Worst book I've ever read in my life. After this, I think I'm morally obligated to promote every one-star book on my shelf to two stars, because it's wrong to put anything on the same level as this fucking thing.
I’m at a loss. I honestly don’t know what to tell you all, but this book was . . . good. It was like, good, you know? Like, when you are reading a book that is mostly about girls looking for penises, but you want to know what happens next? And you don’t even want to throw it across the room a little bit? And then unexpectedly hilarious slapstick comedy ensues, but doesn’t lead to the most boring Scooby Do mystery resolution ever? No? You’ve never had that experience? Me either. It was disorienti...more
You already know if you'll like this book or not. If you watch the Jersey Shore and love it, and if your favorite "characters" are Snooki & J-WOWW, and if you wish they were your friends in real life and you could spend a summer with them, AS I DO, then you will love this book, as I did.
A friend called "A Shore Thing" Jersey Shore fan-fiction, and that is pretty accurate. Protagonist "Gia" is a short, extroverted girl who loves tanning and putting her hair into a "pouf". Gia's cousin Bella...more

I have to admit I loved this book. Everyone I talked to before I started it seemed to be against reading it for one reason, the author. But I love anything and everything Jersey Shore, so how could I say no. I finished the book in just two days and couldn't stop laughing the entire time. If you know anything about Snooki you can see the resemblance in main character Gia, even throwing in a few things she's said, and done, on the show. Even if you aren't a fan of Jersey Shore or Snooki I would st...more
A Shore Thing, by Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and her collaborator Valerie Frankel, is a book about two cousins who spend the summer partying in Seaside Heights. The main characters, Gia and Bella, are at the Jersey Shore to party and meet guys. The story switches off between the main character's prospectives very well, otherwise the writing is nothing special and lacking the description some people like. There were several parts of the book where certain things didn't really seem to fit but were pu...more
Okay, okay - I know what you're thinking - you're judging right now, aren't you? Don't judge! Sure, Snooki's A Shore Thing may not be heavy on the literary, or particularly academic reading material, but at the same time, it's very Jersey Shore. It's the kind of book where it's just a fun, shallow story that doesn't require a lot of thinking. (Which is definitely a more relaxed contrast to the heaviness of say, Marx, Weber, etc.)

As anyone who knows me knows, I'm into politics. It's an obsession really, what with the election cycles, the media conflictinator, and the general fate of the American public in the balance. But one of the things I love the BEST is the Double Talk. Pushing one message whilst secretly advancing another, mostly by omissions, euphemisms, and good old fashioned lies. As such I would ask that you, the audience, allow me to practice my Double...more

When I heard that Snooki wrote a book, I couldn't help but think "Gee, I didn't know they made enough crayons to write a book with." Of course I had to check it out, even though I got both horribly teased & lectured by various coworkers. (One actually gave me a half hour lecture on how Snooki shames the Italian-American population. She was very intense.)

I borrowed this book from a friend, and I already gave it back to her. But it was a pretty good book. I know Snooki has a reputation for being ignorant and stupid, but she is a great writer.
This book is very unique. I have never read something like it before. It is a really bright and fun way to pass time, and yes, it does resemble Snookie's hit reality show, Jersey Shore.

I thought that this book was very interesting. I wanted to read this book because I watch Jersey Shore. This book sort of relates to Jersey Shore. I think that it is about Snooki and JWoww. The names are changed to Bella and Gia. The book was a little explicit. I would only recommend this book to a person who watches Jersey Shore. Then, they will have a tolerance for the language and content that is used.

