I love salad. My kids, not so much. This has a lot of interesting ideas for traditional "lettuce" salads and bean or rice salads too. A lot of them are not so kid-friendly (or at least my kids). I found several recipes I'd like to try and I really do need to try to make my own salad dressing.

I think the food photographer deserves much of the credit for the appeal of this book; the photos alone inspire me to create more salads, although mine don't look half as stunning as those in the book. Good, basic directions for working with unfamiliar products like whole wheat berries. If you, like me, have a horror of mayonnaise drenched cabbage, try the asian cabbage slaw or the cole slaw with mango and jicama. After reading the library copy all the way through, I bought my own copy. A nice variety of simple week night options. Great cook book!
Fabulous salad ideas and dressings - plenty of non-dairy, non-meat choices for vegans.
You wouldn't think a cookbook about salad could be all that exciting (or necessary), however this book proves that wrong. I enjoyed learning more about what pairs well in a salad, delicious dressing recipes, and gorgeous photography. I may even have to buy this one (or put it on my Christmas list).
If you can find half of the greens called for in these recipes, you must live closer to unique markets. I was hoping for some simple ways to dress up salads, but these recipes called for odd ingredients, hard to find greens, and a lot more time than I'd be willing to put into a salad.
this book is the fucking bomb.
