Ted, my old boss at KWE (Kintetsu World Express) first recommended this book to me and told me that it very much changed his way of thinking. He said it might do the same to my own thinking.

I was skeptical and after forgetting that age old phrase of "never judge a book by its cover" (and not reading it for two months even after I bought it...I bought it only to appease Ted because I knew he was going to ask me if I had bought it...which he did)I finally sat down to read More...

I bought this book just as the year 2008 is starting. What's odd about this is that I don't even have any inkling of what kind of a book this is when I bought it in downtown Recto (I eventually found that it belong to the self-help genre). The book's title, "Think and Grow Rich" by napoleon Hill just flashed in my mind and, finding no prospective book to read at that time, I plunged on. As of this writing, I had finished the second round of reading it with future plans of doing it the More...

I originally read this book as part of a business mentorship program. I admit, I had some mental blockage when I started reading it, and only because I had personal fears and doubts about finances that I have since addressed by self-educating (see other recommended financial books on my list) and seeking assistance from qualified professionals with a good frame of reference for what I needed advice on (I love my financial advisor, Jason!). My picture of growing "rich" in the beginning More...

- DESIRE: THE STARTING POINT OF ALL ACHIEVEMENT
- nu te lasa descurajat de insuccese. Dimpotriva acestea trebuie sa te motiveze
- Wishing will not bring riches. But desiring riches with a state of mind that becomes an obsession, then planning definite ways and means to acquire riches, and backing those plans with persistence which does not recognize failure, will bring riches.
- To all these I wish to convey the thought that all achievement, no matter what may be its nature, or it More...

I have read hundreds of books over the past many years in my quest for success. "Think and Grow Rich" truly stands right near the top. It has made a positive impact on my life in many ways.

Frankly, as with many wonderful books, I have applied the principles in this book and have reaped incredible results.

One of the best books I've ever read. It kept me thinking the whole time about the ideas that I've encountered in this book. It talks about the new philosophy of enlightenment with practical applications of it.
The book talks mainly about accumulating riches, but it could be replaced by any other gaol that one desires.
This book will probably affect your life greatly if you're not already familiar with the new age of enlightenment.
If I have to criticize it, it'll be about one More...

This was the Jolly Girls Book Club latest read! I don't usually read "self help" books and was a bit nervous especially once I realized I had gotten my hands on the unabridged version of this book. But WOW! What a life changing book! I feel like if you read this book with an open mind you can take so many important lessons away from it. The priority in my life right now is not getting rich, I can barely make it through the day with all 4 children in tact. But what I love about this boo More...

“Think and Grow Rich” is another book in genre of Self-Help that has been famous for 70 years now and in many ways relevant today as well. I guess the title was given to woo the readers during the time of great depression in US but the ideas in the book deal more with helping people to become successful in their lives and workplace. For a serious reader this title is kind of misleading. When I had seen this book earlier, I had not picked it up thinking th More...

When you think of the self-help gurus of today, they can all pretty much credit Napoleon Hill as the original inspirational, motivational speaker of the 20th century. Nappy, as I lovingly refer to him, was ahead of his time with his Think and Grow Rich book. Of course, I didn't read it back than but I had to keep reminding myself the era of the book is from the 1920's. So I had to forgive him when he referenced a "colored girl" since that was accepted terminology back than.

Summary: What the mind can conceive, AND believe, it WILL achieve.

Every word in that summary is important. This book ultimately regards how you think and how your thoughts will get you to wherever you choose. Dating back to the post Depression era, Napoleon Hill does a great job in a theory-based piece on the psychology of thought and how it prevents or supports our dreams.

Every thing, action, circumstance, failure, or success is spawned by one -- thought. It is your thou More...

Though dated, this book provides concrete ideas for anyone wanting to achieve a goal and take stock of their business (and personal) weaknesses that may be currently preventing them from achieving it. The one section that is clearly out of date in our society deals with the "weakness of sex" - altogether humorous from a modern perspective, but perhaps not untoward. When sexual energy can be channeled into other things, and not become an object of manipulation, it can become a useful to More...

I’d wanted to read a classic self-help book, and several modern motivational speakers have credited Napoleon Hill. This book was written in the US in 1937, during recovery from the Great Depression. Hill asserts that the Great Depression was worsened by mass fear, and this concept seems just as valid in today’s economy. Much of what is offered in “The Secret,” including that now-trademarked name (a term that Hill coined but failed to copyright), is a direct rip-off from Hill.

Hill was More...

Do I have to give this a star? This is a self help book that has some good ideas, most of which people already know they should be doing to be successful. He takes on such controversial issues as "never giving up," "planning ahead," and the ever progressive and edgy idea "talk with smart people to get good ideas." The only real problem with the book is he studied hundreds of successful people and that is his research. All of the people had their own individual w More...

I was looking through some of the reviews and see that some people gave it five stars and some gave it only one. I think if the people who gave it one star would practice the principles given in this book they would quickly upgrade their rating.

This book was published in 1937, during the Great Depression, and if the people who suffered during that time had read this book their lives might have been better.

It is really about convincing yourself to become wealthy. It outl More...

