When I read Small-Town Moms recently, I was pleasantly surprised by a secondary character named Mrs. Hargrove. She was the heroine's mentor and I liked her right away! Imagine my delight to find she had a book all to herself. Her story is very interesting, a little heart-breaking, but ultimately it's happy.
In her letter to the reader, Janet wrote, "Renewed love doesn't have an age limit. It's not just for those people who are beautiful or drive elegant cars. Love can also come from some unexpect

I read this book after some of the more recent ones, so it helped me to tie up loose ends in my mind! The widowed Mrs. Hargrove just couldn't imagine that her longtime friendship with Charlie would actually turn into a love relationship so she didn't see any of the signals he was sending. At the same time, Charlie didn't know a secret about Mrs. Hargroves's past marriage that might show him that she might love again. A lonely young lady drifts into town on a motorcycle and becomes a part of the ...more

A sweet love story.

This is Mrs. Hargrove's story, and it is a delightful one. How refreshing it was to read a romance with an older couple featured, and to see that Christians have often gone through some very tough times that have helped strengthen their faith. When faced with some very embarrassing news, openness and honesty are the path chosen, which is a great lesson for all of us, although a difficult one to act on.

It was finally Edith Hargrove and Charlie Nelson's turn for a book.

Janet added an interesting twist from the past.

Another top notch book.

Although the grandson Ben was called Brad in this book.

nice to see an older couple for once. nice to know that we're NOT "dead" once we pass a certain age.

and again, real people in this book, not people you can't relate to

Janet grew up in the wide open spaces of rural Montana and now lives in the urban spaces of Pasadena, California. She's used both of these locations in her books. Her Dry Creek, Montana series numbers over twenty novels now and her Pasadena books, The Sisterhood of the Dropped Stitches, number four.
