description

This Origin of Megatron is an interesting read, Megatron is a wanted criminal warrior fighting in the pits below Kaon. He then unites all the pit fighters together to take on the autobots the story shows you how each of his loyal servants came about and how they met, i just wished they went a little more into the origins of his servants.

The story was good, but could have used some more tweaking here and there. Sometimes i was wondering it if this is days later, or what not. The artwork was reall

Slave. Gladiator. Warrior. King.
Ok, you have to swap "slave" and "king" with "miner" and "leader", but I really loved how Megatron's rise to power here reminded me so much Conan the barbarian's one.
Great art and story for grown up/new fans of Transformers, and the characterization of Autobots as cold heartless rulers was just a really good and unexpected twist.

Excellent!

We all know how it ends. We all know the main opponents, Megatron and Optimus Prime. But every story has a beginning and every man or bot had been having simple life before he became leader. Megatron was once a very humble and hardworking bot, being miner was not easy and well paid job. He was sort of happy until something came in his life. The autobots were presented as not those noble creatures as you have probably seen them in the movie or cartoons, but bureaucratic and power hungry bastards ...more

This is my canon for Megatron's back story--without question. Megatron's rise from miner to ruler is well written and displayed. I also love the backstory with other familiar characters winding into the story from how Rumble & Frenzy hooked up with Soundwave, to Starscream & his brothers joining up with Megatron and even seeing Senator Ratbat.

The art style, in particular, is absolutely gorgeous and accompanies the writing well.

Amazing book & definitely worth more than one read.

While I am certainly NOT a prequel fan (I've still never watched the Star Wars prequels for that reason), this was an interesting read. It explains how Megatron came to lead the Decepticons and, for that matter, how the Decepticons came to be. If I ignore the fact that it was a prequel, it's an awesome story, particularly to fans who've always wondered "How do Megatron become the leader?"

Cybertronian peacetime was not exactly idyllic. There were no Autobots, no Decepticons, so there was no absolute good or absolute evil. Megatron rising through a fight for a just cause was a surprising angle to take, as was the evolution of the Decepticon symbol - not to mention its similarity to the Senate symbol. Definitely a good trade to add to my collection.

Really liked this back story for Megatron, and how the Autobot regime was portrayed. Too often it's so cut and dry with the 'Cons as the bad guys and the 'Bots being able to do no evil, and this was a breath of fresh air to that.

Art work was excellent, and the story was well-paced and engaging. Loved it.

started off quite well. but just became more and more convoluted. Some art was amazing and some was rather oddly conceived ... as if the frame had zoomed in too far and you couldn't really make much sense of it. certainly not one of the stronger IDW Transformers releases.

Sloppy and confusing, not to mention a but pretentious. Strong finish, but doesn't make up cor the rest of it.