In this oft-referenced self-help classic, Napoleon Hill promises to share the secret of the wealthiest people of his time (this book was published in 1937). At Andrew Carnegie's bidding, he spent 20 years interviewing and studying over 500 people, including Henry Ford, John Rockefeller, Thomas Edison, Marshall Field, Charles Schwab, and Alexander Graham Bell.

Did I discover the "secret" that will launch me to world-renowned success? Unfortunately, not that I'm aware. Do I ha More...

I wish I had the gall to suggest to my Sunday School class that they let me teach this book. Some Christians (who, in error, think wealth is evil, and not something God frequently, shamelessly, promises to many who follow him) find the title offensive. But the fact is, all achievement, all accomplishment, begins with thought. This book marshals thought, adds knowledge, discipline, seeking wise counsel, and coats it all with a generous dose of the fact that the world tends to compensate with w More...

This turns out to be another Law of Attraction book, but it's much more grounded in practicality than most. (Ex. Want a bunch of money? Follow these steps: Write down exactly how much you want, when you want it by, and what you will do in exchange for it. Make a plan. Do it.) He makes much of DESIRE and FAITH (heavy use of all-caps throughout for emphasis--I guess bold type wasn't invented yet when this thing was originally published in 1938) but it's not the la-la "dream it and you'll get More...

Hands down, this was the best $6.95 I've ever spent. My only regret is not reading it five years ago when the advice in the book could have helped out a lot more.

Now that I think about it, I probably wasn't ready and in the right state of mind back then to have put this book to good use which brings me to my review's main point; as long as you keep an open and humble mind while reading this, it will help change your life for the better. How much for the better? That is up to you. Bu More...

If you liked this book, I have some very fine cloth to sell you. It has special properties which make it invisible to the eyes of fools and simpletons. You might want to make a nice sweater out of it. It is very, very expensive, though -- a cloth fit for an emperor...

I only read this book because a very good friend of mine told me that he would read Mere Christianity if I would read this. I decided that for such a noble cause I would suffer through 231 pages of crazy talk.

I have to admit that there were times that I laughed out loud at some of Mr Hill's suggestions. They were--um--delightfully precious, in a that might have worked in 1940, but would need some major updating to be of use now.

However, that being said, the real meat of the book--the process of setting your sights on what you want and taking the deliberate steps to get there--hasn't aged a day.

Hill suggests you read and re-read his book until the concepts become ingrained. I suppose this is a goo More...

First let me say I listened to the audio book and didn't read the book (although I do plan on checking it out to copy down a few interesting tidbits I want to remember). I'm not really into the motivational "think positive and everything will work out" type of books so this was a stretch. The version I listened to had notes from the editor which turned me off 99% of the time. The whole believe/study/faith all or nothingness of the book also was too much for me.

I had seen this book in stores for the longest time. Never picked it up. Maybe I thought his name was strange.

Anyway, the title got quoted many times in all these financial and marketing books I've been picking up a lot lately. And one fine day, at a book warehouse sale, it jumped out at me.

And I'm glad I did pick it up. Had I read it years ago, I would not have been in the right frame of mind to accept the learnings within.

This book is literally one of a kind. First published in, I believe, 1937, the book is Napoleon Hill's second major attempt to create a coherent "philosophy of success." His first being "The Law of Success" which was published in the 20's. His title reveals it all, "Think and Grow Rich," is a book about how to think, in order to grow rich. It is not a book about what to "do" in order to "get rich." It is not a "get rich quick" book by a More...

This is an excellent exercise book that has asks a number of pointed questions to help you get clarity about acquiring the proper mindset. For $20.00 its the best tool out there for self-analysis. Its really helped me clarify my plans for the future. I would give this workbook my highest level of recommendation.

One of the most unusual books I've read in a long time. Somewhat dated in terms of it's writing style, but timeless concepts. It's framed around the pursuit of financial riches, but actually the concepts and techniques can be applied to many things that one desires. I read it mainly because my husband has been recommending it to me for years. I don't have a single-minded focus on financial wealth, but many of the concepts ring true. It is clearly the source for much of the self-help literature i More...

Think and Grow Rich was given to be by Patricia Robertson for graduation. She thought it was a good book to read since I want to learn how to make money and deal with money. Also since I wanted to start my own business and have employees, so she gave me this book. I think this will be a good book to read with my interest and all. I want to learn many things out of this book but I know a few things as well about money and how to start a business. From reading this introduction this book has promi More...

There is no fast and painless way to riches. Napoleon Hill teaches the only way to riches through a system which is infallible. If you are a person who believes in yourself and are willing to work hard (Thomas Edison said: genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration), then read Napoleon Hill's masterpiece. You cannot go wrong.

This book has been so influential. I think it must be the foundation of what is now popularly called the Law of Attraction in many circles. The thing I like about it compared to more recent, fluffy versions of that principle like The Secret, is it doesn't leave out the hard work aspect of becoming successful. Yes, must have focus, must hold the vision etc, but then you have to do the work.

One thing that has been so helpful for me in this is his auto-suggestion part. I use morning More...