This book isn't bad, surprisingly. In A Shore Thing, cousins Gia and Bella head down to the Jersey Shore for some partying, drinking, and smushing .The two are both recovering from dramatic events and they just want to find some hot guido juicehead gorillas to smush. Basically the book is like the show because Gia literally is Snooki and you will hear Snooki's voice in your head while reading and picture her as Gia. I really like this book. Sure it isn't the best book in the world but I enjoyed it...more
Its summer at the Jersey Shore and cousins Gia and Bella want to make it a summer to remember. The girls rent a beach house on the Shore and their summer goal consists of 3 D’s: dancing, drinking and duh! The girls are on the prowl for some hot, juice-head guido gorillas and are looking for a good time and a wild summer.
So confession time: “Jersey Shore” is one of my guilty pleasures and one chapter into the book I felt like I had moved into the shore house with Snooki and JWoww. Gia is a spitt...more

When I read the summary, I was surprised that the book wasn't Snooki rehashing what had happened throughout the seasons of Jersey Shore. Instead, it's about Gia, who is so obviously based on Snooki, and her cousin Bella, who seems to be a little bit like JWOWW. The two go down to Jersey Shore, rent a beach house, get jobs, meet gorilla juiceheads, party, and that's about it.

In A Shore Thing, cousins Gia and Bella head to the Seaside Heights in New Jersey for the summer. They plan to get jobs while they are there, but mainly they are after "hot guidos, cool clubs, fried Oreos, and lots of tequila." They soon meet the locals (some good; some bad) in addition to some frenemies from their school days. The summer is filled with fun, men, squabbles and trouble. In the end, the girls learn that revenge is sweet and that they really can count on each other.

I did it. Be amazed, I got through A Shore Thing & didn’t shank myself though I came close.
You have to take it with a grain of salt, it’s not meant to be a serious work of novel brilliance, it’s a candy coated book. If you came into it expecting anything other then that, well you’ll have a mild heart attack. It’s light, annoying, funny, snark worthy…but it’s Snooki. What more do you want from the world’s golden colored smurf? Don’t expect a masterpiece, expect something different & a bit...more

Just put it this way: Snooki wrote a fiction novel. Snooki. Wrote. A. Fiction. Novel.
Enough said.
I hate it when people get published because they're already famous (and for what? Being a drunken fat whore?) when actual real talented writers (myself not included, I don't consider what I write to be talent-filled) struggle to get published, then eventually self publish because they're not 'good enough'. Oh, and Snooki is? Even her ghost writers, the ones who actually wrote this drivel aren't bette...more

What can I say I'm a glutton for punishment and this book sounds like it's going to be an utterly hilarious, I can't stop laughing, I think I'm going to fall over inducing book.
I have to admit I was going to avoid reading it (oh I know I'm probably a book snob but really?), what you say then why did you add it, what's changed my mind you say? Well Ellen did a reading from Snooki's book (click HERE) which I admit was pretty funny, but it didn't sway me to want to read it just from that, however...more

Nobody is reading a Snooki book and expecting great insight. She's obviously no Tolstoy, but A Shore Thing wasn't the worst thing I've ever read (or even the worst thing I've read this week). Just like every other ghost written celebrity book, it's superficial, silly and dramatic. But it is entertaining and fun. If you can appreciate something like Jersey Shore (or any other given reality tv show) for what they are - mindless entertainment - you can enjoy this book.

Obviously, before you even start this book, you are aware that it is fluff, ghostwritten (Valerie Frankel, hope you got big bucks for dealing with this trash!).....that being said...maybe if you're not from the Jersey Shore, you might find this amusing. If you are a local, well, it's just a glaring reminder of all the bennies you see daily. If you're a guido, you are a bennie, even if you move here...why? You can take the trash out of Brooklyn, but you can't take Brooklyn out of the trash. Did a...more
I'll be the first to admit that I am always skeptical of celebrities writing fiction. Lauren Conrad, Hilary Duff, and now Snooki. While originally I thought that this would be a trashy YA book, it became clear to me that Snooki is just an average writer, who has managed to create funny, if not 3D, characters, add in an interesting plot, and keep it going for 300 pages, which is not bad for the girl from Jersey Shore.

