Under the Crimson Sun by Keith R. A. DeCandido

Under the Crimson Sun is a stand-alone novel and the second book released in the newly relaunched Dark Sun series of novels based on the Dark Sun setting of Dungeons and Dragons. This book also ties into The Abyssal Plague trilogy, but is only a stand-alone novel and is not a part of the trilogy. This is the only instance of the plague being in the Dark Sun universe. Keith R. A. DeCandido has written a vast amount of novels for various shared univers

I liked this book. I was in need of a solid "Dark Sun" reading and I was indulged. Meaning, I wanted to read a good fantasy novels but without the usual castles, knights, and throne games we all love so much. It's D&D, which is a good thing if you're into role-playing games. And it's simple, very simple. Some of the descriptions are good (the royal palace), but most of the time the setting is not essential to what's going on in the book, even though a distinct "Dark Sun" also is over everyt

This book was so far the best of the series. Compared with the first book this kept more intrigue and interest flowing. The continuation of Murmur in this book was keeping with the story line of book one. I truly expected a single battle to last a little longer and ...more

This book had a lot of characters and a decent story. I have to say that the character I thought was going to be a main character turned out to not be, and that was a pleasant surprise. Once the story gets going it moves rather quickly. The author did a good job in changing the point of view easily from one character to another.

I picked this up on a whim. I actually really enjoyed the writing. The story itself was a little of a let down at the end, but I enjoyed the characters and the interactions they had. I see Keith as a writer with a great amount of potential.

Really do enjoy reading books set in Dark Sun. This one was pretty good, but it is related to the Abyssal Plague series, so if you are not reading that, some of it may not make sense. It was good on its own, but better if you understand everything that is going on.
