Even when Beachy-Quick is focused on mythmaking and myth-telling that feels a bit too earnest and twee for my taste, his craft is so strong. He fully explores the concept behind each poem, starting with the line then adding depth of line. He's concerned with the overlap of temporal understanding of time and the way humans harness space - heady stuff, but still feels grounded in imagery.

I have trouble some times with poetry that follows form(s), but Dan Beachy-Quick always does so in such a way that I am sucked into his work - and his new collection is particularly apt at this stretching of form. A lovely read and very nicely produced by Tupelo.

When it is forbidden what is forbidden
I have this feeling in me I call sorrow

Most of the poems presented me with difficulties understanding them. But the collection will get a second read soon.
