Very good story about love and forgivessness and sparks a question of, "Could I forgive that?

Very thought provoking novel. Characters are rich and well developed. Hard to put down. Highly recommended. Moving on to Book 2 in the series.

WOW... "Contingency" was a powerful book that can be hard to swallow at times but very real in it's portrayal. Wiseman bends your emotions in every direction imaginable. You could feel the hearts of her characters breaking then being pieced back together with the hand of Grace and Mercy. But she stays true to the reality that even when we heal a scar is always left behind.

We see the slow fade that can happen to any of us if we don't guard our hearts and minds and stay close to Christ. Through h...more

Usually the heroines in these kind of books are these sappy backless mice that drift trough life.
Strangely, the heroine in this book caught and held my attention. I full out liked her!
Well, Christian books are all about forgiveness. And she was set out to forgive an affair.
I knew what I was getting in to. I knew.
Still, the forgiveness? Don’t make me laugh! Why would anybody forgive this hero?
His explanations are that he ‘has to have both worlds- the loving devoted mother of his children and the...more

Bobbi Molinsky’s life as she knew it plummeted when a forwarded email from her husband (Chuck’s) account, hinting at a secret rendezvous, lands in her inbox while he is out of town. Upon confronting Chuck with the email, he doesn’t deny anything, claims it would have been better not to have come home, turns around, and leaves, after eighteen years of marriage!

Paula Wiseman, in Contingency, doesn’t hold back on any of the emotions that occur from the fallout due to marital infidelity. It’s raw, e...more

Very realistic description of what it's like to go through infidelity in a marriage. Having lived it--a long time ago--the first half of the book didn't seem very new or interesting to me. But that's my "stuff".

Twists and turns about 40% through made it more interesting, and it was hard to put this book down. Without issuing a spoiler alert, I will say that some of the problems conveniently seemed to resolve themselves though.

I saved quite a few quotes from this book but one of them almost gave...more

Fantastic! If you are married or divoced and have not read this book then you should put it at the top of your list to read. The characters are very real. Kept me intrigued from page one, could not put it down. The book deals with marriage, adultery, and restoration. Our society accepts divorce, adultery, and non-convenant marriages, the devil is working long and hard to destroy marriages in any way that he can, because he knows that marriage is the one thing that God holds as sacred. Paula does...more

This first book in the Covenant of Trust series opens up when Bobbi Molinsky opens up an email that was forwarded from her husband’s email account and discovers that he has had an affair. This devastates her world and makes her question her own marriage. Bobbi tries to work through the fact that her husband did cheat on her and tries to forgive him. Chuck goes into counseling in order to determine why he cheated on his wife in the first place. The two of them are counseled by their pastor and hi...more

Such a great story on marriage. It shows the painful truth of the difficulty of marriage and when trust is lost, what can be done for reconciliation. Reconciliation is key but most painful. I liked the dicipleship shown, the true role of the church and realizing that truth is something that must be pursued. Charles the husband that cheated on his wife, had to come to the truth of why he cheated in the first place. His wife had to come to the realization of not denying what happen but truly forgi...more

I loved this book. It is Christian fiction. I could not put it down, but I'm not sure everyone would enjoy it as much as I did. The story walks the reader through a marriage that is in danger of falling apart due to infidelity. I found the author to share the perspective of both the husband and the wife equally well. It was like you understood both perspectives in some way and you just wanted to tell them each how far they were progressing, yet they each needed to go through the personal journey...more

This book deals with issues that effect many families. The tragedy of infidelity.

Bobby discovers that her husband of 18 years, Chuck, has had an affair. She undergoes the painful process of coming to terms with his infidelity as well as learning to trust and forgive.

Chuck learns how to love God, his wife, and himself after loosing himself in sin.

There are many levels in this story. Many lessons that can be learned about the steep slope to doing the unthinkable and the way that you can destroy yo...more

This book is a snap shot of what happens when the fabric of marriage is torn by infidelity. As a man, i identified with the husband a whole lot and i got to understand what the women go through, at such times.

If you have been the perpetrator of infidelity, read this book to open up your heart to change. If you have been on the receiving end of infidelity, read this book to learn what true forgiveness looks like and how to deal with the pain of an unfaithful spouse / partner.

Above all, read it to...more

I will admit, this took me some time to read. Not because I didn’t like it. Course it’s very hard to like the topic of infidelity. It took me some time, because this book reached inside of me the place and time I’d rather not go back to (and ironically, during the “anniversary month”). Wiseman, did an excellent job in portraying how marital affairs can hurt AND bring a family back together through their faith in God. I could connect with each of the characters even those outside of the immediate...more

All I could think to say when I finished this book was, "Wow!" And then, "Would I be able to do that?"

Bobbi and Chuck Molinsky are a typical Christian family, married for eighteen years, with two sons. But their world comes crashing down when Bobbi discovers Chuck's affair with his co-worker.

They never saw adultery coming, but now they are forced to face it head on. Will they choose to seek God's will in their broken marriage even when the pain is beyond anything they've ever experienced?

'Contingency' is a fantastic novel! The pages just flew by and before I knew it I had reached the end. The story is about Chuck's infidelity, how his wife, Bobbi, found out about it and how they are trying to mend their family.

I thought the book dealt with the issue of adultery very well. It showed the anguish that the person who was cheated on went through and all the other issues that this one sin caused. It showed how it wasn't just Bobbi and Chuck that were affected by the infidelity, but th...more

This was a good book. Only one part got a little cheesy. I think t was very realistic. The end result and what Bobbi had to do was very realistic. I am very glad i read it and would recommend it to anyone who is having a hard time in their marriage. Esp as regards trust. I felt calmer and closer to God after reading this. It did not give me the answer i expected, it gave me the answer i needed.

Very realistic story - it got better as I read. I was not too crazy about how indecisive Bobbi was regarding her marriage...it was quite a roller coaster. I also did not think the characters were very well-developed at the beginning of the story. However, I do think it is a blatant wake-up call to how individual choices affect many, many people.

Well-written book about infidelity and forgiveness, but the Christian theme is so heavy handed that it obscures some of the issues with which the characters are dealing (e.g. there are entire prayers to help someone come to Christ, a funeral service, etc.).

I wrote this one, but if you like realistic stories about characters struggling with God, about genuine, not perfect, faith, then I think you'll like Contingency.

The story is about the aftermath of adultery, but Bobbi and Chuck work to save their marriage. For them, the outworking of their faith isn't empty Sunday morning platitudes, but a heartfelt relinquishing of the situation to God.

If you've ever struggled to trust God, if you've ever been hurt or betrayed, or if you've ever wounded someo...more

This book was incredible! You really care about the characters and it is just so easy to read. It is written quite brilliantly, I must say. All fans of Christian fiction should pick this book up and read, read, read!!!

I experienced every emotion described in this book. Author did excellent job writing this book. I had to lay it down and walk away a few times to pull myself back together as it stirred past feelings.

Chuck and Bobbi Molinsky have 18 years of marriage under their belts when Bobbi discovers Chuck has had an affair. Their journey to save their marriage begins as they seek counseling. In reading the book, the author presents both sides of the situation from the perspective of Chuck and Bobbi. They both learn things about themselves and their faith in God as Chuck begins to understand his infidelity and Bobbi learns about her own insecurities in the marriage.
