I found this gem after the author had left several insightful comments on a philosophy blog that we both occasionally frequent. I ordered the book before it became available on amazon and thoroughly enjoyed it.

An intelligent sci-fi fantasy that is a pleasure to read. Elvene is a very strong female character. Myka, the young man she meets when she inadvertently lands in the sea near the island of his people, the Kiri is on the way to manhood. He already shows a growing independence of thought and spirit. Myka believes Elvene is part of his destiny; to his people she is the Ocean Woman. The Kiri work as a community, they hunt together, share their catch. Their society based on truth and trust.
