It is reported in the headlines, confessed in the pulpits, and hidden in the pews in churches around the world. The seduction of God’s people by the deceiver is a tale as old as the garden, but we are always surprised when it happens. We must realize that Satan is a lion on the prowl and we are his prey.

Beth writes with a passion fueled by the Biblical warnings of the sche...more

This is one of the most important books I've read in the past five years. I say it fills a gap because of the way it so clearly addresses the specific topic of spiritual "seduction." The anonymous Amazon reviewer of 3/26/02 did a good job of describing what that is and is not. In contrast to the willfully disobedient or rebellious person, the seduced person may creep by almost imperceptible steps to a spiritual disaster he could not have imagined could happen to him.

Going back to one of my favorite authors and Christian teachers, I picked up one of the variety of Beth Moore books that are on my To-Be-Read (TBR) list. I’ve had When Godly People Do Ungodly Things for a while, having swapped it on PaperBackSwap. There was no particular reason I read this book other than a simple curiosity and a love for Beth Moore’s biblical teachings.

Today I did the majority of my reading because I finally found a day to relax and read. Seems like the summer has kept me almos...more

This study was probably one of the most life-changing experiences I have ever had. Breaking down the strong walls and navigating back to center was an intimidating task that Beth proved I was worthy of making because God was eagerly waiting. I never thought that was the case, until WGPDUT. For those that have participated in this study, you all know how incredible the puzzle piece was in Beth's lecture that they found on the ground. I had my "puzzle piece" moment shortly after finishing this stu...more

I read this book in 2005, I just came across it and had forgotten. How could I have forgotten it? This is an awesome book! It went along with a Beth Moore Bible study of the same name. You wouldn't need it to go with the video tapes but it's nice. It helps you understand that "free will" is the cause of many bad things that happen in this world. It gives you such a different perspective especially if you're feeling defeated or "ganged up on" or /and hurt by others, especially those who should be...more

When Godly People Do Ungodly Things is a poorly titled piece of Christian writing by Beth Moore. The title insinuates that Moore message is about everyday sin. However, her real focus is on the war Satan wages against devoted Christians. Essentially, she states that Christians who have a whole-hearted devotion to Christ will likely be attacked by Satan at some point in their Christian walk.

Once I was past my initial confusion about the what the book was really about, I was able to appreciate Mo...more

I already read half the book a couple years ago, and I found this the other day with the bookmark marking my failure to finish it. However, I will say I do love this concept. So I am finishing it!! I love how Beth Moore writes. I love the topic of this book. Its very current.
I do think this one was a little repetitive, and a bit discouraging to read how people fall and struggle. Evil is apart of this word. Holding onto Christ is super important. Redemption comes from Him.

This book is divided into three sections:
1 - is a warning to believers, showing scriptural proof of Satan's desire to "exact revenge on God by wreaking havoc on His children and to try to incapacitate the believers' God-given ability to overcome him";
2 - shows how to plan against an attack from the enemy;
3 - points the way back to God for those who have been snared by seduction.

This title made me want to read this book. I have read this book about five times and I do not like reruns of movies or books so it has to be good.I have the DVD of this book and the workbook. Maybe I was in a state of needing this book at the time it helped me become a better person.

Riveting quotes:
Pg 21: All along, Satan has been trying to make himself "like the Most High" (Isa. 14:4). I would not be surprised if he counterfeits God's appointment of angels to every believer by appointing demons to every believer.
pg 68: God keeps no record of wrongs, but you can bet Satan does.
pg 73: Yes, we can do something about our pasts. We can take them to Jesus! We can't forget them or ignore them. We need Him to take full authority over them where they are no longer a playground f...more

This was my first Beth Moore study, and it will certainly NOT be my last. She has such a clear message and seems to connect so well with women. This study was very personal in nature. The study's purpose is to force women to examine their faith to see where there might be footholds for Satan to come in and destroy lives. It was unsettling for me to reflect so much on the past to understand the present and secure the future, but it was worthwhile in my case. I love how Beth is inspired to apply j...more

What a clear view of how easy it is to fall for Satan's scams and the reasons why you and I are so suceptible. Very useful study of our need to guard our hearts.

Wow, this book is a pageturner. I confused it with another I thought I had read.Last night picked it up & couldn't put it down, woke up to Chapter 3. Finishing it this week as I am using it as a devotional. Beth captivates your attention in a grandeur manner because of her humility and love for God and I was so intrigued from page one to find empathy on what the remainder has to offer. Will keep you posted. Happy reading,Enjoy!

Uhm yeah-- not what you think it's about (s-e-x). When you break it down, it's really about IDOLS in our lives! ANd-- how to remove them!
Nellie
this is a great book that puts ungodly stuff into perspective. It also has practical suggestions to avoid falling into ungodly behaviors.

A wonderful book every Christian should read. Rather or not you think you might have some underlying issues, we need to all realize that it can be a short fall from grace if we are not on guard!

i read this awhile back and can't remember all that it was about, but i do remember it convicting me quite a bit about how much i judge people, especially for as much as i sin. i picked up this book, arrogantly thinking it would help me counsel someone through some sin struggles and did not expect god to use it to challenge me.

I liked this, but think I would have gotten more from it in a different part of my life.

Beth Moore does it again. It's a great reminder, that no matter how far you turned away from God, or what you did. God is still there waiting for you to turn back to Him. Despite all that you've done to make Him sad, He still loves you and will forgive and forget! It's something I needed. That first week is really tough when you start answering questions and seeing how you line up with the thinking of others. I was amazed at how many times I said, that is so me!
Sarah Risner Gilpin
This was a really good book when you needing reassurance of your faith after you may have sinned and feel like God doesn't want you anymore, so I would have to say it is a great book, but I love Beth Moore Bible Studies more. It is an excellent book though.
