This book is kind of silly. It advises eating what your ancestors ate. That is good advice, or at least it can be. But the author says that what he means by that is that we should actually find out what our relatives ate 200 years ago and eat exactly that. The idea that our genes have changed very little in the last 10 000 years and that actually we should be eating the same things people ate 10 000 years ago because that is what our genes are adapted to best has completely passed this author by...more

This book was a free Nook book from the Barnes & Noble website and you could tell. There were terrible misspellings and awful grammar in the Nook transcription of the book (is there a physical version of this book?). It was super short and the chapters weren't at all well researched or thorough, but surprisingly, I liked the book and gave it 3 stars. Here's why...

The concepts in the book are simple and sound. Animals in the wild are prime examples of natural strength and body intuition. If h...more

this book talked about really peculiar things.. first of all.. comparing oneself to an animal.. i get that animals are fit. but i don't like the comparison. second, comparing humans to houses. and then to a garbage disposal... :/ is the author running out of examples? again. it didn't make sense to me. u can always say " you are what u eat" right? the good old well known famous saying is here for a us to use. yes? no?
even so, the book came with really not bad idea's/.. i always believe i should...more

Horrible! So full of typos that I have to think the book was edited by the author's dog. The advice was pointless as well. Be like an animal and eat only when you're hungry?! Actually, I take it back about the author's editor being a dog because he has clearly never had a dog. Every dog I have had would eat until she bursts, given the opportunity. And he says to notice that wild animals are not fat. Why not? Not for lack of trying to find more food! Many animals spend their entire waking lives s...more

Very interesting, especially the exercises. He is a big advocate of yoga and esometrics. I thought it was funny when it stated he was an avid runner and soccer player until he came to his senses. I did try a couple of the exercises and plan to incorporate some of them into my routine.

The information he gives with regard to diet and habits make a lot of sense and I feel, food for thought. We should examine our habits and why we do what we do particularly with regard to the maintenance of our bod...more

I read this book because of my profession, not for a "fun" read. I really enjoyed it. It is not rocket science, but it offers some useful and easy to apply tips. it is very easy to read and had photos for the exercise recommendations. there is little or no scientific jargon and it flows nicely. I would recommend it to those who are struggling starting a lifestyle change or those simply bored with their current wellness plan. I have never believed in diets myself, and think fitness should be a li...more

I do not know how to say it any other way this WORKS. It helps you change the way your mind works by applying the principals all around us in the animal kingdom. It will Change your relationship with you. It will help you be the person you are. I have in short never felt better and I am losing weight. I do not walk anymore I fly down the sidewalk. This must be what it feel like to be a large jungle cat after your prey. You will not fail as it is an easy read and David is a wonderful teacher. Tha...more

Yet even with this 95 percent failure rate the weight loss industry continues to flood the market with new diets and useless gimmicks. What's the secret to true, long lasting weight loss? I agree with what he says in his book about animals only eating when they are hungry. I also agree with his strategies.... don't eat in front of tv... wait 7 minutes before eating.... don't finish everything on your plate because it is there... exercise and be active. What I did not like is his exercise plan which is a mixture of isometrics.... yoga and PUSH UPS! I think walking and doing things U enjoy is more effective besides I never saw a squirrel doing the sun salutation!

One of the many free books I downloaded on my new Kindle.

And free isn't always a good thing.

This book is not necessarily a horrible book about diet and exercise. In fact, some of the information is quite useful. My problem with it is the amount of typos in this book. It's hard to take someone seriously when they can't spell, or at least hire an editor to spell for them.

Having said that, the book itself is not any better or worse than any other diet book.

This was a free Nook book and I'm starting to find that these "free books" are really skimpy and often a vehicle that authors use to promote other books. However, I still took some valuable information away from the book that I can use to change up some of my current fitness routines. i also would like to mention the the title for this book is both misleading and inappropriate for the information that the author is trying to convey.

Good quick read. Lots of common sense stuff in there and some terrible copy editing but, I still feel like I walked away with new tools to modify my eating habits instead of just dieting the old fashioned way. Also, while I do believe this book was meant to sell some of his others, he did provide tons of great exercises within so you don't feel like you just read a brochure for his other work.
Lisa
I tried the exercises in this book and was shocked at how stressful they are on the muscles. Who knew you could get a workout just by using one muscle against another without weights or a gym? I really liked the back stretches since my back usually hurts while I am at work. I can do some of them while at work as long as no customers are around.
Lisa
Thank goodness this was a free book! Writing style was terrible, layout was terrible, editing was super terrible. No "new" information, all "common sense" info or info that has been mentioned by the professionsls and media for years..... I don't even give it 1 full star but 1/2 a star ... I just don't know how to do 1/2 stars on Goodreads.....

Some useful thoughts - appetite control and some alternative takes on familiar exercises (push ups). I like the isotonic exercises - I have done them when in a seminar or on a plane and felt the better for it at the time and afterwards! The bits about animals not getting fat and animal exercise was pushed a bit far I thought.

I have a hard time reading books that have tons of typos and grammar mistakes. Also, saying that most diet/exercise books/research are outdated and then using data from 50 years ago doesn't help your argument.

I did, however, appreciate the stretching/exercise tips.
Yanni
I love the philosophy behind this book, it is so deceptively simple & yet we manage to miss the truth every single day because what society & technology made us become. I especially love the chapter on "Your Body Is NOT A Garbage Disposal", it is so enlightening!!
Karen Rasco
This is the second book I have read on my iPhone and I must admit that as an old-school-librarian, reading books on my iPhone is AWESOME! I will definitely purchase more books in the digital format. The first book I read on my iPhone was FINAL APPEAL.

This was a free kindle book, so you can't always expect too much. But, the author did have some good ideas for exercise and made some good points about when and what to eat. I think it's helpful and a super easy read, but nothing spectacular.
Yasmin Khalaf
I loved this book. I hate the word "diet" and I believe in changing your habits and lifestyle. Highly recommended. The book did have some spelling mistakes but I liked the general idea and got the point.
Yadi
Not the greatest book but I liked it, gives some ideas to work on. I did like some of the exercises indicated, specifically the push ups. I got it for free at the Kindle store, I may read again.
Terryann
the ideas in this book are sound, but not new. i was also in awe of the amount of grammar and punctuation and spelling mistakes, this book really could have used a second round of editing.
Chelsea
Ok, this book along with the EAt to Live book is really changing the way I live! I Love it! I think they should be read together though because some things missing from one book are addressed in the other. (though the whole evolution thing is kind of silly) I've made my own diet and exercise plan from these two books and I am loving it.
Kat
It's free on the Kindle for a reason. It was very interesting-at first-and then it got bad to worse. I did learn though, to drink water if I feel hungry, just in case I am bored and am not really hungry.
Mel
Great! Not rocket science but with some great theories. Good reminder about the healthy way to look at the way we consume food. Good excercise ideas without using the gym.
Daniel Devereux
It wasn't much of a book it was more like an ad. It's a good thing it was a kindle freebie when I got it because I wouldn't have actually bought it.
Susan
Don't bother. I keep hoping I am going to find something original. But reality sets in - it takes sensible eating and exercise period.
Phannnie
This book was okay. Nothing fantastic. I will try some of the exercises, but just because I love trying new workouts.
Shelly
Free on kindle. A few interesting tidbits. Not as much information as I hoped. Not bad for a free book, I guess.
Betsy
I do like the idea of the workout without the gym. Made a note to myself to create one that I can do in the hotel.