I really have to admit, this book was awesome. I am, by NO means, a Jersey Shore fan or a fan of Snooki. I find the show utterly disgusting and I can't believe that MTV gets away with airing some of the smut they air on that show! However, Snooki did a great job with writing this book. I work in a library, and seen it on the shelf and though "What the heck, I'll try it". My friends were like "WTH!?!" when I told them I am reading a book by Snooki. Heck, I thought the same thing at first-"It'll p...more
I'd like to say how completely shocked I am at how good this book was. I mean I actually laughed out loud at parts, or rolled my eyes...and laughed. I already said that. I mean I literally read it in one day, but it was really good. I definitely recommend it if you are into light stories with strong female leads, or you just love the show Jersey Shore. It's not about the show, by the way, but the antics they get into and dialogue are similar, so you'd have to be a little bit of a fan at least to...more
A GREAT BOOK!! knowing that i already Love JERSEY SHORE..:)i would say the mix of this book is NOT SURPRISED BUT A LOT OF MUSHINESS ROMANCE,drunk attics, crazines, crime. i would rate this a 3 star because a.the mushiness is a little bit overrated(not ruining the party:o)b.it is a book that is probaly going to sit in that shelf because u and i do not want to go through that again..and finally C.it is a book that i would share with people because they are seriously going to think u are a gross mes...more
I don't even know why I even read this book. I guess I was pretty bored one night so when I came across it at the supermarket, I thought "what the hell" and just bought it (plus it was on sale haha). It's basically Jersey Shore in book form. The two main characters are major mary-sues in the sense that even their flaws seem perfect and everyone just seems to adore them. The story itself was okay, predictable, but still entertaining if you're into the chick lit genre. Although this book wasn't as...more
If you've heard of Nicole before you know her as 'Snooki' from the Jersey Shore. But this book isn't a tell-all about her past. I really like that she wants to do more than just the MTV reality show and this book is where it all starts. I really enjoyed the book and I'm glad I was able to buy it when I did. This definitely does have some 'Jersey Shore' style fun in it and I really would recommend this to any fans of Nicole, MTV and Jersey Shore. If you really like the book after finishing it, do...more
This book was very interesting, because it was written by someone who probably should never ever write a book, but I really just had to read it, it was almost calling to me. It was actually a pretty good story, the writing was not very good at all, there were some places where it was pretty obvious that the editor missed. For example: They were huddled together like a family of Ellis Island immigrants just off the Mayflower Obviously, she isn't the best writer in the world, but I liked it non...more
Snooki's, "A Shore Thing," is super cute and funny if you take it for what it is, a cute little story about two girls trying to find themselves on a vacation. I don't really care if she wrote it or not. It SCREAMS Snooki. The main character is practically her twin, even though it's a novel; she walks, talks, acts and breaths just like Snooki. If it was a part of a series I would definitely read more :) So if you laugh whenever you see her in the latest episode of Jersey Shore, this book is defin...more
A Shore Thing is such a fun read. Totally. I practically found myself laughing my ass off and saying "OMG!" the whole time. Too bad I didn't get to read this on the beach. :)

Wasn't as bad as I thought it was to be , but there were some parts like the litter scene where Gia catches her enemy from highschool talking about her; her enemy threw some sort of garbage and missed the garbage can, then just left. In the book, Gia's like, 'Call me a whore all you like, but don't litter!' that was just retarded, like, no offense, but who cares? In modern society, people little all the time so she's making a big deal for no reason. She's just trying to make herself look good or...more
I can't believe Snooki actually wrote this. I'm convinced it must have been penned by a ghost writer after Snooks fluttered in and gave a brief synopsis of a "fictional" couple of girls who spend a month at the Jersey Shore. Not to say that it was any fine display of prose, but it was entertaining enough - particularly given it was apparently written by the girl whose Jersey Shore roommate Ronnie decided couldn't have been the author of the anonymous note in series 2 (cmon, we all remember that...more
