In this work, Fr. Burnell F. Eckardt, Jr. takes an intimate look at the development and meaning of the Divine Liturgy. The goal of the manuscript is to demonstrate the vital role that the Holy Liturgy of the Church plays in establishing a connection between the Old and New Testaments, the latter of which is epitomized in the chief element of the Mass: The Blessed Sacrament, around which the Liturgy was developed. This is a good cursory manual connecting the OT, NT, and the western Liturgy, interspersed with brief arguments for and defenses of orthodox Lutheran liturgical practice. Most interesting are the numerous insights into the liturgy's rooting in the Passion. There is a few minor typos in this edition.
