We launched a mobile site a little while back, and after a month of testing and tweaking it, it's now live for all to use! We optimized for iPhone & Blackberry, but it should work well on any mobile phone with internet browsing capabilities. You don't even have to do anything, just go to Goodreads on your mobile phone and we should auto-detect that you are on a phone and show you the mobile version of the site.
The mobile site is a lightweight version of the regular site that should meet the most basic mobile needs. Right now you can:
It you have feedback or would like request more features please join in the discussion.
If your phone for some reason doesn't auto-detect that you are on a mobile device, you can reach the mobile site directly by going to http://www.goodreads.com/mobile.

BlackBerry user. I've been loving this. Very easy to use. Star rating would be nice, though, whenever ya'll have the chance. Thanks for making adding books and status posting easy!
Does this mean that when I go on goodreads on my iPod Touch it'll go to the mobile one? Or will it just be the reguar one?

wow! I was waiting for this like for ever! now I can be in GoodReads anytime, and btw it does go to the mobile one in my iPod Touch 2G.looks amazing.. thanks a lot :)
mobile goodreads is an awesome website. I used it in the bookstore the other day to look up my to-buy list. it was quit and efficient. I loved it! great job!!!
i didn't realize it was available until i tried it a few days ago while in a bookstore. i couldn't remember the name of i book i wanted.
yay!!

I hope it doesn't because I prefer using the regular goodreads on my iPod(because I can message and post in groups)
is there a way to sort a shelf? when at a bookstore, it would be easier to find a book from my To Read shelf if we could sort by author's name.
I always feel like I end up clicking on the "go to the non-mobile page" link because the mobile page seemed too dumbed down. Like, for example, when I get an e-mail update from someone on my Blackberry and I click that link, the page that opens in the browser shows me what I am currently reading, not the updates from my friends. I'm using a Blackberry -- maybe this just something that happens with my version of the phone -- but I end up going to the non-mobile version anyway...
yeah, if i could post on groups w/ the mobile site, i'd use it, but even on my friends 1st gen iphone compared to a 3rd gen, the non mobile site works fine.
I’ve been using this to do status updates and I love it. I find that by posting status updates I get more of a feel for what I was thinking as I read the book, instead of just trying to sum it up afterward. Thanks and good job!
I'm a SE user.I really love it.
It used less data comparing the original version and more practical.
Very fun... I agree that I would like to be able to date and star books I read. Looks fairly good on a Blackberry!
Messaging would also be nice (as in inbox, not IM)
Someone above already said it, but I will repeat that it would be nice to order your bookshelf so it is easier to find a particular book while in the bookstore.
I don't have an iPhone or a Blackberry (I have a Verizon Samsung Sway), but the mobile Goodreads works fine on my phone - it's great!
Is the mobile site the only part of Goodreads that's working right now? I haven't been able to add reviews or anything for about 18 hours. Every link to a book brings up an error page.
Can you add links to our friend list from the mobile app? I like to access my friends books while I'm at the store or on the go. I couldn't figure out how to get there without going to the full site. Thanks, it looks great so far!
Does anyone know the NAME of the application? when I search for it in the app's section nothing for good reads comes up?
Hooray! Works great on my wifi enabled Palm PDA. My only request would be a way to turn off the book cover pix on the mobile version, as they take up most of the screen.
Leslie wrote: "Does anyone know the NAME of the application? when I search for it in the app's section nothing for good reads comes up?"You just go there in your web browser. No app needed.
Great news! My cell phone is on its last legs and I'm getting an iPhone next. This will be fun to use. Thank you!
This is a helpful development. However, in the April newsletter, this mobile site was erroneously described as "Our New Mobile App" -- a site optimized for mobile devices is NOT an app.
This would be cool if I HAD a cellphone. lol...oh and can someone answer Michelle's question? Because I'm also wondering that. (message 1)

Fabulous! Now when I go to the library, I don't have to rack my brain for what I want to read!!! Thanks, goodreads!

If it doesn't work for you, though, go to www.goodreads.com/mobile on your iPod touch and it works (I tried it).
