Strange Angels (Strange Angels #1)
Lili St. Crow won accolades and an impressive readership for her Dante Valentine series. With Strange Angels, St. Crow pens a YA tale sure to raise hackles and wake the dead. Dru Anderson is a very special girl— even if she doesn't always feel it. Gifted with "the touch," Dru travels about with her dad, hunting all manner of things that go bump in the night. But then her d...more
Dru is also pushing a midlife crisis even though she is technically written as a teenage girl. She called every human bein...more
In Strange Angels, Dru Anderson has what her grandmother called “the touch.” (Comes in handy when you’re traveling from town to town with your dad, hunting ghosts, suckers, wulfen, and the occasional zombie.)
Then her dad turns up dead—but still walking—and Dru knows she’s next. Even worse, she’s got two guys hungry for her affections, and they’re not about to let the fiercely independent Dru go it alone. Will Dru discover just how special she really is before coming face-to-fang
While there's no doubt that this book is written quite well, I quite a few gripes with the book that prevented me from enjoying it too much.
1. A bunch of teenagers who keep calling each other 'kid...more
The book is about Dru, whose father is a hunter of sorts - except he hunts otherworldly beings in the Real World. Dru is pretty confident about her living situation until a zombie infilt...more
The story was interesting. Dad and daughter engaged in a battle with all things that go bump in the night. This was something new for me. Not sure I understood why her Dad would put himself in harms way, when he is her only living family member, but I guess that just adds to the story.
Initially Dru annoyed me, I don't know exactly what it was but by the end of the story she'd grown on me. Graves on the othe...more
Phew. It’s over. It’s finally over!
God, this book was SO boring. It was really slow paced and really trite. I had a hard time keeping my eyelids open.
In addition to being such a drag, it also had a very dull setting and a thin plot. As if that wasn’t enough, our heroine was a no-nonsense, extremely serious person whose idea of fun was blowing up stuff and both the male sidekicks were annoying the hell out of me.
The writing was fairly good but the character description was not. There wasn’t eno...more

Autorka píše pod dvěma jmény - jako Lili St. Crow napsala sérii Andělé noci, která začíná vycházet u nás, a jako Lilith Saintcrow má na svém spisovatelském kontě série pro dospělé Dante Valentine, Jill Kismet a Watcher. Lili se narodila v Novém Mex...more
I will be updating this review soon!!
I found myself a little hesitant about Dru in the beginning. Her and her father have been jumping around from place to place ever since her Gran died. He's a hunter of all paranormal entities that go bump in the night and has been doing so every since Dru's mother died years ago. Dr...more

Do pozice lovné zvěře se dostane ve chvíli, kdy otec překročí práh jejich domu jako zombie. Dru se ani v těch nejhorších snech nikdy nezdálo, že by měla boj...more
In the book we have Dru a human girl paranormal hunter with her dad, she has witch powers like hexing. There's Graves a gothic asian boy who helps Dru after he was killed and turned into a zombie. Graves was bit by a werewolves and he becomes half a were. Theres is also Christophe, he is a vampire, helps Dru by killing werewolfs, knows about her and he...more
3.5 out of 5
Strange Angels is my first entrance into the world and novels of the prolific author behind the Strange Angels, Dante Valentine, Jill Kismet and Hedgewitch series. I had high expectations for such an apparently creative and verbose author - some of which were met (I didn't hate Dru upon reading her, no ridiculously obnoxious love triangle
I had a hard time putting three stars and not letting it reach four, just becuase it really was a good book, and I do plan on reading the others... But, I couldn't seem to just like it. It's hard to explain. But it's like at first I couldn't get into it--almost set it down at one point-- and I just couldnt get to anything good.
Then the good part came and I really liked it, and read quicker. Then it slowed again and I stopped for awhile. I would often tell myself to go read and not eve...more
All in all the book wasn't bad, it just didn't keep me hooked, I will probably read the rest in the series but I give it some time. Now I'm looking forward to something else.
Dru wasn't bad character, no superhero girl who's gonna save everyone but the whole story lacked SOMETHING. If I really look at the whole book, there really wasn't much going on. Her dad died, she met "this kid"...more
Initially I felt there were too many internal thoughts from Dru and not enough dialogue, which was the main reason I found this book difficult...more
* Graves - A very cool character. I almost wish HE was the main character
* The Mystery - What the hell is going on? :)
* Christophe - Another cool character.
* Dru - As the main character, she is pretty cool. Very realistically written most of the time... she goes through the shock and depression of having bad stuff happen to her and (somewhat) suffers the conse...more
Hoping this will wash the rotting flavor of Forest of Hands and Teeth from my (reading) lips...
Ok! That worked.
Dru is likeable enough, though she's no cuddly-wuddly protag. She's deadly with a knife and though a little nervous around guns (usually her dad's the gunslinger) she knows what she's doing, in theory. Yet she's not 100% standoffish and anti-social (as Mary is in FoHaT). She seems to react realistically to things like kindness, th...more

So when someone told me I would like this book b/c I liked Buffy, well, humpf. Ugh...bad characters, stupid plot, and WHYYYY do people feel the need to re-spell words in their own mythology? Werewulf? please. This book was so annyoing....more
The storyline is very interesting and the authors writing style is great. However, every character has the same vocabulary. It's a small detail but one that drives me crazy. In real life unless your like related or spend a lot of tim...more
First: Dru kicks ass! I like that. It's not like she's some kind of super-woman that can handle everyting without even blinking. No. She's a fighter. She fights even though it is difficult, even though she bleeds and even though the opponent is much bigger than her. I love books with tough girls as main character!
Secound: The book is full of unpleasent emotion...more
