Judy & Marianne from Long and Short Reviews
In a land where witches exist and dragons roam, on a night like no other the moon grows dark and the selection is made to once again save the lives of many. For one chance at freedom Camea must submit to the will of the Gods with hopes of escaping a life of servitude. Will her fearlessness and determination be enough are will she falter once she’s put to the test?

Shona Husk writes with an intensity and passion that moved me to keep reading. At times I found that the story lingered in places and

How to Breathe Fire is a wonderful short read. I really liked the fantasy element, with our heroine being sacrificed to the Fire God who watches over her home. Camea is not like most other young women, she has big dreams and tries to concoct a plan to escape. Each year the fire God takes a bride from the women of Camea's island village, but where the others dread being chosen, Camea hopes the her face is the one that the witch sees in her bowl and that she can use her 'marriage' as a chance to escape the mundane future that awaits her.

I really liked this short, Camea is wonderful and brave and just the person to finally teach the Fire God's lesson to a cursed prince. I love the tortured Matea too. Husk does a great job making me care about the pair

Loved it. That difference from other paranormal writer's is what I love about Shona and the way she draws you into the story so quickly that before you know it you're hooked and her characters are not always your standard paranormal creatures.

As an adult she discovered romance novels and hasn’t looked back. Drawing on history and myth, she writes about heroes who are armed and dangerous but have a heart of gold—sometimes literally.

With stories ranging from sensual to scorching, she
