Goodreads gets some angels
posted by Otis on December, 17 1

We're proud to announce that Goodreads has raised an angel round of funding from a group of six influential Internet pioneers.

James Currier, founder of Ooga Labs and Tickle.com (Tickle was purchased by Monster.com in 2004) led the round. Other investors include Michael Birch, the founder of Bebo.com (the largest online social network in the UK), Chris Michel, founder of Military.com and Affinity Labs (backed by Trinity and Mayfield), and Mike Jones, founder of publisher services company Userplane (acquired by AOL in 2006). Additional investors include True Ventures, an early-stage investment firm, and Stan Chudnovsky, co-founder of Ooga Labs and former General Manager and CTO of Tickle.

Goodreads has had great success so far, recently reaching over 600,000 members, and 10 million books added! We've been self-funded to date, and felt it was time to expand the team a little faster. So if you're a book lover who happens to love programming, let us know!

We're encouraged by our success to date, but have big plans for the future. Now that we've got some smart people backing us, we feel like we're on the right road.
