As a romance reader, I was very impressed with Claiming the Evil Dead. This book holds both Urban Fantasy and Paranormal romance elements, so you get to be able to enjoy both genres together. I loved the characters and the idea of a heroine holding the power to take out evil in a way that is very impressive. This story has danger, adventure, and some extra tension by a hot demon.

Wow! I completely got lost in this story and world.

Jessie is half-demon who eats souls - evil souls and sends them to Hell. I enjoyed the character of Jessie - she was a bit flighty at times, but she was determined that what she did was necessary and made a difference in the world. I definitely got her sense of humor and found myself laughing even in tense moments. She did tend to be a bit independent - to her own determent - especially when she would get a head of Drake and try to go it alone.

Ok after an extremely hectic week I finally got to sit down and read this book. I was so glad I did. I really liked it. First off I lovvvvvvvvveeee Drake! The story is about a half demon, soul catcher, named Jessie who works at as a paranormal investigator. She has the ability to suck the soul's out of evil doers which sends them straight to hell. One night she encounters the handsome 842 year-old vampire named Drake who asks her to help him track down a visious vampire named Alexander who is on ...more

Half-demon Jessie Garrett is searching for an evil vampire that's been preying upon children. She wants to claim the rogue vamp's soul and send it to hell. To find the dead man walking she must partner with another bloodsucker, Drake, even though she doesn't trust him. The first novel in the Soul Catcher series, Claiming the Evil Dead by Mary Abshire is an action packed Urban Fantasy that is perfectly blended with Paranormal Romance. But, don't be fooled by the 'erotic' labeling on the cover because while this novel is full of sexy characters with a passionate relationship, this is nowhere close to being as graphic as you would expect from something deemed Erotic Romance. Jessie is one hot half demon – literally. Her body temperature is such that every day can feel like the middle of summer. She also has a temper that can flare off the charts at a moments notice, but it’s not all bad. Being half demon also comes with some extraordinary healing capabilities. We're talking break her neck kind of healing. It also comes with one more unexplainable ability that is probably the most important and one in which she uses to the fullest extent that she can – soul sucking. ...more

Claiming the Evil Dead is a sizzling hot, action packed urban fantasy romance. The story is told from the first person point of view of Jessie, a half-demon paranormal investigator. Jessie is a kick ass heroine with an amazing ability. She ingests the souls of the evil dead by sucking their ghostly forms into her mouth and sends them to hell.

The vampire Drake is in desperate need of Jessie's special gift. Drake is challenged with finding and exterminating the vile vamp Alexander, who has been pr

Jessie being half demon has the power to send souls to hell. After her mother committed suicide when she was 13 and she was left her with Sean a wizard friend, Jessie has kept her distance from the paranormal word, a world her mother feared. But when she is approached by a very alluring vampire Jessie might have to reevaluate those fears.

Drake is unlike any vampire or human for that matter that Jessie has ever met and she just can't control the urges that he brings out in her. Wail out in searc

LOVE THE SERIES!!! Claiming the Evil Dead should come with a WARNNG: Beware this book will interfere with whatever you have planned for the day. I couldn't put this book down, was up until the wee hours to finish. I kept skipping ahead every few pages then going back because I was so anxious for what happens to Jessie (half demon) and Drake (vampire). Throwing Jeremy (demon) into the mix and I was a wreck. I've known about this series for a while, but for some reason other books got in the way. ...more

Jessie is a half demon who can claim a soul and send it to hell. Drake is a vampire who is searching for an evil child killing vampire. He hires Jessie to help him find the evil vampire so Jessie can send his soul to hell. Along the way Jessie meets Jeremy a full blooded demon who says he will help her. But who can Jessie trust the gorgeous Drake or the flirtatious Jeremy.

Loved it!! It's listed under Erotica, but it's more Paranormal Romance. Jessie is a half-demon who tries to live a normal life among the humans and secludes herself from any paranormals (she acts way too human for my taste and am surprise she hasn't read every possible book on demons as soon as she found out what she was). She is approached by Drake (a vampire who found out about Jessie's ability from a previous favor she did for her guardian) about a job opportunity on claiming the soul of an ...more

I really enjoyed this story. The author has a unique take on demons and their place in the paranormal world. Jessie is conflicted about her dual nature and Drake gives her some hope for the future. The author has written a very exciting story full of danger and intrigue and some compelling sexual tension not only with Drake, but also a certain hunky half demon hockey player. The characters are well drawn and interesting. This is a series that I will be definitely be following.

