I discovered something about myself as I read HelenKay Dimon’s Guns and the Girl Next Door: I can be a bloodthirsty cheerleader. Whenever Mia and Holden faced a threat or an enemy, I kept thinking, Shoot him. Take him down. Run him over with your car and back up for good measure.

In my defense, you really want to cheer on Mia and Holden. Mia is smart, scrappy and frightened. The violence and destruction affect her. She recently got out of a situation that makes her question her instincts, and the...more

In general, Intrigues aren't my favorite . But I like the way that Dimon writes them. Her Intrigue heroes are always flawed, and always learn to rely on the strength of their heroines. This book was as much about a team working together and dealing with strengths and weaknesses of their own and each other, as it was about the romance.

Having said that, both Holden and Mia come to rely on each other and it grows slowly from a sexual to a very intimate thing. Although Mia began with the emotional n...more

Get ready for one hell of a ride. HelenKay Dimon puts the gloves on, throws punches of action at readers one-two, one-two and never lets up until the bad guys are down and out. You have to hang onto your hats at the risk of being tossed out of the ring at the rate the action moves in this book. Fastfastfast. I held on for dear life and cheered every darned minute of it.

Holden Price is cooling his jets while his Recovery Project team is going through a congressional investigation, all thanks to a...more

Agent Holden Price doesn't trust anyone. He has plans, and backup plans for every situation. During the Corse of this high pass action book, He learns he can trust Mia. Sometimes there's just not enough back up planes, and you have to trust your team, and the girl he swore to protect. They have to trust, and help each other along the way to find the common enemy that is trying to take them both down. If you like action books, with romance I'm sure you will like this one. I read this book awhile...more

Nothing made sense to Mia--especially not the a...more

Rating: B+

This one started out fast and kept up that momentum for most of the story. There was some downtime, the characters do need some sleep after having hot sex but the pacing overall was very well done.

Mia Landers has found herself in a boatload of trouble. Good thing she practically runs into Holden Price. The first impression of Mia was one of a woman completely out of her element. She's being chased in the woods and she's not sure why. She reacts in a panic and ends up in Holden's livin...more

BUCHANAN FAMILY SERIES Guns and the Girl Next Door - enjoyed book had enough mystery and romance for me (Mia and Hlen)

This book was okay. I've read better. I've read worse. I probably wouldn't read it again, although I might be interested in reading the others in the series. I just found I didn't care overmuch about the characters. I mean, I didn't dislike them, but I didn't really care about them either. About 3/4 of the way through the book I got kinda bored and forgot to read it for a while. I also found the progression from strangers to being in love somewhat unbelievable (and I'm totally willing to suspend...more

HelenKay Dimon spent the last twelve years in the most unromantic career ever - divorce lawyer. After dedicating all that time and effort to helping people terminate relationships she is thrilled to write romance novels full time. Her books have earned praise, appeared on besteller lists and won numerous awards. Her first single title, YOUR MOUTH DRIVES ME CRAZY, was featured in Cosmo as a "Red-Ho...more
