
It was an entertaining story once I got into it. It is filled with sex, so I don't recommend it if you don't care to read about that.
However, I won't read it again.

I really like how Bangs writes her vampires they are able to read minds plus they can control quite a bit of other things with their with their minds if you know what I mean (blushing). This story has humor, demons, a talking cat that love opera (she is more than a cat), a ghost, a meddling candy store lady, two plants that lives and grows on sex, romance and a fun fantasy theme park. A good quick easy read.

Recommends it for:
fans of sexy, funny Vampire romance
I'm SO glad i was able to look past the slightly cheesy cover, and silly description on the back, because this book was a delightful surprise. Sexy, campy, wickedly funny & thoroughly entertaining. i can't wait to dive into the second book in the series.
Just didn't dig this series. Read it because a friend of mine did/does. It was super corny. Plants that thrive off of others having sex, etc. I know I read paranormal craziness, but this was too much for me.

Talk about misspent youth. What did I do during those lazy summer days of childhood when I could’ve been honing my writing skills? Nothing. Okay, so I spent a lot of time dreaming I was a cowgirl with a trusty black stallion. Oh, and I read every Walter Farley horse novel. I was an only child so I relied on my imagination to supply the excitement in my life.
