Grant lives with Daisy and his other sisters in Hartslove castle, which used to be magnificent and now is practically in ruins. Their mother walked away a few years ago without ever saying why and their father drowns reality in a brandy bottle.

Then Hartslove is put up for sale, and instead of paying off bills, their father buys a horse with the last of their money--a horse that he swears will be The One. (Just like the others he has bought in the past.) In other words, a Derby winner, that will...more