After reading the blurb about the story, I downloaded a sample of the book. I read the first 3 chapters and was hooked! I loved Jessie, she was smart, fun and over all entertaining. She comes off as a real women, even though she is part demon…

And Drake, let's just say "hot" is an understatement...

A fast and entertaining read that I really enjoyed and believe it will satisfy both UF and PNR fans.

Fire and Ice. That's what Mary Abshire has created in the first installment of the Soul Catcher series, Claiming the Evil Dead. And the result is HOT!

This is the first book I've had the pleasure of reading by Abshire, but it will not be the last! Her characters are complex and engaging. She's created an interesting world, where supernaturals are everywhere, we just don't notice them.

Jessie is a half demon. She knows where she is going, yet she strives to make the world a better place. She finds

Jessie is a awesome heroine!!

Jessie is a half demon with a special gift that she is trying to stop the supernatural world from finding out. She has human friends and a normal job aswel as a Paranormal Investigator. The only family she has left is her step dad and one person she trusts with her secret. But when a vampire finds out her secret and asks her to help track a evil vamp, she opens herself up. Claiming the Evil Dead has all of the things I like to see in a Paranormal Romance-Thriller &much much more! As the lead female Jessie the half demon Soul taker is strong yet vulnerable allowing the reader to relate to her feelings of insecurity in relationships. Drake is an honorable Vampire who you want to cheer for and then there is sexy bad boy demon Jeremy who you will love to hate (or just plain love). I enjoyed reading Jessie/Drake and Jeremy's story. Mary Abshire grabbed my attention in this storyline. But at times it seemed like over describing of things or actions. I felt the book dragged at times because of that. Jessie annoyed me too. She seems so immature and naive for being a half demon. Parts of her story I couldn't understand. One minute she wants to kill one of her guys for not being completely honest and using her and the next minute she is having sex with him. But it had to be ...more

Wow. Just WOW!

This is a fairly huge multiparanormal (demons, witches, warlocks, vampires and werewolves are all mentioned) tale and one gets to know the half-human heroine really well. She has a basic integrity which is, well, integral to her personality and informs all her actions, even the stupid ones. The good guys range from reasonably pure to quite complex, whereas the bad guys are pretty downright evil. It is good when you can wholeheartedly hiss at the villain(s)! The plot is well-defined

I enjoyed reading about Jessie and Drake. The characters are well written and have great chemistry. Jessie is a half demon with unique abilities. After seeing what she can do Drake offers her a job. After debating with herself to stay away from the attractive vampire or help him in stopping evil Jessie decides she can't say no. After being thrown into the world of paranormals, that she has so desperately tried to avoid her whole life, she learns that not all paranormals are as bad as she ...more

I will happily read everything ever written about Jessie. This is such a different take on demons and vampires. I can't say as I've read anything quite like it before. There's a bit of a horror/thriller vibe that's been perfectly paired with a paranormal romance to produce a story that kept me glued to the pages. I love that even though Jessie, Drake, and Jeremy are powerful entities they have vulnerabilities too. They're going up against a foe that could genuinely defeat them if they don't use ...more

Jessie is a young female demon who lives in Indianapolis and works a boring office job by day. By night she, her human roommate Dani, and their two friends Lester and Kyle are paranormal investigators. Uncaged Book Reviews:

There is enough suspense to keep you turning the pages, a gorgeous vampire, and a nice serving of romance. Characters are easy to like, and there are some hot sex scenes. This book easily tied up it’s storyline, and has a satisfying ending, making you want to read the next book.
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. No matter your initial thoughts when reading the first chapter - stick with it! The first couple of sentences I was intrigued, but wasn't so sure this was the book for me. I am so glad I stuck with it. It just got better and better,

Jessie is half-demon: her father is none other than the Devil himself, and her mother was a fragile little human being. Not only is she a rarity in the demon world with her gorgeous blue eyes, but the powers she possesses are unseen as well: she can breathe in spirits and send them straight to hell. Working together with some of her close friends in a paranormal investigators team, she enters haunted houses occupied by the spirits of deceased murders, consumes them and sends them right into the ...more
It’s always difficult to review an entire series, because each book is a different entity. The series exists as a single unit, yes, but its individual parts can vary in quality and entertainment value. That’s what I signed up for here, so I’ll give it my best shot.

I enjoyed the SOUL CATCHER series. The heroine, Jessie, has a great voice that’s fun to follow. First person is tricky to pull off–especially for an entire series–but Ms. Abshire manages it nicely. Poorly done first person can throw of
