3.5/5.0 stars for me. I have only gone on Etsy to order some items, to get my store name, and research competition. Otherwise, I haven't really played around with Etsy. Had I done so then a large portion of this book would have been irrelevant.

I was already familiar with Facebook, Twitter and how to use them, how to set up an Etsy store, Google Analytics, Feedburner, Google Trends and Google Adwords Key Word Tool. What peaked my interest and what I took notes on was the section on SEO. I know t...more

For the Etsy and Computer Novice, this is a good work to educate you on using Etsy, setting up a blog or using social media. I also liked how this work explained how to word descriptions and item titles to take full advantage of the way Google and searches work. On the other hand, I ended up stopping this book in the midst of the Blogger Interviews (I think just way too many - although I recognize for those who are very interested in getting immersed, this is helfpul) and it made me question wha...more

Tim gave great information on how to build your Etsy site. I wish this book were around when I first started mine! The only think I thought was a little bit overkill were the amount of interviews. The Blog interviews were way too many. I would have taken the top three and published though. I started reading them and got bored and skipped to the end. The Shopowners interviews were a little more entertaining but I still feel there were too many.

I loved that Tim gave us information on how to set up...more

I was very unsure of all of the ins and outs of opening my own etsy shop and found that there were not a lot of books out there on the subject. I had pre-ordered this book and couldn't wait for it to come . . . it was not a disappointment. I learned a lot from Tim and he also has the website and email entitled Handmadeology, a constant source of information.

There was a lot of useful information in this book, but it was incredibly repetitive. Not only did the author repeat the same few points (take good pictures, blog a lot) many times, he actually repeated the same paragraphs verbatim in various sections of the book.
Judy
Good info for total newbies but not enough on the more complicated stuff like deciding shipping pricing or wholesale vs retail. Twitter chapter was way too short! Then a lot of repetition of interview material to pad book.

There's definitely some helpful information in here, but even though it was published just a year ago (2011), and apparently written in 2010, so much of it is already out of date.

While I really enjoyed this book, and it was great in walking me through the steps needed to list items, I began to feel two things: 1. At age 47, I'm a little old to be selling crafts on Etsy; and 2. Unless I'm prepared to devote my life to my shop, I'll never make any money with it.

I am going to have to work a full time job, and I have a tough time getting out of bed in the morning. I can't imagine printing labels while I eat my breakfast, running to the post office at lunch, and then spendin...more

A very good introductory text into how to get started and make some money on etsy. A few too many seller interviews though. Certainly worth a read if you need some pointers.

Mostly a book for the very new beginner - HOW to use Etsy, Facebook, Twitter, and blog. Most everything else could have been found on Etsy itself in articles and newsletters.
Marina
Not great for someone who has a decent amount of etsy experience, but GREAT for newbies, and still adds stuff to those of us who are looking to perk up our shops.
Taylor
Worth a browse. Definitely a beginner's guide, but a solid one. I did come out knowing more about SEO than I did going into it.

Another great book about how to start your etsy business.

Good information on the best way to set things up to sell on etsy. A large number of interviews at the end of the book with successful etsy sellers. If you are serious about selling through etsy this is a great resource.

If you ever thought of opening a shop on etsy, this is the book to read!
