New and improved top shelves page!
posted by Otis on August, 13 1

We've updated the top shelves feature to be much more comprehensive, and to have a built-in wiki for each page!

Previously the top shelves page only listed the top 50 shelves, and on each of those pages it only listed 50 books. This was sub-optimal (read: lame), but necessary for scaling reasons. However we recently refactored the way it works so that now *all* shelves are listed, and under each shelf *all* books are listed. Yay!

This means there are a lot more books for you to browse - so enjoy!

238070 Something is wrong... When I search for a shelf name on which I have about 50 books, it only shows 17 of them on the shelf.

That made me laugh out loud at work. It WAS pretty lame...but it's anti-lame that you changed it. It's so much more useful now! Once again it makes me appreciate that you listen to the feedback we provide.

Edited to add:

Noran, that graphic there is just a snippet of the top of the list - http://www.goodreads.com/shelf/top_shelv... is the full thing, where you can see sci-fi and graphic novels listed further down. The "year" shelves may not be helpful to you, but all the list is doing is showing that 2008 is one of the most popular shelves people use.

395599 Noran, these are the most popular shelves, as in, the names for shelves people use that are the most common. More people have a shelf called "fantasy" than one for sci-fi - probably because people write it differently. I've seen "sci-fi-fantasy" and "science fiction" and various other combinations.

I have a favourites shelf but it's spelt with a "u" - I guess my books wouldn't show up on this because of that.
