While these are well told stories, the were a disappointment after the poetic language and compelling story-telling of the Arthur trilogy.

Beautiful. Six short stories, re-told from folk tales taken from around Britain.
These would be even more beautiful read aloud outside, whilst breathing in the fresh air. As with all Kevin Crossley-Holland's stories - there is this beautiful freedom - as if you're looking up into the sky. His long running sentences or short clipped exclamations shouting out to nature. I don't quite know how he does it.
My favourite story I think was The Wildman.
