If you've never been able to make up your mind what to do with your life, if people are always on at you for leaving projects half-finished, and (as they do with me) refer acerbically to "your latest enthusiasm", then this is the book for you!

Barbara introduces us to a type of person she calls a "scanner", someone whose abilities and mindset send them off in many fascinating directions. We can be really, really good at a wide range of things - modern renaissance souls - and the thought of specia
A great book for those people (like me!) who want to do EVERYTHING and can't find the time. I figured I had a problem when I used to play Sims and could never settle on a career, I'd just achieve the top job for each trade and then make my character go and find another job, and start at the bottom til I'd explored all of them.

Lots of very useful quotes and uplifting anecdotes. If you want to do everything and just can't figure out how you're going to achieve this - this book will give you some t

I am really happy I came across this book in the library. It is the perfect guide for confused creatures who are interested in everything and just don't know what to do with their lives.

The book describes the different types of "scanners", what they are, why are they like this and it suggests techniques to cope with everyday problems they encounter. It is very dynamically written, some sentences even made me laugh and I didn't get that "yeah, I've heard this before" feeling, which often comes to

I have often found myself worrying about what I should do with my life - I have so many hobbies and interests and I don't think I could ever pick one that I'd want to do exclusively. Thanks to this book I've learnt a whole new way of thinking about all these interests, and that I'm not the only one to have so many.

'What Do I Do When I Want To Do Everthing?' is a guide for those who feel they have so many ideas that they don't know where to start. It helped me define myself as a scanner (someone
Such a useful book. I learnt a lot. Author deserves a lot of credit for coming up with the classification/s of 'scanner' because it is a relief to be placed. A book that can change how you see things and what you do - very practical. Only drawback for me was the matey writing style, overfamiliar assumptions as to readers' level of self esteem (low presumed) and how they felt about being a scanner. Slightly overbearing and off the mark. Would benefit from more neutral tone. But the information an ...more

Wish I'd found this book 15 or 20 years ago, but I'm still elated to have found it now.
